I tried to insert a streaming video (rtmp file) into my responsive project but it won't play. When I go to preview it, the video shows the loading icon then just goes to black and never plays But it works fine if I do a blank project.

Is streaming video not supported for responsive projects? I used a trial version of Cp 8.0.1 as well as a licensed version of Cp 8.0 and the result was the same.

An embedded MP4 doesn't play when published to swf.

An embedded MP4 doesn't play when published to swf. The playbar is there. The embedded swf on the next page works OK. I uploaded all files generated to the website. Any ideas?

I haven't been using the program for a while, so I'm kind of rusty and I'm just getting to know Captivate 8, so hopefully I'm just doing something stupid. Oh yes, when I first publish and choose to view the project, it plays. So something must be different when I move it out online?

And here's the link. I'm probably going to replace the voice with my own. My husband says it sounds like Siri and really bothers him. Mine's not great but he assures me its better than the automated one.

insert more than one audio to one slide in timeline

Videos Freeze on Chrome

Hello again Adobe Forums,

I have another video-related problem today. I have exported some Captivate 8 files as HTML5 and when attempting to view them in Chrome, when I get to the video part, the video will freeze. I can go back one slide but it will freeze at the same spot in the same video. When trying to skip ahead one slide, a Loading icon will come up and just stay there.

The video files are .mp4 and my exported files can be viewed fine in Safari. I have applied this fix found here: Update on Captivate HTML 5 content playback issue in Google Chrome Browser. « Rapid eLearning | Adobe Captivate Blog and re-published the Captivate files but I still experience problems with them in Chrome.

If this is helpful at all, in the JavaScript Console this error shows up: Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONTENT_LENGTH_MISMATCH.

Cannot import audio to multiple slides

I am attempting to distribute a prerecorded narration (mp3 about 20 minutes long over about 25 slides). After dropping the audio file into the first slide, I choose “distribute the audio over slides” in the import audio options dialog box. However, the audio editor that opens at that point does not give me the option to distribute the file. What am I doing wrong, please?

According to the initial dialog box, my choice is supposed to open an "Edit Audio timing" window; instead, I get a "Slide Audio" box that only opens the entire audio file on the current slide.

I have a slide with an event video (mp4). I publish to HTML5.

The video plays as expected in Android 4.1.2's built in browser, but it doesn't play in Android 4.2.2's built in browser.

I have tried with and without autoplay. I've also tried starting the video with a button.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Pause Slide with Embed Video

Hello Adobe Forum users,

I have been using Adobe Captivate for a few months now but I've stumbled across an issue that I can't seem to solve by myself so I'm hoping I can find some insight here.

I'm currently using Captivate 8 and trying to get my embed video to work correctly. I have the video embed from Vimeo working quite nicely but I am wondering if there is a way to pause the slide until the video itself reaches the end. I have considered adding a button in so the user can proceed to the next slide manually when they are done or just making the slide duration exactly the length of the video so it goes to the next slide automatically when it is done but ideally, I want the user to be able to freely pause and play the embed video and only when the video finishes does the Captivate project proceed to the next slide.

I would really appreciate some help, thank you for your time.

I have Captivate 7 I have power point imported in captivate with a premade audio track I have set all the slide advance points but there is one slide no matter what I do when previewing the project it will not advance but if I hit the forward button on the screen it will continue to play the remainder of the way through.Captiv8r

Hello,

I'm having a problem with the export of a Captivate video tutorial.

The output size is w 1440 x h 900 pixels. It comes out looking fine, but as soon as we put it through any other transcoding process as required by our own workflows, the image quality deteriorates.

Now, I've read in this forum that any alteration of the size of the image will cause this deterioration in quality. Effectively, the dimensions of the transcoded output from our own video editors are much smaller than those of the input mp4.

However, we would like to keep that smaller size because it makes for better performances in video streaming.

Is there any way in Captivate to set the dimensions for the mp4 output to be smaller? The 1440 x 900 dimensions are already different from the capture area (the whole screen), so it seems they are independent from the capture settings.

Videos will not download quickly or stream correctly in CP8

Alright, this is probably pretty simple but we can't figure it out.

We are creating eLearning courses, each of them have a series of small videos that were at first embedded into the file and uploaded to SCORM, that took far too long to download. We then (currently) tried using an FLV streaming service to convert the videos from MP4 to FLV, still the videos are not streaming once they are published and loaded as a course to SCORM Cloud. This makes me wonder how on earth we are supposed to record our videos if we can't get them to play in the first place.

We've tried - as far as I can tell - pretty much everything and nothing seems to work. Not the embed web widget, not the YouTube Widget, nothing - and the videos are small. We've even used handbrake to bring the file size down to a third yet still, there is some disconnect between Publishing the file through Captivate 8 and uploading the course to SCORM.

Need immediate assistance here. Many thanks!

Captivate 5.5 - Slide video restarts automatically while buffering

Hey All,

I am new to captivate 5.5 and started creating e-Learning recently.

I have created 4 slide e-Learning - 3 slides with audio and 1 slide with a video of 7 MB size.

I imported video as slide video with the option of Progressive download.

I published the e-Learning as Scorm and uploaded in LMS (Lumesse)

Normally, The e-Learning works well normally.However, there are times, video is not buffering.While buffering, the video automatically restarts from beginning. Frequent restarting of video resulting in video goes out of sync with the slide, i.e. video is still playing, but the slide progressing to next slide.

I have also tried to insert as event video, set timing as 'Duration of video' and sync with project. This enables me to use the project player to control the video. However, the after the video is completed, i am not able to move to next slide using the forward button.

This is a serious problem for us.

Any solutions or suggestions to rectify it?

Let me start by acknowledging - quite honestly, that I am far from an expert.

The challenge I am facing is that I need to take a pre-recorded video (approximately 30 minutes long) and create an eLearning on it using the initial videos audio.

Recording went well, but the timing, as you can imagine, is off. What I am looking for is a way to auto-pause a slide after a portion of time has passed. Something for audio akin to most objects. Something like:

Slide: Upon enter - play audio

Pause after x.y seconds

Then I can insert an object with an advanced action to "play audio" and "continue". I tried using a pause in the slide itself, although the slide pauses, the audio does not.

It's the auto-pause. I don't want the user to have to click or interact to pause the audio. I can publish in .swf if that matters, I'm not sure it does.

I am using Captivate 7.

Pretty please, any assistance would be appreciated. I'll take workarounds. Something to keep me from pulling the remaining strands of hair out (and hopefully not re-recording the presentation by clicking pause every time there is a wording/slide change on the recording).

Captivate 6 Audio not playing in preview

I have been inserting audio recordings into my Captivate 6 project slides with no problem. I inserted them, clicked play, and they worked. This morning, however, I found none of my audio would play when I click Play at the bottom of my Timeline. It will play from the slide audio window when I double click the audio. It will play when I click the Preview button under the Insert Menu. So why will it not play from the play bar under the timeline? Any Ideas?

What gives. Captivate 3 does not have this issue!

In Captivate 6 & 8, if I drag an audio file form the library to a slide, and the slide has slightly more time in it than the audio, everything locks up. Anyway around this outside of cutting some time off the slide? Anyway to shave a .5 second off of every slide without having to do this one slide at a time?

This has cropped up after exporting multiple audio files to a normalizer tool and reimporting the audio. That tool must cut a few milliseconds off each audio file and instead of Captivate decreasing the slide time by a hair, it locks up unless I first shorten the slide time, drag the audio to the file, and the tell captivate to lengthen the time.

I have exported 42 audio files into mp3 format using the Advanced Audio Management Panel in Captivate 6. I ran these through a tool to normalize the volumes (MP3gain).

I now want to go back to the original file, delete the old audio, and import and assign the new files to each slide without having to drag each one from the library to the individual slides.

How can I do this? (The Audio Management Panel would seem like the most likely way, but I only see an export, no import function.

I would like to have audio on a slide that "pauses" the audio when a user selects a click box to branch off to a different slide for; in my example, "more details on a topic". Then when the user is done reading "the details" - selects a "return" click box and will be returned to the "sending" slide. I can get it to branch off and return just fine - but I can not figure out how to get the audio to pick up where it left off - it starts all over again. Which is a real pain when it's a long audio. I searched the discussion lists and can't seem to find a thread on this. Any help out there - greatly appreciated!

Audio out of sync video demo

Hi there,

I am using Captivate 8. When I publish a video demo where I have captured system audio, I find that the audio plays in sync as long as I am editing, but as soon as I publish the audio runs a few seconds behind the video.

Does anyone know a way to resolve this? I'm using a video of a person speaking, so it's crucial that the lips are in tune with the audio.

Recording a Webex .swf - Audio is not captured (Captivate 5)

I have Captivate 3 and couldn't get this to work, so I downloaded the Captivate 5 trial, and it still doesn't work. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit if it makes a difference. I am playing a Webex recording (.swf file that I created from a Webex recording). In Captivate's Audio > Settings, I selected Stereo Mix Realtek High Defini as the Audio Input Device. (The other choice was my headset/microphone.) I tried to calibrate it from the Audio Settings dialog by playing the swf and selecting Auto Calibrate or the Record button for manual calibration, but after the calibrating starts with "checking input level", it ends up with "timeout". I try recording the swf, and there is no audio. I right-clicked the volume icon on my Windows task bar, and set the Stereo Mix as the default, but it still doesn't work.

Does anyone out there have Windows 7 64-bit and can record audio through their sound card off of a swf that's playing? I also tried inserting the Webex swf as an animation in a slide, but a message displays that the swf contains Actionscript 2 while the current project setting is Actionscript 3...I tried it anyway, but it doesn't work as well.

Two Voices heard all slides

I have a very interesting situation where my coworker's captivate project contains two voices. The one that was recorded, and what I think (hard to tell) a previous version of what was recorded. I am trying to fix it, but really don't know how to proceed. I clean the library to remove unused items, and made sure there were no other items on the stage that contain sound.

Now, I can a bit lost. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi there, We use text to speech on all our slides, however there is a problem we have been unable to solve. If we have audio on a quiz slide this continues to play when the feedback caption comes up. This means that if a learner clicks the answer quickly they hear the slide text and the caption text on top of each other. How can I stop the slide audio if the feedback caption appears. We have tried advanced actions to "stop triggered audio" and experimented with invisible text captions that have the audio added but have not solved it so far. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Any help gratefully received, Many thanks Janet

Why does the timing of my mouse layer reset when I import audio to a slide in Captivate 6?

Hi -

I am developing a software simulation project using Captivate 6. I started by adding the slide and mouse layers. I developed my storyline and used the slides notes to develop the script. I used a TTS add-on during the review process with my SMEs but planned to import voiceover via a .wav file onced the script and slides were finalized.

I imported the .wav file and I'm having to go into each slide, one by one, and parse out the audio byte for the particular slide and delete the rest. I have to repeat the process for each slide and it's taking me a very long time. There has to be a more efficient and easy way to do this. ??

The biggest pain is that once I do import the audio for each slide, the mouse moves to the beginning of the timeline for the slide and I have to move it back to my desired located. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can prevent it?

In summary , I have two issues. 1) The time and tedious process of importing audio slide by slide and 2) how can I prevent my mouse timing from resetting after I import audio?

Any help would be appreciated.

blank error message when publishing to YouTube or to mp4 in Captivate 6

I am trying to publish a captivate file to youtube and receive a blank error message box that just says Adobe Captivate with a big yellow exclamation point. I also tried publishing as media (mp4) and get the same error. Screen shot included below.

The Top Issues article (http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/release-note/top-issues-captivate-6.html) for Adobe Captivate 6 includes the following note:

You may observe a blank dialog box or blank error prompts while publishing projects to YouTube. This issue occurs if the name of the Adobe Captivate installation folder contains unicode characters.

I tried renaming the file and the application so it didn't include numbers or underscores and then realized that even letters are considered unicode - so obviously that didn't work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Captivate MP4 format output

I have generated the *.mp4 format output by using captivate 6.0. However, the output quality of the video is not satisfactory. The texts used in the demo are blurred and the image clarity is also not as expected.

Can someone please help me out in generating a high quality video output.

How to embed YouTube into Captivate slide

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to embed a YouTube video into a Captivate slide? From what I have seen online there only seems to be a few 3rd party options via widgets and no real native way of simply embedding a video on a slide.

A workaround would be to directly embed the video footage but this would mean a much larger initial download as opposed to a small inital download accompanied by a video stream later on in the presentation.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Captive 8 - installing text to speech

Hello -

I have Captivate 8 installed on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine. I just installed the text-to-speech converter from the Adobe site (Cp8_win64_voice_installer). In c:\Program Files\Adobe I now see a folder called Captivate Voices 8 x64 and the VT folder below that contains: Bridget, Chloe, James, Julie, Kate, Paul, Yumi. However, when I open a project containing text-to-speech in Captivate 8 and select Audio>Speech Management, I only see the default Anna voice in the Speech Agent drop down list and the message that displays at the bottom of that windows says "You have not installed NeoSpeech voices..." I feel like I'm missing the final piece to get this working. Can someone provide it?

Playback of sound cuts off too early - How can I prevent Captivate 6 from doing so?

Hello out there

We are using audio on cptx slides (placed as audio track in the timeline, starting just at the beginning).

When audio is added, the duration of the slide is adjusted to the length of the audio.

We have button placed on the slide, but their stop commands are after the audio finishes.

After publishing, we notice that the audio is in most cases NOT played back until the end,

sound cuts off just about 5% before the end. Our soud files are all about 10sec ... 60sec. long.

-> How can we configure Captivate to play the complete audio files?

Hello,

I'm working with:

Captivate 6

Mac OS X 10.8.2

Flash Player is updated to most recent version

My project contains background audio music set to adjust to slide audio. When I publish to Flash the background audio adjusts appropriately until I pause the video and then resume. Once the video resumes the background audio no longer adjusts to slide audio. So basically anytime a learner pauses the video and then resumes the background audio drowns the slide audio out. I've tried this with multiple projects and get the same result.

When I publish in HTML5 it works fine. But I cannot use HTML5 because my project contains necessary rollover objects and captions, slide transitions, text animations, and other effects that HTML5 does not support.

I've to remove and re-add the background audio, uninstall and reinstall Captivate, adjust the background and slide volume levels, uncheck loop audio, and pretty much any audio settings and publish settings I can think of.

Can someone else with the same OS and Captivate version try and see if they encounter the same problem when publishing to Flash?

Or does anyone have a solution/workaround?

Web object widget (cp7) and TOC

I am using a web object widget to launch MP4 videos (hosted on a progressive streaming server) within my captivate course. I am wondering if there is a way to accurately track the duration (in the TOC) for these videos. The duration displayed on the TOC is only for the captivate slide duration and does not include the video. Any suggestions?

No Option to SAVE recording

I have now been helped on two separate occasions by the ADOBE help team for this same problem and it remains unresolved so I am taking it to this on line community.

Running Adobe Captivate 8.0 on a MAC OS 10.9.4.

In the beginning, no issues. I was then on a TRIAL version.

Then I bought the program and put in that bought serial number and that's when all the problems began.

Here is the problem: I go to record audio for a slide and once I click the stop recording button there are is no SAVE or CANCEL buttons at the bottom.

Both adobe help reps had to "clear preferences" which took them close to 45 min each to figure out. Today the rep said he thought I could just do this on my own if it happened again by locating the ADOBE folder in my documents (going to GO FOLDER and typing in ~Library/) and then renaming the folder something else like Adobe 8.0_new or something.

So, here it is just 3 hours since he "fixed" this, and I had not even logged off of the program as I thought I would finish the work tonite since he got it to run again and show the SAVE button BUT.... not working AGAIN. I tried to locate the folder and there are many ADOBE folders . I don't want to mess the program up.

Does anyone know how to resolve this once and for all?

How to Export High Quality Adobe Flash Professional CS6

Okay, here's the situation. I've created a series of separate files of animations using .PNG images, and JPGs. Each animation is less than 1 minute long - and are separate files.

I have tried exporting various ones, and have had absolutely no luck in getting anything resembling high quality. I mean the first animations made by humans were better quality than this.

It's utterly ridiculous how bad this program works.

Anyways...

I've tried altering the frame rate, dimensions of the document, different export files, different players to view, I've gone into the settings and made sure the highest quality option is selected, etc. I've combed the internet for weeks and have read EVERYTHING on the subject (not much!!). I've also watched every relevant youtube video and nothing has worked!

I am losing my mind over this.

I even tried opening the files in Premiere and exporting them and they look even worse! What the hell is going on??

The whole reason I began using Flash is because research led me to believe it was made for this purpose but it clearly can't do...anything.

Is there any solution? Or should I just look into a different program?

Captivate does not recognize my microphone

Hi there,

Another problem ... i have just reinstalled Captivate to overcome a different issue and this time (when I reinstall I always get something new go wrong) Captivate is not recognising my microphone. It is not showing in the drop down list of Audio Input Devices - in fact there is nothing in there at all. it was working perfectly before. the mike is not the issue either because it's working fine on youtube and for other progs. It's a Logitec ClearChat Comfort mike.

Is there a way I can get Captivate to find my mike? I have spent ALL day trying to get Captivate stable and working on windows 7. Please, please, please try not to suggest reinstalling because it will just end up breaking something else - but if i have to I will.

f4v flv videos in Captivate 5

I use Captivate 5 and am creating a session with slides and attached audio files for each slide. I am wanting to insert a video onto one of the slides in Captivate ( I already imported the slides and audio). I converted the video from wmv format to f4v using Adobe Media Converter. I imported the m4v using the appropriate menu option in Captivate. When I publish, the Captivate session will play fine on my PC. I can get to the slide containing the video and it plays as it should when I click the play button on the skin.

However, when I upload the course (which contains an html page with a link to the Captivate session) to our LMS (Saba), and launch the Captivate session, it functions correctly, except for the video. I get to the slide containing the video, the video area of the slide is blank and nothing happens when I click the play button on the skin.

Why would this play fine on my PC and not on the LMS? I read something about the f4v or flv file needing metadata. Is that the problem? If so, how do I get the metadata into the f4v.

The documentation on this from Adobe is scant at best, and not real clear. Some of the documentation is circular and not real helpful.

I’d appreciate any help ASAP.

I'm using Captivate 7. I have background audio playing. Adjust background audio volume on slides with audio is set to 15%. When played, the .swf file sounds great, until you pause it, or an interaction is used (glossary). When it starts again, it plays at full volume over powering the narrative. Any suggestions?

Jump to Slide Playing Incorrect Audio

I am using Captivate Version 8.

I have a button located on slide #7. This button's actions are set to jump to slide #5. When I preview the project and click on this button, it does jump to slide #5, but it plays the audio from slide #4. Once the one minute audio completes, it plays the correct audio from slide #5.

I tried creating an advanced action that would jump to slide #5 and stop triggered audio. This did not correct my issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Audio on publish

Hi,

I am using Captivate 7. I had recorded the voice over through Audacity in mp3 format and imported into Captivate. The audio sounds fine in the preview but on publish the audio is barely audible. Any help would be appreciated.

Audio Not Working in Captivate HTML5 Output

Does anyone have difficulty with HTML5 audio playing? Specifically, slide audio does not play after a Random Question slide.

To duplicate the issue:

1. create a new Captivate 7 (or 8!) project

2. insert 2 blank slides, each with Slide Audio

3. Create a question pool with 2 multiple choice questions and insert a Random Question slide between the 2 previously created Blank slides

When playing in HTML5 from the start (F11), the second background audio does play (is muted). Is there a workaround I can try? We need both: slide audio and random questions.

Videos will play in preview mode but not once posted to the webserver

We have a mp4 video that we attached as a event video to a single slide. It is in mp4 format. When you publish and play it from the preview or run it off the desktop, the video runs fine. However, once I upload the published file and run the course there, everything except the video plays. The loading bar just continuously spins. I checked and the video is in the published file that was uploaded to the webserver.

I recall in earlier versions, you had to put linkages to items in the published file by using a \file_name for Captivate to recognize that the item was in the top level of the published folder. Does not seem you can change the video link during the insert or afterwards.

Thoughts or ideas?
