I have many word .docx forms which I would like to convert to a form which can be filled in with Reader. The word forms presently would be like ...we [name of parties] desire to enter into...

I would like to have a program which automatically finds the brackets and inserts a rich text content control box and then inserts whatever is within the brackets for the placeholder wording.

Can this be done and if so, is it code in XML or am I totally off my rocker?

How to link drop-down list and remove option after selected.

I am creating a roster that has multiple positions on multiple pages. I have a drop-down list that is populated with all of the employees and want to make sure that the same employee cannot be selected for multiple posts. Ideally, when one is selected in a position, that person would not be an option in the other drop-down lists. Also, when the form is published, the end user will not use the drop-down lists in order. I have found script to remove selected items, but it only works when the user makes selections in order (List1, List2, List3 etc).

First time posting, any help would be appreciated.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm currently working on a form that has several buttons and on many Occasions it will add and remove instances. so about mid way through the form all of the remove instances have stopped working. it doesn't matter if I delete and read the action, or if I delete and recreate the sub form. LiveCycle document with dynamic expandable boxes, save as Adobe Reader with Extended Features looses ability to use Adobe Acrobat Pro Comment features without changing document out of the Reader Extended Features.

Documents are to be used in a class where students using Adobe Reader enter answers and send to instructors who will add Comments using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Instructors return commented pdf to student for further input..... this might go back and forth for several time.

I am not finding anyway for this to be done because when the document is 'Saved As' Adobe Reader with Extended Features a Security setting is locked preventing the Adobe Acrobat Pro Comment feature from working while in this Extended mode.

Any ideas?

How to handle 0 records returned via ODBC connection?

Hello,

I am connecting my form via ODBC to an MS Access database with FormCalc XFA. I know that's not ideal, but it works. I am stuck however on how to handle errors when the form is not able to return a record due to a bad search string.

Typically I am expecting one unique record to be returned, however at times there is no match based upon what the user has entered into the search field. I am trying to 'catch' the error and give them a custom message I write, or no error at all.

My Data Connection name is: EstabSearchResults

My search field name is: EstabSearchField

Here is what is run on the On Exit event when the user leaves the EstabSearchField:

I am quite a newbie to this community as well as the Livecycle program, recently I have been trying to construct a fairly basic financial form which the most part has been quite simple to achieve, however I have reached a stumbling block in that I wish to create a text field which represents in words that of a monetary value entered into a decimal field

I have achieved a result fairly easily using FormCalc WordNum which smartly reproduced my monetary input however it was displayed in Dollars & Cents when what I actually wanted was the UK currency of Pounds & Pence

I am sure this is a fairly simple fix for those in the know and I appeal to you for help but please bear in mind my technical abilities and my experience in this program is somewhat limited

Can text beneath Expandable Text Fields automatically move down?

I recently learned how to create a Expandable Text Fields in Adobe LiveCycle. My text box now expands as needed when people are entering content. How can I modify my form so that the content beneath my text box automatically moves down on the page when the text box expands?

I made a flowable form with two buttons with actions to go to a page, but they won't work when content flows into new pages. Is there a way to use javascript to take the user to a specific object? I think that will solve my problem.

I think I answered my own question. I used setFocus() with an object that I hid underneath a text field. Works perfectly, and it won't matter how many new pages a user creates in the flowable form.

Fields don't recognize their value has changed when a copy/paste value in inputed

I'm having a minor hiccup with my copy and paste buttons.

I have check boxes that, when checked, make other fields visible. The copy/paste actions recognize when the check box value is 1 and paste accordingly in the new instance of the subform, however, the invisible fields do not become visible, despite the check box value being 1 in the new instance. I feel like I'm missing something simple....possibly something that forces the scripting within the check box field to run since it is not recognizing that it's value has changed? If I manually click the check box in the new instance, the scripting works and the invisible fields become visible so I know its not an issue with creating new instances.

Any suggestions will be appreciated...I am new to this...

Back in 2008 in a LiveCycle forum, the question was brought up about horizontal expandable fields. I'm bringing up this question again, because I'm still running into overlapping problems.

I'm creating a new form letter which starts with a text box, then a text field to insert a name, and then another text box. However, in this case despite checking the width box (x), wrap subforms, text flow direction (left justified and flow content) etc. But I can't get the right text box to move to the right and the text field box overlaps. My vertical fields are working, now I just need to know how to do it for horizontal fields.

My question is about expandable fields. I tried out expandable fields in a new form I created and it worked. I then moved on to do that in a Word document that I imported to LC (dynamic). I added the fields and did everything by the book. However, I still get this message: Although the object is allowed to break deselecting the Allow Page Breaks within the Content option of the parent object restricts this object from breaking between pages. The expandable field "work" -- it expands, but then it overlaps the other fields. I need help in figuring out why that's happening. Thanks!

I am hoping to make a dynamic form and I'm wondering if it's possible.

I have a database with about 300 entries - pieces of farm property and a few bits of info about each of those properties. I want to create a form where users can choose the applicable piece of property from a dropdown list. Based on the property they select, another dropdown would populate with the crops associated with that property. Then based on the selection made in that dropdown, a specific form will be brought up.

For instance, someone selects property #102 from the dropdown. In the database, property #102 is associated with wheat, barley and corn, so the next dropdown would populate with those three crops. The user selects wheat from the dropdown and the wheat form would be called.

I hope I explained that well enough.

Is that possible? And if it is possible, how complicated is it to do? Assuming I already have the database and subforms, would this be a weeks-long process to script, or would it be fairly straightforward?

We are creating fill able forms in Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES4. The issue is when we email the PDF's or transfer them from the PC they are created on it seems to not work. You no longer can click the sign boxes and the buttons Print and Submit by Email don't work.

I have created an XFA form using LiveCycle ES ( v8 ) with a few fields.

What I need to do is

Open the blank PDF form
Update 3 fields
Save the PDF with a new name

Adding NULL value to datamatrix barcode in LiveCycle Designer ES2?

Hello,

for the German Post Service, I have to insert the null value (ox00) into the datamatrix barcode. But this value is always removed.

In Streamserve the null value has been added in 2009. To use a NULL value in a Datamatrix barcode, the string "\x0000" has to be used. And in PageOut, a new barcode setting has to be added: Decode NULL.

Does the livecycle designer ES2 provide such a solution?

My company president tasked me to look into LiveCycle and see if it would be a good approach to use for generating a web form for our company. The basic idea is that we would have a unique link for a particular database record, which the form would then display the contents of to a supplier to ask questions about the specifications of an item. The supplier would fill out the form, hit submit, and the data they entered would be saved to our database. The president came across the description for LiveCycle and thought creating the form, linking it to the database, and hosting it on our IIS server would work.

Keeping in mind that we only have this single application in mind and nothing else even on the table as a possible use for the application, is Designer a good tool for this purpose? From looking into it, Designer seems to be more intended for use with the other components of LiveCycle and more for enterprise use than something this small-scale. I have installed the trial edition and it connects to the database easily enough, but the other functionality doesn't seem super intuitive towards creating a form for this purpose.

I am so annoyed with Adobe I will try not to purchase any future products from them (over the years i have spent 1000's and recommended to many graphic design organisations)!!!!!

These are the reasons why;

1. When I download Flash Player - cause I am often asked - I keep making the mistake of installing Mcafee rubbish!!!!! Why why is a large reputable company peddling stuff that most of us don't need and if we did leave us free to make our own choice..

2. For a company that charges so much it should possible to get your answers easily - no human contact is allowed and questions can be only answered in a forum which requires effort and knowledge to set up... This to me is bottom of the barrel support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 to create fillable forms for people in my group. Without fail, people with mobile devices are unable to see drop-down lists, date fields, etc. All they can view is the artwork used for the form. I've read that b/c LiveCycle saves its forms in an XFA format, it cannot be read on Ipads and tablets. I've tried (without success) to open the document in Adobe Professional and save it in another format. However, the problem persists where it cannot be seen on Ipads and tablets. Is there a workaround for this even if it just only for them to see the data in the form as a flat file PDF?

I have a 5 question form I created. I'm using drop down boxes with a Likert Effectiveness scale from 1-5. I'd like to add a "Total Effectiveness" field to the bottom and calculate this based on the drop down box selections. How can I do this? Also - can I save such a form as "static" or must it be "dynamic"?

We have created a series of forms with fillable fields with Adobe LifeCycle 9 and we hung them on the web. Forms can be opened and filled out normally with the Adobe Reader 9 plug-in or later, but not with earlier versions. We have tried to convert the original files so that they can visualize with older versions of the Reader, but I can't, neither from the own LifeCycle nor from Acrobat X Pro.

I am using LIveCycle ES4 to create documents for internal customers. I was asked if it is possible to protect just one numeric field in a document, while leaving the rest of the document unprotected. My customer wants to protect a the time period for an evaluation of our products by an external customer, and make that time period settable by a supervisor, but not by the sales rep. Is this even possible, and if so, how? Thanks.

Problem statement: I have developed a password-protected form (let's call it Form X) in Acrobat XI Pro that I email to clients. The clients fill in and save Form X with Reader and email it back to me.

Works perfectly, it is nice to have an added layer of security for email.

The problem is that I now want to add image fields to Form X that will accept JPEGs. One page of such enhanced Form X has one such image field for accepting one JPEG. Above the image field is a simple text field for describing the image.

Solution attempt: Reading the Adobe forums, I get the impression that Acrobat XI Pro cannot do what I want, I need LiveCycle.

Question: How do I add an image field to Form X cost-effectively and with the easiest learning curve?

I am not a programmer, although I do know my way around computers. Help!

Hi,

I'm used to Acrobat Pro but new to LiveCycle. I need to hide several pages on a form until a user activates a checkbox. ie/ user clicks on "[x] category one" and the page that contains category one content appears. If the user deselects the checkbox, the page is hidden. ie/ user clears [ ] category one and the page with the content disappears from the user's screen.

\i think it's called 'reveal page' but am not sure. Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

I'm new to scripting in general, but have figured out enough to be dangerous in Acrobat. Unfortunately, Acrobat no longer fulfills the need I have for dynamic forms and I have started trying to figure out Livecycle. Is the scripting in Livecycle THAT different from Acrobat that I need to relearn the scripting I figured out in Acrobat? Below is an example. It is in a table where I am trying to determine height of instrument (HI) from the elevation (Ele) and the difference between back (BS) and fore sights (FS). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is the script I used in Acrobat and it worked:

Using LiveCycle Designer ES2, I created a 5x5 table. I want to number each cell of the table 1-25 in a small box in the lower left corner of the cell. I dragged a numeric field into the table cell, however the field takes on the same size as the cell. I can't seem to resize the numeric field without resizing the entire cell of the table. How do I stop this behavior?

I am trying to use date patterns to set the date format to mm/dd/yy

I've set the display, edit and data patterns to this format, however, when I test it in Preview PDF and enter a date "5/29" I want it to display as 05/29/14 but it displays as typed. Is there any way to fix this so that the user can enter the month/day and it will display as mm/dd/yy?

A list box may not be the correct design, but I need to create a list of 15 skills, which when the user clicks on one, they will go to another list of up to 500 specific skills to select one.
