Add marker control in Movie Menu

I have changed from using PE 8 to PE 12 and am finding and reading that this is a "light year's" jump. I am finding some things easy to use and others not so much. I am not totally new to DVD projects as I have had several other successful projects with PE 8. I updated as I was having crash issues and using PE 12 has seemed to eliminate all of those issues. Now it is just a learning curve to find out where Adobe has moved things, deleted them, or added new features. Which brings me to the added new features.

Before in PE 8 I had become acquainted with finalizing a project and adding a movie menu, with scene selections and music. Now with PE 12 it seems like there is a "new and improved" version but don't quote me on that! I have set my timeline markers but when selecting my movie menu the scene selections that show are not at all what my timeline markers are. I did see the option to uncheck Adobe's selection but that did not seem to work. In fact I cannot even get rid of the scene selection that did get selected. It also stated that I could set my own scenes with "add marker control" but after looking on my own, reading some of the forums and tips online cannot seem to locate where it is at, so that said

How do I delete the scenes that Adobe selected for me?

Where do I go for the "marker control"?

Where can I add music to my Movie Menu?

Any help would be appreciated. I have my video and audio unlinked and am trying to cut my audio file. I can get it to cut, I want it to cut off the first portion of the file, and it is at the start of my project. However when I do a "delete and fill the gap" it just deletes it and does not move it to the beginning of the project line. If I try to drag it over with the red bracket handle it will do that but it drags over the entire file like it has never been cut. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

PS Also I am used to "fade in and fade out", what happened to that, where is it and if it is not there how can I get the same effect? Thanks

I have looked at Steve's instructions on You Tube and it looks straightforward and have followed his directions. However when I open up the pan and zoom on my horizontal shoot the first zoom shot does not fill my whole photo and I cannot get it to show the whole photo it wants to crop off a share on top and bottom. Here are my settings, My project frame size is 1920 x 1080 I am in HD 1080i my capture is HDV. My images that are imported are at resolution of 150 and size of 1050 x 750.
Project Settings

I have done several projects before but just purchased Premier 12 and am learning more and more. That said I am finding that for some of the features that I want to do what I have my project set for is critical, so this is what I am taking pictures with, I have a Nikon Coolpix S 9100 and have it set for HD 1080 30 P (1920X1080) In doing some research and reading I am finding that Premier 12 automatically presets my project to fit the media that I import, am I correct in assuming that? So with that said I am doing a project and it set my project for NTSC-AVCHD-Full HD 1080 i 30. Before I add my images I edit my photos in Photoshop, I crop the photo usually to a 5x7 with a resolution of 150 thus giving me a 1050x750 image So all of that said these are my questions:

Should I be editing my photos in a different format size? (I did a test project and changed it to a 2000 x 1500) but than some of my photo on the time line was outside of the "safe margin" perimeter and wondering if at that higher resolution that I might run into crash issues as I tend to have allot of photos in a project)

What should my Capture Format be at? (Right now it is at HDV)

Under Video Rendering should I check the box Maximum Bit Depth?

In the new project set up should I check force selected project settings?

I know that I am asking allot but it seems like the more projects that I undertake the more questions that I have. I am also finding it very user friendly and have been using both the "quick" and the "expert" portions of the program. That said I have three questions,

Titles and text, I am using one with "scrolling credits", is there a function where I can either "freeze" the screen after it scrolls to the text OR is there a function to "replay" the text instead of just going "black" and stopping?

Also when I have added all of my clips onto the timeline and have my "curent time indicator" at the "end" it does not stop and "go back" to the beginning/home unless I manually hit the "home" on my keyboard. I want to make sure that when I go to burn that the movie will instantly go back to the beginning of the project.

Is is possible to do a type of "Ken Burns" panning and zooming with Premier 12 and if so how do you do it?

Thanks

However, I don't consider myself to be an "expert".

That said I have a few questions:

I used to be able to insert photos and rearrange them in the "sceneline", I do not see that feature in Premier 12 so am using the "timeline" that is there. However I cannot insert photos or move them around easily, I get my clips reducing in size. How can I insert new photos or move them?

Transitions seemed to have been reduced greatly in the availabilty of them, have they "gone out of favor", I had put a transition inbetween all of my clips in my previous projects with 8. Allot of them were merely the "wipe" feature. What is recommended with 12?

I have not gotten to adding music to this project however have noticed that there are allot of different styles available. However I want to be able to add my own music, can you give me tips on "how to do that", would I just go to the "add media" and get them off my computer and than add it to the audio line?

Thank you ahead of time.

However I have a completed project that has been burnt to a disc, and I do not have the project saved so that I can revert to the archives and burn another disc.

My question is there a way that I can "copy" the existing disc so that I can burn it again to another blank DVD? Or do I have to recreate that project again? Thanks

PS I had done the project with Adobe 8 and still have that program on my computer, however I have a new Adobe Photoshop and Premier Elements 12 ready for download.

To render or not to render?

Okay I have looked for information regarding rendering and have read some of the posts from Steve, Bill and A.T. and am still confused as to render or not to render. I am using Premier 8 and have done the update. I have background rendering turned off. My project is virtually ready to do a burn and on my time line the lines are all red.

So I have started from the beginning and have gotten them to go "green" but than if I close the program OR it crashes and I need to reopen it some of the "green" lines have reverted back to "red". I have allot of slides, transitions, and title pages in this project so it is taxing my system as it is. I have not as of yet rendered the whole project.

The question is should I render the timeline or not before I do a burn to disc? My music is added and the title page and scenes are there. I have read some yes and no responses regarding rendering so will wait to hear from the experts. How critical is it to do so?

Thanks

I was in the middle of a Premier Elements project, I had done save every 10 minutes. I have an external hard drive and it captured files that were marked pre and colored purple. They had the name of my project on them. I have put all of those files onto my new hard drive. However when I open Premier Elements "Open Project" the project is now longer listed. I than open the program and go to file and open project. I select one of the purple pages with my projects name under it, it goes to 100% but does not open anything. Is all lost? Do I have to start over with a "new project" or is my previous project there "somewhere"?
