RH11 Styles still won't apply in the CSS

I've been using RH11 since Jan., and struggling. I have had to manually change my styles in every topic because I can't get them to save in the default.css

For example, today I would like to use Heading 5. So I opened the default.css, changed the font to Arial 12, changed the colour, clicked on Apply, then clicked on OK. Then I saved the project. However, when I attempt to use this style in my project, it reverts back to whatever style it was before I changed it. When I open the CSS again, the style is exactly the way I changed it, but the changes won't apply to the content in the Design Editor. I have had this problem since day 1. My numbered lists have 12pt text and 10 pt numbers. My bullets have 12pt text and 10 pt bullets.

In this example, Heading 5 has been changed and applied (and saved) to the first line of text in the graphic below ("Category strengths are:"). But if you look at the text and the font size in the toolbar, they are 10pt. Look at Heading 5 in the Styles window, it is 12pt. But RH will not accept my style changes. Please tell me how to get styles changes to apply in the CSS, or even when I want to create a new style. I have tons of pages in my project and doing everything manually is driving me nuts.

Thanks,

Pam

Remove underscore from buttons, add Alt text

Hi,

Thanks in advance for your help. I am having more problems with the RH's Govt template. The forward and back buttons would not appear, so I have created my own buttons and incorporated into my user guide. However, there is an underscore appearing in between my buttons (it's not on my images). If I remove this underscore from the Topic (default) page of the template, it removes one of my buttons. My developer can't figure this one out either.

Also, when I add the Alt text into the HTML code, it does not appear when I generate the file. Here's where I am with this now:

RH's Back/next does not work, so I went into the Layout and added my own buttons, which appear here on the Topic (default) page of the template. What are all the underscores?

2. This is the generated User Guide - any attempt to remove this underscore will delete the button on the right.

3. This is my coding. You see that I have the Alt text in the coding, however, it does not appear in the generated user guide. Also, I don't see anything resembling an underscore in the coding.

RH11, IE10 - Still need help with flashing "Show" text and moving arrow buttons

The 'Back/next' functionality does not work in the Theme2_Government template, therefore I have added my own arrow buttons to the template, using the same image names that came with the template, and relocated these buttons slightly on the template. I have inserted the alt text in the coding (where it was designated in the original code) because there was no alt text in the code.

I have several issues:

The alt text does not display in the generated file (neither locally nor on the server, neither IE nor Chrome)

When I click on a topic in the TOC, the arrow buttons shift right, then back to the left

Also when I click on a topic, the "Show" text flashes on and off

2014/06/26: I'm just looking at the code today, and not being an expert, I am wondering if there is some way I can move the arrow buttons and the code around to make the buttons stop moving.

In the above image, 'Back next' has browse sequences, but these text links don't appear in the generated output. Can I delete the 'Back next', move the arrow buttons over to where 'Back next' are now positioned, and somehow change the code to make the arrow buttons stop shifting every time I click on a topic in the generated output? If so, how do I do this?

This is template BSBack browse sequence code for 'Back' text link:

<?rh-msp-bs-back-start id="browseSeqBack" widgettype="browsesequence" class="wBSBackButton" ?>Back<?rh-msp-bs-back-end ?>

This is template BSNext browse sequence code for 'next' text link:

<?rh-msp-bs-next-start id="browseSeqNext" widgettype="browsesequence" class="wBSNextButton" ?>next<?rh-msp-bs-next-end ?>

This is code for my arrow buttons:

<td><a href="javascript:history.go(-1)" style="text-decoration: none; ">&#160;<img
src="BSBack.png" alt="Back" style="visibility: visible;" width="60" height="31" border="0" /> </a><?rh-msp-bs-back-start
id="browseSeqBack" widgettype="browsesequence" class="wBSBackButton" ?><a href="javascript:history.go(+1)"><img
src="BSNext.png" alt="Forward" style="visibility: visible;" width="60" height="31" border="0" /> </a><?rh-msp-bs-back-end ?></td>

Can someone please tell me how to fix this so I can send it off to the client?
RH11: Glossary and Index do not display in generated output

I am having such a tough time with RoboHelp. My current issue is the glossary and index not appearing in the generated output. They used to. However, yesterday I thought I should go in and clean out all the junk in my project, i.e. I had about 5 glossaries and 5 indexes because I was testing things out. I made sure I didn't delete the populated glossary and index, but by the end of the day, they were both gone. So, I located these again from a backup and imported them back into my current project. Everything is there...all my terms and definitions, the index and the links...blah blah. NOTE: Everything is there, but I was required to block it out due to privacy issues.

However, this is how it now displays when I generate: Why won't this populate?

Thanks,

Pam

Styles not applying in RH11

Feb 21, 2014

Hi,

I recently downloaded the RoboHelp 11 trial version at work, so I'm really new to this app. I am the only one using it, and if I can figure it out during the trial period, the company will purchase it.

My biggest problem right now is styles. I am creating online help to attach to another application. I started from scratch - I tried importing from Word, but that created a whole lot of style nightmares. I used an existing RH template, created books and pages, put my content into design editor, but can't change a style so that the change is incorporated into my content. What's the trick?

I've read so many help topics, but still can't figure it out. I tried changing the default.css, then highlighted the content and selected the changed style from Styles and Formatting. Nothing. I tried creating new styles in Styles and Formatting, highlighted the text, double clicked on the new style to apply it...and Nothing.

What am I missing here? How do I create and/or change styles so they will be applied to my content? I'm under tight deadline to get this online help completed, so if someone could please help a newbie, I would really appreciate it. I see a RoboHelp class in my future.

Also, if I right click on a topic from Project Mgr and go to Properties, the Properties window displays two style sheets. What is RHStyleMapping.css? Is that from my template?

One more question - how do I turn off the repeater on the Header Background of the template?

Sorry, I just thought of one more. I'm using the Theme2_Government template, but I have incorporated my own graphics and banner. How do I remove the Title font on the Header of the template, or at least change the colour so it is hidden in my banner? It only allows me to change the font. (see image below)

Thanks,

Pam
