Phone, Tablet and Desktop from Muse?

Ive used the tag: {tag_pagecontent} and all is working fine so here is my question:

If I just re-create the phone and tablet versions, re-scaling the data etc within Muse, does BC detect the different versions and display the correct site for each device? Also, when you publish the site and it now contains a tablet and mobile version (from Muse) where does that go within BC? Do all the re-scaled files taken from the original desktop layout get added to assets somewhere?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

No image preview on mouse pointer when placing files

Hi

I I'm new to Muse but after watching several tutorials on Adobe TV and Lynda.com, I'm confused as when I place a graphic file into my layout, I see no image preview on the mouse pointer? When I first added a logo, I wondered what was going on as saw nothing until I clicked the mouse (or click n drag). I'm on the very latest version as just downloaded from my CC panel and it asked me to upgrade to the latest Muse 2014.1.1 so is there a preference to show a placed image preview?

thanks

Beej

Signing Client up for BC usage

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in here

I am a full CC 2014 member and I am building a website in Muse and hosting it on BC for a client. I am also building my OWN new site to be hosted on BC and have a couple of questions;

Firstly, I see in the Dashboard on Partner Portal, that both site addresses have 'expiry' times? Both sites will have stores so I opted for the last in the list when setting them up (as suggested on the excellent video 'Adding Business Catalyst to your Muse sites') to have full e-commerce etc. Ive had to stop the design of my own site at the mo as I have a paying client and wanted to use BC and Muse to give them a superb website. I AM getting there (and extremely pleased with the results so far ) but I am a little worried about this expiration date. Does it mean I MUST Upgrade the sites before this time? Will they just disappear? What if Im not ready by then? The reason Im concerned is that I have an operation on Tuesday 7th October to un-trap a nerve in my arm. This has caused me years of pain and problems having been a pro illustrator and designer for over 20 yrs. Im a little worried that my recovery time may screw with me getting the sites finished BEFORE the expiry date, so a little info on that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, Im at the stage almost where I want to bring the client in to show them how to use BC to manage their contact forms, store purchases etc etc and Im a bit worried as I can't find any info on how to do this just yet?

My client is an ex-movie star. She was in a horror film in the 80's and now, she has new fans who have tattoos of her character from this movie and we are building the site to showcase their ink of her on their skin. It's pretty cool! Because of the horror element I'd really like to launch the site just before Halloween and funnily enough (ooh, spooky!) the expiration date for her site is 31st October! But, my website (which will be my design business and basically my agency as a self-employed designer etc) is due to expire on the 29th! I know I can't get mine finished before that and Im really concerned about what to do next? I understand that I must hit the 'Upgrade' button but I have no idea what happens after this?

So, I need to upgrade my clients site first. Can she do this and input cc payment info? Can she easily add her Paypal info to get her shop working or do I need to do this? Im sure she doesn't want me to have her cc details! And how do I get her to log-in using her own account that only sees HER site and not mine (or any others I will build in the future)?

Finally, I noticed that on the Partner Portal there is a strap line which states I can have my own agency website for free if I have a paying client - is that correct? If so - that is awesome!! And if so, how do I do that so I can assure my website on BC doesn't disappear. If I could sort that first I could just forget about it (stop panicking!) and then concentrate on finishing her site and getting it published and live (so I can get paid! )

Any info is most appreciated. And after the op, maybe working and typing is gonna be easier? I hope so! I need two hands for Photoshop!

Thanks very much all for any advice.

Beej

Going from PC to Mac? Please help!

Hi all

I have a CS3 Production Premium Suite and really want to upgrade to the full Creative Suite Design Premium CS5 package. My worry is this: I have a PC version. My PC is currently in storage elsewhere in the UK for a couple of weeks and I am in London now livng with my fience. She has bought a lovely yummy new iMac from Covent Garden store (what a great place that is!) and i am wanting to do some artwork for a job that is coming up (and to generally get working on it!)

I was told that I could switch the Mac to run in Windows and then, perhaps i could install my CS3 on that way and work? Problem is tho, I haven't de-authorized it on my PC (in storage) and also, I would like to really upgrade it to get all the amazing benefits of the new CS5 software and i really need the Designers version now. I have no idea what to do next??

Do i upgrade to a Mac version and install on my girlfriend's Mac? The first issue here for me is that because i have family and commitments elsewhere in the UK I will be living and working between 2 addresses very soon. If i install mac software CS5 on my fience's machine I cannot then use this on my own PC when I get my own place and get the PC out of storage as i assume the older CS3 installed on that machine won't work any more like it used to in the old days?

Do I upgrade to a Windows version and install that on her Mac running windows and at least then, if i have another location to stay at I could install the software on my own PC when it comes out of storage and simply swap every week between her machine (Mac) and then mine (PC)?

Maybe a subscription would make more sense until i get myself sorted but then, if i do this, what effect does that have on the software I already own?

I am really worried (and confused) as i have a load of work to do, re-build my website and have a couple of new projects and I am at a loss as what to do next for the best re the Mac v PC thing? I currently have NO PHOTOSHOP or Adobe products on her Mac at ALL and have realised that putting my PC into storage may have been a bit stupid now! Arghhh! But, for now, I need a work-around somehow and to be honest, her new mac is so much better for the software (processor-wise and massive monitor!) than my aging HP PC!

Any help/advice would be most welcome

Thanks

Beej

Markers in Flash exported from Premiere!

Hi All,

Followed the tutorials and tips on the videos CD which came
with my CS3 Pro package and I have tried this several times and
it's driving me nuts now! Export from encoder in Premier, settings
are fine, import in Flash as instructed using skin to playback,
everything works fine but even if I extend the frames to 1 minute
(the length of my test film) I still see no markers or cue points
or added frames which I added in Premiere as instructed??

I have tried and tried and still no joy . . is there a
setting I am missing??

I wanted to have text and a logo fade out as the movie fades
and I basically wanted to test this function (which seems really
useful) so I can easily align my text animations with the timeline
of the FLV but it's simply not working.

Thanks in advance :)

iPlayer and YouTube Style Playback?

purchased my creative suite 3 production premium and would
really like to know the following: The BBC (and channel 4 in the
UK) are now providing free players so you can watch on-demand
content of BBC programmes broadcast over the last 7 days on all BBC
channels, directly on your PC. I can see the player uses Flash but
it's amazing that the software knoes when a time limit of 30days
has lapsed and the d-loaded movie will be deleted from your
downloads.

I have been providing tutorials on-line now for 5 years but
they have been static. I have dreamed of providing a service like
this and really want to offer my members and customers
internationally, the ability to watch our videos after paying a
small fee. Is this soemthing that can be easily made using
Flash/Premiere/After Effects and deliver it to them via a
d-loadable movie file?

I use Actinic for shopping cart and can already offer
d-loadable artwork files, photoshop files and other tutorial items
to the customer but it is time for video and I have been saving for
a while to splash out on the right software so the Production
Premium suite was the one for me. I now have it and haven't had
much time to even play (have got experience with
Photoshop/Flash/Premiere) and already have a few movies on iTunes
and YouTube which have had rave reviews and only uised MovieMaker
to make these!

Any advice would be very warmly welcome as this project
really needs to get up and running now, are there tutorials withing
the p[ackage itself to make a podcast/youtube style movie with
player?

Thanks in advance,
