5.4 fixed bug info: Sharpening/Noise Reduction…….

I see that there is a bug fix in Lr5.4 for "Sharpening/Noise Reduction were applied inconsistently depending on crop and export image size". Does anyone know what the details of this fix is and if it addresses some of the Sharpening Export issues in recent threads. I know most of the issues in the threads were misunderstandings of viewing the exported output but it would be nice to know what this fix addressed.

Publish Service Sort Problem/Bug

Lightroom 5.3 OSx 10.8.5

This may be a minor bug. When I go to the Publish Service drop down menu and try to sort the Publish Services by Kind or Name, it sorts the Collections instead as if I used the drop down in the Collections. Its not a big problem but I did wonder why my collections got sorted until I discovered what was happening. I restarted Lightroom and this did not help.

Adjustment brush artifacts

I noticed these artifacts when using the adjustment brush when I accidently had the sliders set to positions I normally wouldn't use. The artifacts show up no matter how fast or slow the brush cursor is moved. It happens when the flow is around the 50 setting and feathering is close to zero. The problem is easily eliminated by using a lower flow and more importantly a higher feather which is what I would normally use if I want to "paint" in an adjustment. This is just for user info and I don't consider this a glitch but just misuse of the sliders. I does show how the brush design works as overlaping circles though.

What does "Edit Published Collection" do?

If I right-click on a published collection there is a command "Edit Published Collection". In the dialog box that comes up it seems the only thing I can do is rename but there is already a rename in the right-click menu. Hitting EDIT in the dialog seems to do NOTHING. What am I missing on the use of this command. There doesn't seem to be any info on this in a google search.

Cosmetic bug or glitch with Visualize Spots

When using "Visualize Spots", at random the thumbnail in the film strip and less frequently the thumbnail in the navigator panel will change to the same view as the main photo. The thumbnails will sometimes return to normal when switching to another photo and other times they will be "Stuck" in the Visualize Spots" mode. After turning off the Spot Tool you can recover the thumbnails just by clicking on them. This is mostly a cosmetic glitch. There is no need for the thumbnail and navigator to change anyway. Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

On the following clip, I selected the five photos and one of them got "stuck" and the selected one has a changed thumbnail. Sometimes the selected thumbnail is ok or will quickly switch and then switch back to being ok.

Sync spots not working in 5.3

Spot syncing with "no" spots is not working in Lr5.3 (did not work in 5.2 either)

If I reset the spotting on a source photo and sync the "NON" spotting to a target photo that has spotting, the spotting is not cleared as it should be on the target photo.

If I reset the spotting on a source photo and put ONE new spot in the source photo and sync this ONE spot to a target photo that has spotting, all the spotting is removed from the target photo and the ONE spot is the only one in the target photo as expected.

Shouldn't the sync of spotting always work the same, with or without spotting in the source photo?

I think this should be considered a bug or at least a design flaw. OSX 10.8.5 LR5.3

I think there are at least 2 bugs in my opinion that need a quick fix as opposed to the normal update schedule.

#1 - Sharpness and Noise not transfered to small JPG exports.

This is probably a critical bug for a lot of users sending images to clients or posting on the web. This bug has been acknowledged by Adobe.

#2 - Horizontal crop not holding on Vertical photos

You can do an undo to get the orientation back but just cursoring through the photo is enough to cause the behavior. It even persists through a restart. This has been acknowledged by Adobe.

I can deal with these for awhile but I would think a lot of pros and others will be adversely affected as there doesn't seem to be easy or acceptable work around.

Delete from Disk glich

mac osx 10.8.4 LR5.0

When I right click on a photo in the library and use "Remove Photo" and then use "delete from disk" the file goes to the trash can as expected. The only problem is that if you right click the photo in the trash there is no "Put Back" selection for the photo deleted from lightroom. There is a "Put Back" if I delete from the OS. Below are two screenshots when right-clicking a file in the trash can. As you can see there is no 'Put Back" in the lightroom deleted file so it lost the directory structure where it came from.

When I do a shift-Reset in the develop module to do an "Adobe (reset)" I get the following error message.

Remove from Stack and Split Stack problem

I am using Lightroom 4.3 and OSX 10.8.2. I have recreated the Preference file, restarted the computer and restarted Lightroom. Still the same problem.

Select several photos in the film strip in either Library or Develop mode. Right click and select "Stacking/Group into Stack". With the stack still collapsed, right click the stack and select either "Stacking/Remove from Stack" or "Stacking/Split Stack". Only the top photo will be left in the film strip. The count of the photos in the folder is the same as it originally was so they are still in the catalog but all the photos except the top one that was in the stack do not show up. The only way to get them back is to do an UNDO. I know this is not the correct way to use these options and if you use them with the stack open they work fine. I accidently selected this and noticed what happened. Even the Help file in Lightroom indicates the Split Stack option should not be available with the stack collapsed as shown here but it is available. It doesn't say anything about the Remove from stack option.
