Text entry box submit not working

Hi there,

I'm using Using Cap 7 and am having problems with an activity. Here's what I'm trying to achieve:

Users type an answer to a question in a text entry box and submit it using a button

I do not want this activity scored (no marks eg percentage or other grade) but I do want a record to show that's its been done

The answer is to be saved and accessible to each learner via Moodle (the SCORM package is being published on Moodle)

All learner's answers to the question to be accessible to the teacher via a Moodle report

And, ideally, the learner's answer to be emailed to them when the submit button is clicked.

I realise there are several things to configure to make this happen but, to start with, I know I have something set up incorrectly on Cap7 because Reporting is greyed out for the text entry box (see image). I've also attached images of my my Quiz reporting and settings in case that's the issue. In its current published state, the submit button I have associated with the text box does nothing - it's inactive on Moodle. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am sure I saw the steps somewhere in here or via google search but I forgot to save it in my bookmarks.

any guidance would be appreciated.

C

Player options disabled - how to activate?

I need my project to be able to be viewed on PC/Mac, laptops and tablets, but not cell phones. I have resized and repositioned all slide elements for these devices have enabled Smart Position. Things look fine on all devices when I check via Edge inspect. The problem is when I view the published project (on Moodle) via my PC and laptop all is fine but it's not right on a tablet. The font boxes are not in the position I had specified and the text size is wrong too. How can I fix the tablet view. They look fine until I view the project. For some reason the bullet indent is not 'sticking'. Please refer to the images below. The top one is Primary view, the one below is what I see when previewing the project. Another issue is that, even if i remove the bullets and try to correct the problem using shift enter, and adding spaces as an indent method I end up with the same result. It's driving me crazy! Is this something I am doing wrong, or is it a bug? It is not showing in the drop down list of Audio Input Devices - in fact there is nothing in there at all. it was working perfectly before. the mike is not the issue either because it's working fine on youtube and for other progs.
Ok, I am confused. Update Cap 7 to Cap 8

I have Cap 7 that I purchased not long ago - say 7 months. Can't recall the cost but a LOT of $'s. Then I also had to sign up for a Cap Subscription, that was another $19.99 au per month. And, because I use Photoshop I ALSO had to sign up for a Cloud subscription - another $30au per month.

Along the way, Photoshop and a few other Cloud products I use have had updates and the Cloud subscription enables me to download these for free. This seems sort of fair, because over time Adobe gets more than the purchase price of these products from me and i pay in smaller increments.

Now let's skip to my Captivate subscription. To upgrade this product to the latest version - and I have to do this because it's the only version that enables me to create materials for mobile devices - i have to pay an extra $475 au (remember I paid several $100 for v7 only a few months ago!) AND I continue to pay the $19.99 per month.

OMG! This is just NOT right. Is there a way around this or are all private Captivate users trapped in this situation? Have I got this right? I hope I am mistaken!

I have 10 numbers displayed on a slide to represent each tip.

When a number is clicked, the relevant tip (in text) is revealed in the centre of the slide and a matching narration plays.

Current configuration (happy to change)

The numbers are image buttons set reveal the matching text when clicked, and

I am using a rollover slidelet on each for the audio

My problem

As the image above shows, this approach works except that the text remains on screen.

This means end users see jumbled mess of overlayed text as they click through the numbers.

How can I set this up so that, when a different number is clicked, it changes to display the text and play the audio for the most recently clicked number AND the elements for the previous number/s immediately stop showing/playing?

Please note, users may click the numbers in order but also may click them randomly.

I really don't know where to look so any advice would be appreciated - can't be done; can be done and here's how; or can be done and here's a link to a relevant tutorial .

thanks C

Having trouble importing audio to background

Hi there ...

Yet another question for Adobe Captivate 6.1 64 bit.

I'm trying to import audio into the background of my .cptl project. To do this i am using Audio/Import to background, then I'm selecting one of the Adobe looped sounds from my computer.

What i get is the following screen and it all seems fine. I can edit the sound, adjust volume, listen to it, etc BUT there is no save option under the Add/Replace or Edit tabs. When I get to this point, all Captivate functions are locked. I can't save or even log out. I have to use windows task manager to close the application. It feels as if Captivate wants me to accept or save the audio but I have no way, that i can see, of doing this.

Am I doing something wrong? Perhaps it's important to note that I had installation problems with the 64bit version of Captivate but thought I had fixed everything by adding the right dll files. Is it me or is it a problem with the product? In case this helps, I have windows 7 Home Professional.

Can someone advise?

Thanks,

C

Edited video audio - no sound

Hi there,

Hope you can assist me.

Some of the audio files in my video show as "system" and others show as "recording". It's a video filmed in a virtual world, so the "system" files are the interviewee's responses and the "recording" files are me, the interviewer.

The video has been trimmed in places to remove unwanted material.

All was fine until I tried to edit the audio files (adjust the sound volume up in parts and silence a few odd background sounds).

Each time I made an adjustment an additional "Clip" audio file was created and added to the Library. I don't know why or how these work. They are the top 3 files in the attached image.

Long story short, when I now play the video back only the "system" files can be heard, not the 'recording' files. However, when I listen to the "recording" files from within the library or the audio edit window I can hear them clearly. So they are fine, they just no longer work when the video is played.

Can anyone help, please? I hope there's an easy fix for this.

C

I have made a 2-slide project and am trying to publish it as a zipped .swf file to upload to Moodle. When I try to publish it the "Publish to Folder" option is not available. It does save a single zip file (not in a folder) but when I upload this to Moodle I get an error message saying some elements are missing. My publishing efforts and Moodle uploads for other projects have been fine.
Trouble recording video - Captivate 7

Hi there,

I am trying to record a demo video using Captivate 7 on a PC running Windows7 Home Premium. I just upgraded to version 7. Video recording used to work perfectly on my PC when I was using Cap6.

I have a variety of issues. All seems fine up to the point when i click the "record" button. After that I get the 3-2-1 thing ... then nothing. When I click the "End" key no preview of the recorded vid shows. When I look in the folder where the vid is supposed to be captured there's a file in there, typically named something like this RecordingVideo_180692769130333359.cpl.

I looked up what a .cpl file is and it's some sort of Windows file. Here's Microsoft's definition: Each tool in Control Panel is represented by a .cpl file in the Windows\ System folder. The .cpl files in the Windows\System folder are loaded automatically when you start Control Panel. I have no idea why Captivate would be saving a video as this file type.

Another odd thing is that the red outline of video's border shows up after i have finished everything - even after i have closed Captivate. I have to reboot my PC to get rid of it.

Can anyone help me please? I really need to get this video (and others) created as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Adobe's Subscription Policies - something is very, very wrong

Hi,

I purchased Adobe's eLearning 6.1 suite not long ago and, as a newbie, I refer to these forums frequently to find answers to things as I muddle my way through. It's really helpful and I am glad these forums exist - thanks!

However this post is not about the products themselves, rather Adobe's subscription and pricing policies. While searching the forums what has struck me is the extreme anger reflected in many of the posts. I use various forums for help but rarely, if ever, have I found such a massive ground swell of angst aimed at the developer's purchasing policies. There seems to be a mass of Adobe users out there who feel - quoting some of the common terms used - "cheated", "scammed", "trapped" and "furious". I have mostly been looking at forums specific to the eLearning Suite so I can't comment on the views of those who own other Adobe products, but the eLearning (Captivate) guys are clearly far from happy.

The posts also indicate that many feel Adobe could not care less about their problems and, given the predicaments the policies have left purchasers in, this certainly rings true.

As an instructional designer it's disappointing for me to have invested a significant amount in a great suite of products (albeit a bit buggy) that will enable me to create accessable and interactive learning programs, only to discover that that the perception is that those who make and market these products are far more concerned with securing dollars than they are with producing a quality product and, in turn, a quality output for me.

If Adobe is truely concerned about their customers, the sheer volume of negative comments posted in these forums should have them, if not caring, at least looking seriously at the damaging PR that's being generated. As my post heading states - something feels very, very wrong here and I wonder if Adobe has any plans to remedy the many problems they have inflicted on their customers?

I guess I'm just one more voice in an ever-growing crowd ... but hey ... I had to say something!

C
