Paste mocha mask default is now intersect. Why?

The previous default of 'add' is what I (and I suspect most other users would want to use) use 99% of the time. If anything it should follow the modes that are in Mocha (which is usually add)

Please change this back.

Raytraced reflections not rendering motion blur

I'm pretty sure I've done comps before where motion blur was rendering in the raytraced reflections, but for this comp it doesn't seem to be working. It might be me that's missed something somewhere but I don't think so.

Have a look at the front game (layer 23, Game 05) - the game has motion blur but the reflection of it in the floor doesn't. The floor layer has motion blur switched on. The floor has a feathered mask on it but deleting it has no effect. Raytrace settings set to quality 8, tent.

AE CC 2014, Windows 7, nVidia 780 6GB

Are we ever likely to see disk playback in AE?

What is the reasoning behind still having to playback from RAM?

Is it because in the past disk drives were no-where near capable of playing back uncompressed footage? With SSDs so cheaply available these days surely there is no issue here any more? Further to this, why does AE need to playback uncompressed footage when previewing anyway? Why can it not render to say ProRes, DNxHD or some other compressed format and play that back? 99% of displays in the world are 10bit and there is no difference in viewing 16 uncompressed compared to say 10-Bit DNxHD 180Mbits. We can still render uncompressed at the end if needs be, but for previewing 10-bit compressed is fine.

In recent years disk caching has help enormously but even on a 6-core i7 with everything cached to an SSD, I am still having to wait for AE to render to RAM before I see a preview. This isn't so much of an issue for short sequences but for anything approaching 30 seconds or over it is.

I think Adobe are missing a huge trick here as this is the only thing stopping AE from being considered a viable finishing system. With it's plugin support and friendly interface it's already light years ahead of systems such as Flame and Smoke in what can be achieved and in the time it can be achieved in, the only thing it's missing is the ability to hit that space bar and for a client to watch the whole thing back without the need for a lengthy render.

Before people start talking about Premiere and AE together with dynamic link, it is usable for some stuff but is far too flaky and constantly switching between the two programmes is not a professional way of working.

Adobe are missing a finishing system in their product line-up, yet they already have one right under their noses without realising it.

*While I'm at it. More GPU acceleration, support for multiple GPUs and multiprocessing that consistently works would be nice. Forget adding new features and plugins - let the 3rd party software vendors worry about that kind of thing

Corner pin = soft. Any other CP plugins and it's about time AE got some resizing filters?

I'm doing some shot clean up using a corner pin from tracked Mocha footage. As usual the standard AE corner plugin sends the footage soft and a unsharp mask doesn't return it to how it looked before. Does anyone know of any other corner pin plugins that do a better job at keeping the image sharp? I've had a look around but have yet to come across one.

Alternatively, it's about time resizing filters like the ones found in NUKE and various other packages (even Smoke has them and that thing is useless) were introduced to AE and that would help to solve issues like this. AE artists have been begging Adobe for these for years and so far all they've given us is the little sampling checkbox and a detail preserving upscaling plugin, not quite the same.

I use it everytime I do a key to create a garbage matte along with Simple Choker. The Extractor doesn't cut it as it is only effecting the luminance of one channel and keylight it too expensive on the processor to use for a garbage matte.

Project Manager does not slip clips in timeline (references pre-trimmed timecode)

All the clips on the timeline are crosshatched.

As I set it to trim with no handles I can slip each clip to the start but if there were any handles on the trimmed media this would be a nighmare.

Premiere CC

Windows 7

Chris

AE CC Cache folder gets deleted

When I check on my drive for that folder, AE is quite right - it is not there. I use a seperate SSD for all my media caching and another drive for footage and another as my strartup drive. I set AE to use a folder called A:\AE Cache. For whatever reason AE is deleting this folder. Other folders on this drive remain as they are. Unless I have a goblin sneaking into my suite on a night deleting this folder or Windows decides to delete this folder all on it's own then it is almost definitely AE that is doing it.

Thanks
