Why is there a limit to PNG export image sizes?

This came to my attention around the CS4 era, but I've recently noticed still remains with CS6 - but just why is there a limit as to what image sizes we can export PNG files at [AKA around the 8000x8000 area at 400dpi for me]?

Surely as long as we have the computing power [and RAM] than we should be able to export beyond the 10000/400dpi pixels range [or does it depend on the computer]?

Look, I love Illustrator [and CS6 is not only blindingly fast over CS5 - but packed with sweet new features] - but I'm glad I was a cynic and did something that I've been doing since CS4 [at least].

Namely creating a folder [of folders] of all my Brushes / Swatches / Scripts / Styles / Templates / Actions / Workspaces etc. [I would list custom Stroke Widths over here. but I don't know where that info's kept] before installing a new edition - as the new versions [still] don't ask whether you want to migrate these from your current instalement [so had I not have done my aforementioned, I'd have lost all my custom support I've collected and made over the years].

This would be a nice UI / Consumer amendation for CS7 and beyond - thanks!

Hey guys, I just learned in the last week or so about this update [and the one after it], but this one fails to install [and I presume the one after will because this one isn't there].

I haven't installed the HTML5 pack for Illustrator CS5 either [though I want to, as its the main reason I want these updates now really], and curiously the Adobe Applications Manager only brings up update 15.0.2, not the one prior.

So yeah, I am abit confused [and approaching annoyance]!

Making Illustrator CS5 act abit more like InDesign CS5 regarding aligning/snapping objects together?

Hey there,

I recently experienced InDesign [CS5] and was blown away with how accurate it is [and how it actually snaps objects together - no small gaps left in-between that refuse to be closed], what I don't get is just why this is the case? Both programs are very similar in terms of interface design, and both are used for print works...

So yeah, I know I likely can't make Illustrator CS5's behave exactly like InDesign by now, but is there any settings I can use in the Preferences menu [which for me are pretty much defaulted] that can make it behave closer to it? [And no, even the Smart Guides are tricky to place right]

Template Error Msg

Hey there folks,

I've run into an odd problem with the a layout template I created off the index file I made for the portfolio website I wish to make, and have 'dummy' index files for all of the relevant folders ready for the template to be applied to, but whenever I try to apply said template to any of them I get this notification:

'There is an error at line 11, column 7 (absolute 526) of "C:\Users\...\template1.dwt":

Nested editable regions'

Is it something to do with the attached css file [even though no visual media is, obviously, displaying in this template format]?

It's really annoying nevertheless, and I want to sort it asap [I'm workin' on a Web Design course alongside this personal project of mine].

I would attach my website folder [so far], sans the assets folder, but there doesn't appear to be the option to here[?].

Any suggestive nuggets of wisdom would be much appreciated!

Smudge Tool

Hey there, I'm an two week Illustrator [CS4] newbie and well I haven't been able to find this tool [and its in Photoshop 7...]. The Warp and other tools are cool, but not the same thing, so is there a smudge tool at all is what I'm wondering?
