video rendering extreemly slow or just halts

Being playing with video a bit since I bought a Sony RX100 III. Other than the well known problem with Dolby audio I find that rendering of video clips in Photoshop CC is very hit or miss. Sometimes the clip renders (very slowly if many adjustments have been made) or a rotating disc appears and nothing at all happens, task manager shows some activity but not nearly as mutch as when rendering is happening properly - the program seems to be in an infinite loop. My Windows 8.1 machine is reasonably powerful, if I use DaVinci Resolve Lite (if you think Photoshop has a steep learning curve try Resolve!!!) then even with quite complex edits clips render at around real time (25fps). Something is clearly wrong with the video rendering routine in Photoshop which is a pity as I only want to do the occasional bit of video editing and rendering and certainly don't want to pay for a dedicated video editing tool or invest hours of time learning Resolve (the Lite version is, amazingly, a free download).

Am I missing something? Do others find Photoshop video rendering flakey? Is there a work round for this problem?

imported photos are lost by catalogue after import

If I now go into Lightroom and import the pictures again at their existing location all is then normal but any edits I did when the pictures were originally imported are lost. I have tried uninstalling and then re-installing Lightroom from CC but this makes no difference. Anyone got any idea what is going on and how I can sort it out?

Lightroom CC, Windows 8.1 (update 1)

Since posting I have answered my own question. It all boils down to my finger trouble sometime in the last few weeks in identifying the right drive for the pictures to be imported to. I blame it on Windows expecting everything to be on one vast C/: drive.

Message was edited by: David Rosser when I realised I was importing to the wrong drive and answered my own question.

selecting browse in bridge in photoshop 2014 launches CC applet, what is happening?

After a bit of investigation I removed Lightroom from the system and re-installed using the CC applet. Now when I try to Edit in Photoshop 2014 Photoshop 2014 opens but the picture I want to edit has not passed accross ata all.

I then had a try at using Bridge. I selected Browse in Bridge from Photoshop 2014 and instead of Bridge I got the Adobe CC Applet pop up offering to update Bridge (which was up to date anyway) and warning me about loosing settings if I did. I updated Bridge and then updates for Lightroom and Photoshop 2014 were offered which I installed. These have not made a blind bit of difference I still can't pass pictures from Lightroom to Photoshop and still can't open Bridge from Photoshop - it's still opening the CC applet.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Dave

Problems launching Bridge from Photoshop and opening files as smart objects in Photoshop from Lightr

I am running Photoshop CC (up to date as of today) and Lightroom 5.2. I am hitting 2 major problems. In Photoshop if I select File/Browse in Bridge I get the following message

"Could not complete the Browse in Bridge command because Photoshop was unable to find the JavaScript plug-in".

However if I simply launch Bridge as an application it works ok (now I have reset the default application for all the appropriate file extentions to Photoshop CC rather than Photoshop in Bridge preferences) and opens the file in Camera Raw 8.2 in Photoshop when a Raw file is double clicked.

The second problem is associated with opening raw files in Lightroom 5.2, editing and then trying to "photo/edit in/Open as smart object in Photoshop" . In this case Photoshop opens with a blank screen and nothing happens Eventually about a minute later this message appears in Lightroom 5.2

"The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CC could not be launched."

Rather strange message as the first thing that happened was that Photoshop CC opened!!

Same thing happens if try "photo/Edit in/Edit in Adobe Photoshop CC" except that having shut down photoshop I see a message from Lightroom 5.2 saying

Lightoom was unable to prepare the selected file at ..... for editing. It will not be opened.

When I click the OK button on this message low and behold the tif version of the RAW file opens in Photoshop. ready for futher editing with all the Lightroom edits applied.

Can anyone help me in sorting out this problem please

Operating system is Windows 8 64 bit and I am running the 64 bit Adobe applications.

Colour Management in Lightroom 3 Print Module

I have never been entirely happy with the Lightroom print module but have recently noticed some quite marked colour inconsistencies when printing. I use a HP B9180 printer and always use application manages colour (and have learnt to set the printer driver up outside Lightroom in the Windows 7 control panel to avoid it reverting to one of HPs built in printer setup options). I also print using QImage Pro which I have set up as an external editor, test images sent to QImage always print as expected but the same images printed on Lightrooms 3 have a Magenta cast. I have always assumed that lightroom kept the image in its internal ProPhotoRGB working space in the print module and used the specific printer/paper ICC profile to convert directly from ProPhotoRGB to printer/paper specific "instructions" (QImage certainly does this as sending it the image file in aRGB or ProPhotoRGB gives exactly the same result). However I have been looking at the printer template file and amongst it found the following

printingFileProfile = "sRGB",

printingFileResolution = 300,

printingProfile = "C:\\Windows\\system32\\spool\\drivers\\color\\HP PSPro B9100-Advanced Photo Glossy.icc"

printingresolution = 300,

renderingIntent = "Perceptual",
<p lang="function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}" ondblclick="" onkeydown="" onkeypress="" onkeyup="" onmousemove="" onmouseout="" onmouseover="" onmouseup="" style="min-height: 8pt; as well as managed by application under the colour management tab)?
<p lang="function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}" ondblclick="" onkeydown="" onkeypress="" onkeyup="" onmousemove="" onmouseout="" onmouseover="" onmouseup="" style="min-height: 8pt;
