HTLM not loading in multiple browsers

Hi all,

I'm trying to view an animation of a student of mine and it is not loading in Firefox (32), Chrome (37) or IE (11). It plays fine in Animate CC 2004. It's not doing anything too sophisticated - just a series of pngs. The student has claimed it works on Firefox - an earlier version.

Any thoughts on why it it is not working or what I could do to troubleshoot this? The student has claimed it works on Firefox (earlier version).

Script on this page may be busy...

Hi all,

I've started using Edge Animate with a class of mine and have seen an error in one student's project where got the error:

"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete...."
followed by

Script file path\edge_includes\edge.4.0.1.min.js:172

I tried removing scripts, replacing the edge.4.0.1.min.js file with a clean one - did not fix the problem. Only way I could resolve it was to copy and paste all the content to a new clean file. Side note - copy and paste wasn't all that simple.

This is on Windows, using Firefox. Chrome doesn't even load anything.

Any thoughts on this and ways to resolve other than what I have done?

Color Stabilizer and flicker

I have some video footage that changes colour through the sequence due to lighting changes. It's a speaker next to a big screen with slides and as the slides change, everything around it gets a different glow - orange, blue, yellow.... I used the Color Stabilizer effect, which was great in getting a uniform colour pallete across the video. The problem is that I now have a flicker. It is partially due to the video getting a bit grainy. That was resolved with the Remove Grain effect. What's the best way to minimise/eliminate the flicker?

Director's Future Meeting - Summary and Evaluation

Hi all,

I plan to give a summary of Wednesday's meeting but wanted to clarify a few things with Adobe before posting. For now, I'll give a brief summary.

The intention of the meeting was to make it clear that the community expects and deserves information about Adobe's roadmap. The first question I put to Adobe was does Director have a roadmap and what's preventing Adobe from discussing it. That question wasn't really answered. The roadmap was put simply that Director is being developed as primarily a Shockwave games development tool.

The meeting uncovered some of the features for Director Next - mainly in the area of 3D. That was actually the main substance of what was communicated. There was not much depth to other questions which covered Adobe's view on Xtra development, price, support for other platforms, new types of media...

Anyway, will post more once I speak to Adobe which I hope will be tomorrow.

Hi all,

I haven’t posted here in a while : )

I’ve been speaking to Krishnan from the Adobe Director team. He is keen to have an open discussion about Director, it future and expectations of the community. This will be a live discussion where any question can be put on the table. Don’t know how detailed the answers will be. However, it will be an opportunity for anyone interested to speak directly to the key engineers and product management team for Adobe Director.

I have long petitioned for Adobe to engage with the community more and be more open with what they are doing. I encourage everyone to be part of this discussion to show that you believe this to be true as well.

Krishnan has just got back from GDC and will be speaking with people at his end to organise a time for this meeting. If anyone wants to suggest a good way of voting for the most convenient time, let me know. For now, watch this space and I will post updates.

Hi all,

We all know that Director never gets the level of engagement from Adobe as is the case with other products. Even so, it has been particularly quiet on the Director front recently. With that in mind, I contacted a few people on the Adobe team to push for more sharing of information. There is still a reluctance to be open with information, but I have managed to find out one thing that has been happening that I thought I’d share here.

As you’ve seen with Adobe products, including D11.5, the help was moved online with a system where people can comment on the pages to make corrections, provide additional information or ask questions. That’s on pages like:

I’m a moderator in the Community Help and have made contributions to page updates like the one above. I recently spoke to Pawan, the Adobe Senior Documentation Manager. He mentioned that a large effort has been put into updating and improving the Director help pages. In Pawan’s effort to improve the Director documentation, he looked for Adobe people in other product teams that had Director experience. Pawan's team has drawn on expertise from these x-Director Adobe staff, talking, engaging and even learning from them.

I asked Pawan about the roadmap for the Community help and when will see changes. I was told that early next year (Jan), the Director help will undergo a major revision based on information gathered. The roadmap for the help is to develop an AIR viewer that will allow users to access and search the help more easily from the product, and even download a local version of all the help pages so you don’t have to connect to the web every time you want to look something up.

This is code-named, Community Help Client. It builds on the base that TCS 2.0 AIR help viewer provided for Adobe Captivate and adds following key features besides usual improvements:

· Mac version (same experience in Windows/Mac)

· Download online content and user settings for notifications for new online updates

· Skin improvements

The download option installs the AIR help client and a package of Flash Builder Help. This client is being improved to incrementally serve needs of most Adobe products. Posted this on the Basics forum but it is Lingo related so posting here in case anyone is interested and misses the other post. If you want to discuss anything, perhaps would be worth keeping that on the Basics forum thread.

I decided to try video my lectures this session and put them online. I have posted some to YouTube and UNSWTV (my university's own YouTube like site). I can't make all public as my uni is strict about copyright. If I use any work in my lecture that is not my own (videos, audio etc) and can't get permission from the owner, it can't be made public. But, for now, some are online for viewing.

I'm still learning how to best capture my lectures.
