What permissions/roles do BC partners have on a site?

Hi all,

I've had different information given to me about what different users can do on a site.

I have two different BC partners working on a site - one being the current BC Partner managing my site and one providing ad-hoc services. What limitations does the BC partner NOT currently managing my site have? I've been told it's just the ability to add templates - which seems like a minor (and odd) difference. Are there other things they can't do or do they both have the same rights, privileges and roles?

Thanks for any clarification!

Regards,

Troy.

Confidential support ticket correspondence being CC'd to everyone

Hi there,

We've recently had some major problems with out BC Partner and have attempted to change. A dispute erupted [which I won't bore anyone with the details] so I sent a reply to my contact at BC accounts@businesscatalyst.com who replied CC'ing everyone in on the ticket. Some of the confidential comments that should not have been visible by the CC'd recipients are potentially damaging to our relationships.

I've CC'd her to ask why she'd done that...and she replied doing the same.

This is extremely frustrating (especially given the already frustrating problems already experiencing) that I can't contact anyone at BC directly.

Wouldn't it be clear to anyone that some comments should not be distributed to all and sundry? If it's a "feature" of the ticketing system wouldn't send a personal email directly to avoid this happening?

I'm so frustrated. We're in BC Hell. Can't get responses from our BC Partner. Can't get any conversation happening with BC directly. Can't transfer site.

This vent make me feel ever so slightly better.

Isn't there any way to get in touch directly with a representative of BC either via email or phone?

BC support required for existing BC Site

Hi there,

My name is Troy Kenah, I'm the Vice President of The Orangutan Project which is a non-profit organisation based in Australian. We raise funds and awareness to protect the umbrella species, the orangutan, in Borneo and Sumatra. Protecting the orangutan also protects the Sumatran tigers, elephants, rhino (and a myriad of other endangered species), local indigenous cultures and - of course - the forest.

Our organisation has raised over AU $6 million over the past 10 years and $1.6 million in the last year alone. We have a great support team and mix of professionals both volunteer and paid (and a mixture in between) who have helped us grow our organisation.

We currently have 1 BC expert who is doing a great job in helping support and develop our sites (3) but the amount of work is too much for one person to manage.

We're currently looking for an Australian-based additional individual or company to aid us with some of this work. The work will primarily be small ad-hoc/planned projects that interact with out existing site(s). An extensive knowledge of the finer workings of BC such as apps, the API interface and javascript are essential.

We have a large backlog of work so the initial requirement will be approx. 10 hours per week. This may vary considerably depending on the current workload and tasks at hand. All work will be carried out based on a brief and quote basis (with obvious exceptions for scope change/creep).

If you're interested in working with please get in touch and let us know what your current hourly rate is.

Consideration for a charitable discount is appreciated but not essential :-)

Regards,

Troy Kenah.

http://www.orangutan.org.au

0416 273 135

No "undo a previous import" link

I posted this on the old forum, and had the response (below mine) which made me a little cranky.

[orginal post]

Hi All,

I'm about to perform some imports of data in my BC account but wanted to make sure I could "undo" these if required.

Several posts refer to a process of "Undo a previous import" but I can't see this. Under Admin -> Import Data I selected "Contacts" to import a test contact. Apparently after this import there should be a "Undo a previous import" option - but it doesn't appear.

I have full admin access to my account - can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Regards,

Troy.

[support response]

Hi Troy,

The Undo Import option has been removed because it was not working properly. It was too easy for users to delete the contacts and all orders and cases assigned to them. If you need to do some testing please you can trigger a test site and do your testing there.

Best wishes,

Mario

From what I've gathered, the ONLY way to do mass deletes in BC is to create an export list, reimport - then "undo a previous import". Without this function there is no way to mass delete. Hopefully I'm wrong...but how can this be a serious CRM if there is no way to mass delete contacts? I know I'm not the only person to have this issue. Mario above suggests a test site - but that doesn't work because I know exactly what I want to do and it must be done on a live site.

What I'm trying to do is search for all customers meeting certain criteria and then deleting them all. We have about 20,000 contacts and will be looking at deleting between 6,000-9,000.

Troy.
