aihostadapter for illustrator cc 2014 (for use with flex)

Flex extensions are still working in Illustrator CC 2014, so before we jump to new CEP panels - is there a way to get aihostadapter working for CC 2014? currently it's not working, i.e. I can't capture ART_SELECTION_CHANGED event.

Layer comps ID and name

Hello all,

I'm facing unusual problem currently. In CC 2014 it's now possible to switch right in main document layer comps of placed files (smart objects or linked).

Properties panel shows layer comp names of those smart objects.

But... I looked into scriptListener code and switching of layer comps in child files is done through compID. But if you want to switch layer comp in the opened file (edit contents), it is performed with layer comp name.

I need to be able to pass layer comp id from parent file to opened child file, and switch layer comp accordingly.

so, 2 questions:

1) Is it possible to switch layer comp in document by layer comp ID somehow?

2) Is it possible to get layer comp name, if you know layer comp ID (and vice versa)?

I know this information is inside image resource block in .psd file, but parsing .psd with script would be an overhead. I tried to do it with plugin, but no success yet - can't get this data inside filter plugin...

FIle.openDialog bug in Photoshop CC2014 OS X

I've found out that calling File.openDialog or File.openDlg from HTML panel brings up corrupted dialog. It's often empty with progress indicator running, but showing no files. Also, if I call Place file command with ScriptListener code ("Plc "), once the file is placed into photoshop dialog is not closed until one presses ok or cancel in transform operation, that happens right after placing file. But controls for this are usually hidden behind file selection dialog still on the screen

That doesn't happen in CC and doesn't happen with CC2014 on windows

Although flex extensions are deprecated now, people still use photoshop cs5/cs6.

I wonder if there's a skin available which mimics e.g. photoshop interface/controls. It seems like configurator extensions were skinned in that way.

Is there any chance to get this or similar skin? the one that ships with EB doesn't look much like creative suite theme, although named like that.

I understand it's possible to create one from the scratch, just checking out - maybe one exists already

Get image resource handle in filter plugin

Hello all,

In the past, I have written filter plugin which reads slices data, using PIGetSlices()

Now I need to get the information about layer comps. As far as I understand, it's image resource with 1065 resource id. There's no symbol property defined like for slices or xmp, so I can't use getPropertyProc unfortunately.

Is it still possible to get this handle in plugin?

I've tried this, but it returns 0.

Handle layerCompsHandle;

size_t outSize;

int32 rezID = 1065;

layerCompsHandle = HostGetResource(gFilterRecord->handleProcs, kPhotoshopSignature, rezID, &outSize);

any ideas would be appreciated

EB2.1 CS5 AI extension w/ HostAdapter throws error

Extension targetted at CS5 Illustrator with the use of HostAdapter throws rather cryptic error when I try to build it using Extension Builder 2.1

Any ideas?

(It's just a test, created from the scratch with wizard)

Persistent extension

Hello all,

Configurator 3 allows to tag extension as Persistent - this way it doesn't reload each time it's minimised to dock/maximised back, i.e. loads at the start of program.

Is it possible to do the same with CS Extension Builder extension?

CSExtension / CSXSWindowedApplication don't have "persistent" atribute.

I'm wondering whether it's possible to use PropertyUtils functions in automation plug-in, eg PIGetXMP(), PISetXMP(), PIGetSlices()? So far I get errors after calling these, maybe I miss something

this is not working for me in Illustrator CS6 & CS Extension Builder 2.0 (Flash Builder 4.5)

I have <mx:Window> component

calling it from CSXSApplicationWindow (same from CSExtension, in fact)

In CS6 this window is shown as very small one. Any ideas how to resize it?

Slices info from PSD document

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to convert slices info to XMP data, so that they'll be available for further processing with .jsx scripts (Yes, I know I can just save .css and parse it then, but that doesn't suit me for some reasons).

So, I have found the description of slices resource format here

and implemented processing in my plugin. It worked just fine on some test files I have created from the scratch.

But later I've started testing on some real life files and guess what - resource format is just plain different (see screenshot of memory dump)

So, 2 questions:

1) Is it possible to resave the file somehow so that slices resource will be converted to described format? Saving with 'Maximize compatibility' makes no difference unfortunately.

2) If not, is there updated PSD File Format Specification which describes this new format? I see that it's more intuitive and readable than old one, but still...
