Email personalization does not work with no first name

In Business Catalyst, if you insert the tag { tag_recipientfirstname}, the tooltip on this feature advises that "First name of the recipient (replaces with 'Friend' if first name is empty)".

This is false advertising.

It does not replace with 'Friend', it just leaves it blank.

Obviously, this is a major problem when trying to send out personalized emails, and doesn't help us make the case for a client to use Business Catalyst instead of MailChimp, iContact, or any of dozens of other email tools that reliably provide this simple, simple feature.

When can we expect this simple, basic feature to function as advertised?

WYSIWYG editor adding SPAN tags

Ever since the last release, I've noticed a really annoying bug in the WYSIWYG editor. At some point, when adding paragraphs, it starts adding a SPAN or FONT tag that makes the text a different color. Happening on multiple sites. Very annoying.

Anyone else noticing this behavior? Is this a known bug that will be corrected in the next release?

Email when case status changes

I have a question about workflow notifications upon case escalation.

We have a web form setup to trigger different workflows via a dropdown, per these instructions. So when a case is created, a workflow notification is automatically triggered to users in the role for that workflow. This part works.

What doesn't work at the moment is when an administrator goes to a case under a contact in the CRM and escalates the case. The desired action is that a workflow notification be triggered when the admin manually escalates a case via the CRM. Every workflow has an escalation role selected, but the people in that role are not getting email notifications. This has nothing to do with the timed escalation within the workflow, just when the case status is changed manually.

Is this possible? If so, what are the steps?

Email campaign sending multiple times

We received several reports from clients this morning that email campaigns they sent out yesterday went to recipients multiple times. Like 20 to 100 times. Per person.

Anyone else having this problem?

Any idea what happened?

Limit results for Media Downloads module

Is there any ability to limit the number of results output when using module_literature to display a list of media downloads? I want to only display the most recent media download item in a category.

Different auto-responders based on form field selections

We have a client who wants to send a different email response to the user based on a field they select in that web form. For instance, have a set of radio buttons. Select button A, user gets email A. Select button B, user gets email B. Etc.

I'm pretty sure this is not possible, but just throwing it out to the crowd in case someone has a hack to do this.

Automatically place order with UPS

I was wondering if there was any way to set up a workflow that notifies me, allows me to send a notification email to the customer telling them that they ordered, allows me to automatically set up an order sheet and then notify my customer with a tracking number, a workflow that is kind of like when you sell something, for example on EBAY. Thanks.

Blog Post does not create URL

We have a user who is trying to create a blog post, but on multiple occassions, when they copy and paste the title in, it does not auto-create a URL for the post. If they type in a title, that doesn't work either. They are using Chrome on Windows 7. The issue is intermittent, works sometimes but not others.

Any ideas? They are on a limited internet connection -- would that be the issue? Is it pinging the server before auto-creating the URL?

Delayed updates in API retrieval

I'm running a script that updates our CRM database via the API, but when I search for results a few seconds later also via the API, the updated information is not there. It is, however, reflected in the admin console.

I know there's a delay in Custom Reports displaying updated CRM data... is this the same delay for displaying updated data in API results? If so, what are the parameters? Is it a 10 minute delay, or a 7 minute delay, or...?
