Editing photos with either very dark or very red faces - the rest of the photo is fine

I posted this once but can't find it so obviously posted in the wrong place. I would like to know an easy way of lightening just the face of a person in a photo - the background is fine. I would also like to be able to change the colour of some faces - e.g. for some reason, one person in a group has a very red face. - I've tried auto colour correct and adjust colour for skin tones (this one for some reason will turn the entire photo a strange shade of orange, yellow, blue or green!! I am using PSE 13 on a Macbook Pro.

I would also like to know how to remove the shine from individual faces.

a word of explanation - I am working with about 1600 photos I had scanned in from my photo albums (going back to the 70s) - for the most part, the scanning was pretty good but there are several instances when I've had the above issues.

anyone with PSe 11 or 12 issues on a Mac upgraded to Yosemite who are using an iMac

Are any Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 or 12 Mac users experiencing problems on a computer other than a Macbook Pro (e.g. an iMac or Mac Mini) that has been upgraded to Yosemite? I just upgraded and my PSE 12 freezes - I found a workaround by using a mouse instead of a trackpad. I'm just curious - is it a Macbook trackpad/PSE conflict or and Yosemite/PSE 11 or 12 conflict?

Where are the "Organizer" files from PSE 11 stored on a mac?

I have lost all my albums from my PSE 11 (Mac, using Mountain Lion) -- the album names are there but not the files within the albums. I tried the reconnect and the computer just went crazy. Seeing as I did a Time Machine back up of all my files yesterday when the Albums were all present and working, I thought maybe I could just drag them over from the backup to my hard drive - however I can't find where the organizer stores these albums. I did find a folder inside Adobe that says "organizer" and inside that there's another folder that says "11.0" but even on my oldest Time Machine back up, that folder is empty - so obviously it's not the correct one. Anyone have suggestions where I could find the albums within Time Machine?

I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 on a Mac running Mountain Lion. When I opened PSE today and the organizer, I noticed that the Albums all had a "- sign" - sure enough, I looked in each album and they are all empty. I didn't actually notice it until I'd created a new album, dragged in some photos, looked at the photos in the editor and then went back to the organizer where I found that the album I had been working on was empty. The photos themselves all appear to be in the media of the organizer but just not in the albums an longer. Any suggestions to easily get them back? or if not, how the heck do I just delete an album?

btw, all my "folders" still show up below the albums.

a PS.. since posting this, all the media has disappeared from my organizer (the albums part) previously if I clicked on the "all media" button, it would show me all my photos but they have now disappeared as well.

a new glitch -- now when I double click on an album - photos appear in it that don't belong there -- in fact in most albums, I'm getting the photos I just imported into my hard drive today and made into a new album!!!

Help (again), my computer was running very slowly so I ran some diagnostic and "fixit" programs on it. After that, I am no longer able to see the photos that were in the albums I created - if I try to reimport them, it says they are already in the catalogue. All I see are white boxes!! I cannot see them in the photo bin of the editor either. I checked and all my photos are in their original folders where I off-loaded them from my camera. Obviously my fixit program broke the links. any suggestions on how I can get the photos back, or even just delete the albums and catalogue so that I can start again? thanks for your help!!

the really weird thing is that I can do a slideshow of the supposedly missing photos -- but they still don't show up as thumbnails in the albums!!

How do I move my photos from the organizer into the photo bin?

PSE 11 on Mac running Mountain Lion. I managed to import some photos into the Organizer, But how do I get those photos into the Photo bin of the Elements Editor? I actually have opened 3 of the photos with Editor but they don't appear in the photo bin. I am probably missing something pretty obvious but am totally new to PSE 11 - the last version I used was PSE 8 which used the Browser option in which you could just click on the photo you wanted in the browser and it would open it in the Editor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

By using the Organizer in PSE 11, am I physically moving the photos from my already created photos on my hard drive, or am I just creating an Organizer folder whose items point to items on my hard drive. I would not want to physically removed my photos from the folders I have already organized on my hard drive.
