Hello, can anybody help with this?

Is it possible to add to the 'Item added to cart' pop up button options? I would like to add alongside the OK button a 'Proceed to checkout' button.

I have found the script that allows me to over-ride the alert messages Customizing Online Shop Alert Message Strings but there's no mention of customizing the buttons.

Muse published to BC - BC synching to Muse problems

We have a problem with a Muse site that has been published to Business Catalyst. http://www.parkerandassociates.co.nz/

The client needs to access the File Manager which by default with Muse is not enabled, so in order to allow this the setting 'Enable online content editing (incompatible with Muse)' in My Details was enabled. We noticed that if edits were made in BC (namely uploading pdfs and linking theses to areas of text in Muse pages) and the enabled compatibility was left on, when the site was opened again by us in Muse the ‘Merge changes’ functionality began to ‘unravel the site. It would begin to highlight each text box and elements on the page (none of which had been edited), one by one. In other words if we just clicked 'Merge all changes’ it would delete the entire site, one element at a time. Changes that the client made in BC were corrupting the Muse file on synching back to Muse. We told the client to make sure the compatibility option was disabled after changes were made and this seemed to fix things. Initially this stopped the ‘unraveling’ and we were able to continue merging the in browser edits with the Muse file, until yesterday. Now we can’t merge new edits without this problem arising.

The site is also using the added Blog Modules by Muse Grid Adding a Business Catalyst Blog to your Adobe Muse website

Any assistance or advice on what is going on greatly appreciated as we have no idea why this is happening and it's starting to look like the site needs to be rebuilt in BC and abandon Muse (obviously we don't want to do this).

Can I toggle on/off the displaying of events by category on the Events Calendar?

Is it possible to do this? I'm sure I saw this just recently but I can't find any information telling me whether it's possible or not.

I found information talking about filtering between News and Events on this page Modules | Quick reference and tried this from what I read there (my own customization of the code) , which has a category's id at the end, but it hasn't worked. I was hoping to get the calendar to display just events categorized with the selected id number.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Apart from adding the html directly to the Event Details each time an event is created, is there a way of adding fields to the 'adding an Event' process so that a user can just fill in the information required? Like a web-app I guess. I would like to be able to add these fields as they need to appear in each calendar event detail.

Muse CC 2014 - In Browser Editing - if FTP access denied

Hi. We have a site built in Muse, the hosts have not allowed access via FTP so all changes must go through them = a real pain in the butt. So, this would be the perfect solution for the client to make their own edits and changes. My question is, is the fact that the host provider is denying direct access going to be a problem once the site is exported from Muse with settings correct etc for In Browser Editing? Will the In Browser Editing still work under these conditions?

Hi, I hope somebody can see what's going on here, I'm not sure if it's a Business Catalyst issue or a code issue itself, which I think it's not.

Collecting sensitive information through a form

Hello. I've never done this before so am wondering what is the best way to approach things.

I need to build a form that is collecting a users sensitive bank account information via a form submitted on a BC site. What is the best way to do this? Should I set up a Secure Zone that a user has to register to and then fill out the required information once logged into the secure zone? I understand that I don't need to get a SSL certificate for BC as it has a shared one through worldsecuresystems.com but I'm not exactly sure how I use this to make the form collecting information secure. Or will it be secure by default?

Any further information making this clear will be greatly appreciated.

Browser Fill function

Hello, can somebody answer this for me please.

Is it possible to have the Browser Fill feature function like a slideshow?

Basically I want a series of images in the background as a slideshow BUT I want them to scale according to the browser size. Is this possible? I can load the basic slideshow widget and get it in the background (arrange/send to back) but it doesn't scale according to browser size.

Is this possible?

Enable online content editing Muse site pages in BC

Hello,

This is one for the Muse/BC experts out there.

We have a Muse site that has been uploaded to Business Catalyst. In order that the client could upload PDFs and have access to the File Editor we have turned on the "Enable online content editing" located in the My Details panel for the site, as described here Business Catalyst Help | Work with pages

The problem is that the client has made normal content editing changes in BC using the 'Edit' tools, but when we have re-opened the site in Muse and said yes to allow Muse to update the file with edits from BC, the Muse file deletes content that has not been deleted in BC.

So my question is, does turning on "Enable online content editing" in BC screw up Muse's ability to update itself with BC edits. or is something else going on?

Hope somebody can throw some light on this.

Shipping options for different countries

Hi, this is the first time using BC's full E-commerce tools, some things are clear, others not so.

I've studied the BC info quite a bit and watched the tutorials videos that I can find but I'm still not clear on this - How do I tie the appropriate shipping option into the country that somebody wants the item delivered to? ie, What is stopping the buyer from selecting the cheapest drop-down shipping option? For example, the site is in NZ, somebody from UK purchases a product, in the Shopping Cart United Kingdom is selected from the Destination Country drop-down, and if I have more than one custom Shipping Option what's to stop the buyer from selecting the cheapest in the Choose Shipping Option drop-down? I can't find how to prevent this from happening.

Can I add an icon somehow to the Individual Product - Small layout to indicate the product belongs to a specific category?

Hi, hope I can explain this clearly enough, I've been looking a fair bit but haven't yet found the answer to this question.

Is it possible to add an image to the Individual Product - Small layout so as to indicate that a particular product belongs to a specific category as well as the main category that it will belong to. For example, I have a bunch of items, all belong to either Summer-flowering, Winter-flowering, or Spring-flowering, but some of them can be flagged as Highly-scented. If the product does belong to Highly-scented I would like to be able to display this visually as an icon on the small_products layout. Is this possible? I haven't been able to find anything that lets me do this, nor find anything that tells me I can't do it.

How do I get the custom template working?

Hi, I have asked this here before and got a half answer, but on trying the answer things didn't work out, so I'm trying again as I feel the previous thread has been lost.

I want to create a custom list template so that I can display a list of News Announcements on a home page as described on this page Business Catalyst Help | Using custom templates for modules

I have done all it says; created a list template and saved it as listHome.tpl in the Layouts/Announcement folder. On the page I have linked to it with the following code

{module,announcement,a template=”/Layouts/Announcement/listHome.tpl”}

But it doesn't generate a list, the page merely displays the code. Seems simple enough, yet it won't work. Can anybody tell me where I am going wrong please?

Transferring client email account to Business Catalyst

Hello. A client is about to switch to their new BC hosted site. Their current email is hosted by the same company that hosts their email account and has been told that by cancelling their site hosting they will also be cancelling the email hosting, which sounds a bit irregular to me, but that's what I/they have been told. So, if they choose to use the BC site email host solution, will they still be able to use their current email addresses? How do I go about setting this up? Can anybody please direct me to clear documentation that explains the steps involved.

Hello. Can I make the News Announcement module work for both the desktop and phone version of a site? I want to use one set of News Announcements so have created a separate template for the desktop detail and the phone detail.

On the mobile News page, seen here, news - Latest News (make sure you reduce the browser to a phone size) I have altered the module code generating the announcement list from {module_announcement,a,,,,} to the following so that it uses a mobile specific template (as suggested on the BC help page here Business Catalyst Help | Using custom templates for modules). The template is in the Templates folder.

{module_announcement,a template="/Templates/MOBILE-INNER-News-pages.tpl"}

But it isn't working yet, on selecting a news item link on the mobile version the detail loads but it is the desktop version not the mobile version. Is my code snippet wrong? The news items themselves have been assigned the desktop version template which I imagine could be the problem. Is there a way around this or do I have to create two sets of news announcements, one for desktop the other for phones?

Hi. Is it possible to adjust the photo gallery module's code in a way that makes the image that gets displayed on selecting the thumbnail image display no larger than the browser? I have a client that's uploaded image that are pretty large and would prefer not to have to save them as smaller images if possible.

Muse site on BC - URL Redirects list not working

Hello. A Muse site has just gone live on BC host.

The URL redirects don't appear to be working.

Doing a Google search on 'parkerandassociates.co.nz Amy Williamson' gives a result leading to http://www.parkerandassociates.co.nz/people/amy-williamson/ From the screen grab below the Redirect is showing that this should be working, but in reality the page is not being found. I tried several times to edit the Action and also imported the Import Redirect Urls method and it imported successfully.

My import file was CSV and had one row for consisting of the following columns Old Url (= /people/amy-williamson/) New URL (/amy-williamson.html) Enabled (True). I wasn't quite sure what to put in the columns for Enabled, so I put 'True' as shown below. But still the redirection is not working.

Can anybody tell me where I could be going wrong?

Hello, I have my News page set up so that it displays the news announcements as a list on the side of the page and the latest news article in full in the main body of the page. Seen here http://waitakeries.businesscatalyst.com/announcements/auckland-unitary-plan

This is ok, but it's forced by setting the announcement's url as the Menu navigation's link address. I'd prefer not to be doing that, and would rather the navigation pointed to a news.html page with the latest news announcement generated dynamically. I thought this was possible, but I've had a bit of a search here and on google, haven't found the solution as yet.

Importing an external database of images into BC

Is it possible to upload from an external intranet system to BC? I have a client with a database of images on their own intranet which they would like to upload/merge into the BC site we are building for them without having to go through the laborious process of loading them one at a time into what ever web app/gallery we will be using . They have asked the following -

"Are you able to write import scripts to populate content if we schedule an export to ftp/web service etc?.

All the data is stored in SQLServer and interfaces/reporting have been done in c# asp.net/Delphi.

The only thing we do not have is Image attachment for the equipment (this is a manual process on the existing CMS) but all other details are in SQLServer.

Depending on how your system can be manipulated we can automated some sort of data to send to it."

This is a bit beyond my level of understanding/ability in BC but am happy to make it work if I know what I am doing. Is what is being asked possible? I know I can import a customer database into the CRM system, can I do something similar with images being key?

BC dynamic menu behaving differently in Safari

Can anybody see what the problem may be with this, I've had a pretty good look myself but I don't understand what could be causing this problem - the top navigation menu's drop down function for the Products item is not working in Safari, it works perfectly in all other browsers.

I have assigned my own CSS to the menu items, all using this in case it is relevant .topNav {width:auto; padding-right:10px;}

Also, if somebody could clarify for me - when assigning ones own CSS to menu items, will the BC 'Item Width' still get referenced? I have assigned width:auto; but it seems that the dynamic menu settings are over-riding this?

FAQ Module and anchor links

Hello. Is it possible to add an anchor link to a question in the FAQ Module so that when linked to it from another page the answer expands?

I've tried a basic approach of adding an anchor link to the answer content but the hyperlink pointing to it only works as far as getting to FAQ page, doesn't expand the desired question. Is this doable?

Hello, can somebody clear this up for me as I'm a bit confused as to how this is done correctly. I have read through what I can find here and online but still have questions.

My client had an existing site www.carpetvision.co.nz and with their new branding has a new site www.flooringvision.co.nz which was built in Muse and is hosted by Business Catalyst.

I have added the non www version of www.carpetvision.co.nz to the site domain in BC and have edited the settings so that it forwards to the new domain name www.flooringvision.co.nz; this works fine. However, I could not do the same for www.carpetvision.co.nz.

I added the following code which has done the trick of redirecting the www version to www.flooringvision.co.nz

My question though is, is this the best solution? It appears to be working fine, but is there something else I should be doing within BC that should be doing this automatically? Something I'm missing? As the BC approach for the non www worked perfectly.

Hello.

The agency I work with have sent me their Muse file of a site and I have made some changes to it and need to upload the latest version to the client's site's account on their Business Catalyst account. Muse won't let me do this, says I can't access the url and have to choose a different one, and then uploads to my own BC account. Should I be able to upload to another BC account, or is this not possible?

I did a test where I uploaded to my own BC account, then downloaded the complete site via ftp and then uploaded via ftp it to another test site, everything worked ok, but it was within my own Muse/BC account structure. Assuming this process works with the agency account (upload my BC files to their account via ftp), would there be issues with Muse and further updates in the fututre?

Any advice and help greatly appreciated.

Submenu positioning align left not working

Is it possible to align the submenu items left when the top level is using Uniform Spacing (tried selecting the text alignment options, nothing wants to work)? Scrolling links not consistent across browsers

I have 7 links to sections on the page, it all works perfectly in FFox and IE (9 and 10 = good) but in Chrome and Safari and IE8, for the lower links on the page (from "What Clients Say" onwards), the images' positioning for each section are not as they should be; if you compare them across the browsers they sit lower on the page than they should, and it seems to be an incremental creep.

The images are using the Scroll Effects animation tool, and the elements in each section use groups a fair bit.

If anybody from Muse would like to take a look at the file I'd be happy to send it to you.

Any help with this would be really appreciated; I spent quite a few hours trying to work out what was going on but couldn't make it right.

Muse anchor links not behaving the same in all browsers

This site is scrolling to anchor links on one page. They work fine in IE and Firefox but in Chrome and Safari they start to move out of the positioning that they should have, and by the 7th menu link they're well out. Any ideas on what coul dbe causing this? http://riceandco.businesscatalyst.com

Hi. I've seen a few questions kind of like mine, but they haven't really answered what I need to know, so, I've just been sent a promotional mail regarding becoming a full Creative Cloud member which I am considering, but first I'd like to know, how will this affect the package I already have? I have my own copy of the CS5 Web Premium package. Will there be any licensing conflicts? And if I choose to drop the Creative Cloud membership at any time will this cause any problems with the programs I already have?

Which permission controls the ability to edit the Page Title?

If I have set the User permissions to allow Edit Web Pages should Users be able to edit the Page Title in the Page Details section? Or is that permission controlled by the Edit Template permission?

Muse Tooltips and hyperlinks - how do you do it?

Hi there.

I've followed the online tutorial from the Lynda.com series on using the Tooltip widget, very good and clear (even though it's a bit out of date). One thing not covered is is how do I add a hyperlink to the tooltip? In active state the hyperlink options are not available.

I've created a map that highlights countries when the mouse hovers over them and displays a name label. (This all works very well, I'm happy with that thanks Muse guys = pretty cool). However, I want the name label that appears to link to the appropriate page, but I can't make it happen. Is there a way to do it that I've not been able to find anywhere? And yes, I've done some Googling on it and checked here.

Any help would be really appreciated.

News module and mobile support

Hi. I've not been able to find a solution here or by Googling this, I hope somebody can help me here.

I'm creating separate phone and tablet versions of a site and am using BC's mobile support automatic redirection. All 3 versions of the site will be using the same news module content (I hope so anyway, this is what I want to happen). The trouble is when a news item is open from the tablet news page it loads in the Announcement templated page which has the desktop version navigation as part of the template (as you'd expect it to). Unless the user uses the "go back" link, they will be directed into the desktop pages which is obviously not what I want. Is there a way of keeping the user in the tablet/phone pages having dealt with the news item?

Muse Typekit fonts

Hello. I have a site that was created in Muse and loaded to Business Catalyst. The site uses a non web-safe font from Typekit and it was applied in Muse. You can see it here http://www.steelhaus.co.nz/

The font is not behaving so well in some browsers and I want to replace the Muse font stuff with my own @fontafce font system.

My question is, where are the Muse Typekit font files being held in BC? I can't find them anywhere. How is this working?

As it is, it works, but for design reasons I want to remove the check box and have tried the optin=true approach that has been suggested in the help and support pages and on this forum, but I'm not getting the right result; the user gets listed but doesn't get assigned to the mailing list.

Importing a list of customers - Company not listed

Hello. I've imported a contacts list using the method instructed by BC shown here, http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/kb/customer-records.html#id_9773 I created a Tab Delimited file with 5 columns :email, title, first name, last name, and company name, and it has uploaded successfully and the contacts all appear in the Customers list, but the Company name has not been included with the customer's details, it has been given a separate entry. Why is this? And am I able to make it so that all of the data gets listed together?

Firefox and IE not finding index.htm

Hello, can anybody tell me why this is happening, I've googled and searched the forum Adobe BC forum but have not found any answer.

This site has just gone live www.pattonnz.com. The problem is that Internet Explorer and Firefox are not locating the index.htm file, they are loading this file instead http://www.pattonnz.com/vr/unit-1/index.html. As you can see, this file is not in the root directory, so as far as I understand thnings, it should not be being used as the home page. In the Site Manager/Pages/List View the index.html page gets listed, but it still shows it as being in a folder 2 stepd down from the root, see attached image. Is there a settign somehwere that I need to change in order to fix this?

Web Apps - Google map

Hello.

I've just got the Google map web app working but for some reason when loading the page the map shows a blank spot in the South Atlantic Ocean rather than New Zealand, which is what it should be showing. The map has 10 locations on it, they are all working correctly. Is there a setting that tells the map to load by default somewhere?

BC webMarketing plan and web apps

I've just built a site in BC using web apps. The site was paid foryesterday, went for the webMarketing plan, and now access to the web apps have dissappeared. I thought I had the right plan as, on this page, http://www.businesscatalyst.com/pricing/monthly when hovering over the listed item "Built-In-Modules" it states that web apps are available to take your site to the next level. However, having done some further investigation into why I no longer have access I came across this page http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/kb/detailed-plan-breakdown.html and that lists them as only being available in the webCommerce plan.

This is all pretty annoying as conflicting information has been provided, and the hosting plan is going to cost double what I originally thought. Am I right in thinking I have been mislead here, or have I mis interpreted something?

Muse site uploaded to Business catalyst, where are the css files?

Hello.

I've uploaded a site created in Muse to my Business Catalyst account. I want to access the css files but in Business catalyst Admin/Site Manager there is no File Manager for the CSS files. How do I make any change? I know I can make changes in the page editor but I need the CSS files as well. Similarly, how do I replace an image, I can't find an images folder either? Do all of these changes have to be done in the Muse program itself?

Muse is new to me so thank you for any help.

How do I link to a PDF from a web app?

Hello, can anybody help me with this please.

I have a web app that is listing current vacancies (see it here http://pattonnz.businesscatalyst.com/about-situationsvacant )

As you can see the link to the PDF job description file is not right. What is the best way to link to a PDF? At present the web app is using a field type "Text (hyperlink)" to make the connection to the uploaded pdf but this obviously isn't working right (well it works, but it's a bit mangled and unnacceptable). There doesn't appear to be a field that will let me direct a link to the appropriate folder and file.

Web apps are pretty new to me so any help greatly appreciated.

image positioning in a div, vertical and central alignment

Can any body help me with this please.

I have a row of logo images displayed across a page like this example working perfectly on my test site http://thewebsitedeveloper.co.nz/thinkRedTest/pattonNz/suppliersTemplateCombined.html

On the actual Business catalyst site the same code is not accepting the verticval alignment and is positioning the image at the top of the div. Seen here http://pattonnz.businesscatalyst.com/suppliers_NZ

Can anybody tell me why this is/how to fix it? I have Googled but found no BC specific fixes.

Can an announcement link to a blog

Hello, can anybody answer this for me please?

I have a news announcement panel on the home page, I would like one of the announcements to link to a blog. I thought it would be a case of editing the url and adding the blog address BlogRetrieve.aspx?BlogID=7495. This doesn't work, I get this error caused by the ? and = I guess:

ERROR: URL is invalid or has more than 100 characters. The URL can only contain the following characters: a-z, 0-9, "_" and "-".

At present the Announcement link goes to an intermediary page which isn't ideal.

Is there a way around this?

adding a dynamic menu to a template

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong please?

I have created a menu, I want to add it to a template (this template already has a dynamic menu which I added to it by the way, in case it's important to the answer).

I have selected the Template and have it ready to edit or do whatever next to it.

I thought the next step was to select "add modules to Template" and then I would get a panel appear on th right hand side with further options to select the menu I want and then go through the insert proceedure.

But nothing happens when I click on "add modules to Template".

I already have one menu on the page, I've done it once already, but for some reason it's not working any more. Or have I just completely forgotten what the correct steps are.

Yes I have researched and googled but I keep getting answers that just tell me how to create a menu or modify a template, or something other than what I need to know.

Announcement title getting cut short - {tag_subject}

Hello, can anybody help with this please? (Yes, I have gone search through the forums and Googled).

I have an announcement with quite a long title that is getting cut a bit short. How/where do I edit the settings that control this? I'm pretty sure it's the {tag_subject} that I need to alter but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I tried some thing like this {tag_subject, 500}, it works in this case {tag_body, 100}, but it wasn't successful.

Hello, I hope somebody can help me out with this.

My client's site is hosted by and developed in Business Catalyst. They wanted changes and improvements made to the site and these were done on a new build that is now sitting ready to go in the Trial Sites section. What I would like to know is, what is the proceedure for turning off the existing site and replacing it with the new site? Is it a case of deleting the existing live (paid for) site and upgrading the new site to a paid plan? I feel that this isn't the correct thing to do.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
