Has anyone had problems with Mac-made Projector playing videos in Windows 8?

We use Director 11.5 to develop museum kiosks on a Mac. I sometimes use the cross-platform feature to create Windows projectors. The movies play fine, with all videos, on Windows 7. However, now computers are coming out of the box with Windows 8. When I try the projector (and associated files)on a new machine running Windows 8, the menus wold show up, but the videos don't load - the screen flashes a red rectangle with a diagonal X. Note: that the Quicktime H.264 files play fine on the same computer using Video or Windows Media Player. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, if you can think of a work-around
