The only caveta is that you MUST be running Apple Mac OSX 10.7.2 Lion as this will not work 100% on 10.7.1.

Some folks have run into some audio issues when using Captivate and Presenter files playing in a Connect room after upgrading to Lion.

Apple decided to stop installing popular browser add-ins such as Java and Adobe Flash with Lion.

1. http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp to install Java for Mac

2. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to install Flash for Mac

Reboot and all should be well. Google's Chrome browser automatically includes Adobe Flash but Safari and Firefox do not so this is a necessary step.

Those that are hosting Adobe Connect on Lion Mac's will be needing a new host add-in under development. Apple has fixed the bug that was affecting the current Adobe Connect Add-in. The fix is in Apple's 10.7.2 Update coming shortly. I'm using it now and all is well again.

GREAT NEWS:

Adobe Connect 8.1.2 is being rolled out throughout August for Adobe Hosted customers.

It was released yesterday for download for on-premise customers and can be downloaded from this location which includes instructions:

This technote also lists the issues fixed. This is a major effort and we recommend this update which takes minutes to do.

(It assumes and requires that you have updated your Adobe Connect Server to version 8.1.1 first)

Also important to consider:

ADOBE PRESENTER 7.07 IS A MAJOR UPGRADE AND FIXES A WHOLE LOT OF INSTALL ISSUES. PLEASE GET THE CODE HERE:

TAKE A LOOK DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PAGE AND SEE THE LINK THAT DISCUSSES CURRENT CUSTOMERS DESIRING THE UPDATE. THAT IS A COMPLETE DOWNLOAD OF PRESENTER. JUST HAVE YOUR SERIAL NUMBER HANDY.

1- ADOBE RECOMMENDS PRESENTER 7.07, ADOBE CONNECT 8.1.2, AND ADOBE CAPTIVATE 5.5 AS THE COMBINATION TRULY IS DESIGNED TO WORK GREAT TOGETHER

2. THERE IS A TRANSITION FROM ACTIONSCRIPT 2 TO ACTIONSCRIPT 3 IN THESE PRODUCTS AND THAT IS WHY WE RECOMMEND MAKING SURE YOU USE THESE VERSIONS FOR THE VERY BEST EXPERIENCE.

Customer Announcement: On-Premise integration with audio telephony providers

Thanks to customer postings on this and other forums, I've discovered an error in the Adobe Connect Install Guide for Connect 8. I'm working to get it fixed but in the meantime here is a key document you will need if trying to integrate with an audio telephony provider:

Many are not aware that after installation of the AC Server, the telephony-settings.xml file needs to be edited for the section that applies to your chosen vendor(s). There is a key account ID and password that has to be given to you by your provider that allows Adobe Connect Server to share key signals with the audio provider via the API. That developer ID and password has to be requested by you to your provider via their technical support. Keep in mind that tier one of some of these providers are not used to hearing this request when you call in because of the low numbers of customers using the on-premise version of Connect versus the majority using Hosted. Consequently, I have found that you need to be direct and forceful by asking for tier 2 or an expert that is familiar with the integration of Adobe Connect with their service.

This means our customers have a truly global hosted platform and service. It also means much faster network latency for APAC customers who used other servers in the US or Europe.
