Help on Final Step for Drag and Drop Exercise

Does anyone know the best way to create a test item where the learner has to place a check mark in the correct cells and hit submit to succeed.
I was using a drag and drop but I am lost on step three.

I am using the check marks as drag sources, square shapes located in all cells will the correct cell/box assigned as the correct drop target.

The issue is when I get to step three, how do I allow the user to drag ANY checkmark (drag target) to the correct cell/box (drop target). When I get to step 3, I have to assign each individual checkmark to ONE specific cell/box and I want the learner to be able to drag any checkmark, as long as it is dropped in a designated drop target.

If there is another way I should approach this test item instead of drag and drop, I am open to any suggestions.

Hi,

I tried searching for the answer to this question before posting but I only located an answer for Captivate 5.5. Is it possible to do partial scoring for a matching quiz slide in Captivate 8. If not, does someone know a workaround? It would also be helpful to me to know which questions slides allow partial scoring. I am posting my trainings on an intranet site and not an LMS so I don't have the capability to do partial scoring from the LMS.

Feeback Using Advance Actions in Review Mode (Quiz) Captivate 6

Hi.

Can anyone tell me how I can use Advanced Actions to give specific feedback when a user is in Review Mode reviewing wrong answers on a quiz. I was under the impression that giving feedback was an option that could easily be set up when creating the quiz but this is not the case. I do understand the review will show if an answer is Right or Wrong by displaying red and green icons but I need to give specific feedback for certain questions such as True or False Question when the user chooses True but the correct answer is false. (see below).

I have used advanced actions for show/hide but I am fairly new when it comes to using Advanced Actions and variables.

I read that certain LMS systems have the functionallity to give feedback but I am not using an LSM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quiz Review Area will not display correct answer in Captivate 6

Hi.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have a true/false question. If the user gets the question wrong, I want the correct answer to show in the review area when they click on Review Quiz at the end of the quiz. I have Lynda.com and two books, E-learning Uncovered Captivate 6 and Mastering Adobe Captive 6 and still can not get the correct answer to show.

I beleive I am suppose to insert the correct answer by clicking on the Review Area and typing the correct answer in the Question Review Messages dialog box-Last box where it states, "the correct answer is". Is this incorrect?

Captivate 6 is Crashing when inserting click boxes and other issues

Desperately need help because I have never seen anything like this. I use Captivate 6 in the workplace and have not run into an issue like this in the 9 years I have used Captivate.

Captivate will not open any new projects (800 x 600 or 640 x 480 etc.) Nothing happens. When I open 1024 x 768 (the project size I have been using for the last year), a new project will open but when I try to add a click box, I get an error message "A fatal error has occurred and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate tried to save all your work int he respective project folders as "cpbackup" files. Please restart Captivate. This has only been happening for a week.

When a coworker or IT employee signs onto my computer under their profile, Captivate works fine for them. I went to another co-workers desk who has Captivate and when I sign on her computer under my profile, I have the same problem so we figured my work profile was corrupt. IT set up a new profile 2 separate times, I have uninstalled and re-installed 3 or 4 time and nothing works. We are on a network but Captivate is installed on my C:Drive and I save all my files on the C:Drive.

The odd thing is if can open up files I have worked on this past year (even up to 2 weeks ago), they are fine and I can insert click boxes without any problems. It just happens when I try to create a new file.

We have Adobe volume licenses at work so I can not call and get support and none of us can figure this out. I would be really grateful for some help!!

Can an advanced action open an image in a seperate window?

I am wondering if this is possible.

I am using an advanced action to Show/Hide an image. I would like the image to open in its own window so the user can move it to compare the pop-up image with the other image and instructions on my slide. (I have a TOC so I have limited space on the slide.) I think the advanced action might be Execute JavaScript because that choice gives me the option to open in new window. I am not savvy with writing JavaScript so any help would be great.

Start Quiz button using clean blue theme has a black ugly background instead of transparent

I added a start quiz button using the clean blue theme and it shows an ugly black background when previewed or published. I even tried using a smart shape and it does the same thing. Any thoughts?

Fade in Fade out not working on Rollover Image for Captivate 6

I am totally baffled with this issue. When I use Fade in 0.5 sec and Fade Out 0.5 seconds on a rollover image, it will not work. I even changed the default on my preferences for rollover images and it still will not work and does not show in my accordian panel in properties.

If I use Captivate 5, I do not have any problem. Any suggestions?

Spacing between bullets

Hi:

Is there a way to put additonal space between bullets in a bulleted list? If my bullets are one line, it is not a problem increasing the line spacing but if the bulleted text is more than one line, the spacing is also added to the text and not just the space between the bullets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Audio play button or widget within the slide

Hi.

I would like to add an audio file that is not extremely large to a button or widget that the end user can click on when they want to play the audio or stop the audio. Does anyone know how I can do this? I have added the audio to an object but the audio will just play when it appears and there is no way to start or stop it. I thought about putting in a slidelet but was not sure if this is the best way to add this functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adding buttons to interactions (widget) in Captivate 6

Is it possible to add more buttons to an accordian interaction (widget). I have 6 catagories. The widget has 4 buttons but when I click to add another button, it only lets me add one more. Is there anyway to add more?

pixelated edges when using image buttons

Warning Pop Up Box for a Radio button

Hi:

I have 4 Radio Buttons on a form. I want a warning popup box to appear with a "Caution Message" when one of the 4 boxes is checked. Does anyone know the java script for this action? I recently learned how to do a validation on a text entry but I see the radio button only has a tab to add a javascript action.

Interactive Popup Questions when entering data

I created an interactive document for work where the processor has to enter a dollar amount in a text field. Is there a way to create the form so when the processor enters the amount, a question pops up to ask "Are you sure this is the correct amount? I am trying to find a way to have the user have to confirm the amount. I really apprecate your help if you have any suggestions.

Bookmark panel will not open when I publish to our company intranet

Hi.

I created a pdf with bookmarks and set the pdf to properties to "open bookmark panel and page. The document works fine if I email it to someone but if I publish it to the web (our intranet), the bookmark panel will not appear. This happens to other co-workers when they launch the pdf from the web. We all have acrobat reader 9 and I checked the settings and they seem to be fine.

Also, I recently was updated to office 2010 and used word to create my documents. I understand there is a bit of a problem with Acrobat 9 and Word 2010 but I am not sure if this is what is causing my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Date in form take a long time to auto populate.

I created a form and want the date to auto-populate. I used the javascript below and it works but the form will open up each day with yesterdays date and then take a few minutes to populate the new date. Is there a way to make the date populate faster.

I can't get the bookmark panel to open in a pdf once published to our intranet

Hi.

I set a pdf file to open with bookmarks and page showing. When I upload it to a web site on our intranet, it will open on some computers but not all the time. It is really frustrating and I need to find a solution. Any suggestion? Is there another way to make sure the bookmark panel opens, even though I have set the Initial View to Bookmarks and Page?

Problem having a group of radio buttons deselect when I choose a different button

I am hoping to get some help on having two radio buttons deselect when I choose another radio button. It is a bit convoluted to explain so I have made an example below. Pay Now and Pay Later are radio buttons with the same group name (Choices). Pay by Credit Card and Pay by Check are another set of radio buttons with the same group name (Options).

What I need to happen is if you click Pay Later after accidently clicking the Pay Now and Pay by Credit Card options, The Pay Now will deselect but the Pay by Credit Card or Pay by Check will not deselect.

I beleive I need to use some java code along with possibly setting values to certain buttons but I am totally not sure how to do this. Please see the example below if what I typed does not make sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Preloader still a problem with Captivate 5 and 5.5

Ok. This is getting really annoying. I downloaded a patch for Captivate 5 to fix my preloader problem. Now my co-worker has Captivate 5.5 and we are still having the same problem. I am tired of having to go back to Captivate 4 everytime I have a project that needs a preloader. Does anyone have a solution. It says to use A3 for preloader in 5 or 5.5. It does not matter if I use A2 or A3. Nothing Works!

Preloader problem

I created a file with a Table of Contents. There is a title page and then 6 other pages with audio. The only content on the slide other than the audio is a caption box. When the user clicks on the on the one of the 6 table of contents selections, the audio file plays.

My problem is when the .swf file opens (I have a link on my intranet website that links to the .htm file which opens the .swf in a seperate browser window) but only the TOC will show. Then after 10 to 15 seconds, the title slide will finally appear. I have the preloader set but it does not show when the file launches. I am afraid my end-users won't know to wait for the title slide to appear.

I have made 30 or more tutorials this way (without audio) and I never had this problem. I have checked the TOC settings and the publishing settings and I can't seem to see anything wrong. The .swf file is 10,345 KB which is a bit bigger than my tutorials without audio. Everything would be fine if the preloader would work. Any ideas?

Fit to Stage is grayed out

Hi.

When I insert a picture in Captivate 5 and I try to click on Fit to Stage in the properties inspector, it is grayed out. Any suggestions? I know I can move it myself but I am taking a tutorial that is showing me to click on Fit to Stage so I am just curious to know why mine is grayed out.

Transparent Button Link to URL not working when I publish

I am using mulitple tranparent buttons (over text) as a link to open a URL file in a seperate window on our company intranet. I created this file 6 months ago and it always works fine. Today, I needed to update the file and add another transparent button to link to a new url. When I preview the file, everything works fine and a browser window will open showing the correct web page but when I publish the file, nothing happens. None of the links work.

I have updated this file in the past and I have never had a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions. This should be a two minute update for me but has turned into a big problem.

TOC with published tutorial will clear when closed out

Hi.

I was wondering if there is a way to have a published tutorial with a toc start from the beginning after it has been closed and then reopened. I would prefer this instead of the tutorial starting where the user left off. I also noticed every once in a while a user will get a message asking them if they want to start the tutorial where they left off but the only option is "yes" or "cancel" so whichever one the user chooses, it still starts them where they left off. If I hit the clear button on the bottom of the TOC, it will clear my status check marks but will not start the tutorial automatically from the beginning.

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Graphics in Captivate are blurry when I export to a pdf file.

I am hoping someone can help me. I use Adobe Fireworks to make my graphics for my Captivate tutorials. My graphics include text since I am recreating screens used to input information for one of our systems. When I publish to a PDF, the graphics appear blurry. (I need to have a Captivate tutorial and a print version in PDF on our intranet) Is there a way I can fix this problem? I also tried placing my graphics straight from the folder into a PDF instead of publishing through Captivate and I still have the problem. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Spry Accordian Panel

Hi.

Does anyone know the coding to make all the panels in my Spry Accordian widget closed when the user visits my page. I five panels and the first panel is open when the user views my page. The default can be changed in the properties inspector when you use the Collapsible Panel widget but I beleive the coding in the javascript file needs to be tweaked to make the default be closed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Designing Dynamic FAQ Pages for website

I created an FAQ page for a website at work using the Spry Collapsible Panels. Everything is working great but I would like to put in the + and - sign to show when a panel is opened or closed. This design is on the Adobe FAQ pages. Can anyone explain how you do this function? Is a graphic used and then coded in the Javascript? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Page Properties

I have never had a problem setting up page properties. I apply a font, size, background and text color and when I hit apply, nothing happens. It shows correctly when I preview in browser but not in Dreamweaver. This is not the case on my other computer. Could something not be set right on my work computer?

Highlight Boxes

I am having a problem with highlight boxes when I check FILL OUTER AREA. The problem only shows when I publish the movie. It does not show when I preview before I publish.

The problem:
On some of my slides for my training movies (I have 4 on the website), I get a very thin line across my slide and it appears at the bottom border of my highlight box. I have no idea why it only appears on some of the slides. If I take off FILL OUTER AREA, there is no line across my slide. These are training tutorials for a project at work and I need to use the fill outer area function. Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shorter Typing Time

Does anyone know how to make the typing speed faster when you are typing text on a screen in Captivate. I have done the past. I use to be able to go to the timeline and drag the typing bar to make the text speed up. For some reason, it will not let me do this function. Thanks for your help.

PDF file will not open

I am hoping someone can help me. From the menu on my homepage, I have inserted a link to a PDF file that is in a file on my site. When I "preview in browser", then click on the link, instead of the pdf file opening, I get a message stating "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". I am not sure why I can not get the pdf file to open up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Browser Display Problem

I designed a webpage on my work computer. The webpage displays perfectly on my monitor which is 17 inch screen. When I display the page on my laptop, I have a lot of blank space on the right side of my page and my laptop screen is only 14.5 inch screen. Is there some setting I am missing that is not making my site look the same on each monitor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
