Auto naming logic for ID graphic objects

Can anyone tell me what logic is used for the naming of JPG/PNG images that are generated for InDesign-drawn boxes, line, ovals, groups, etc?

In other words, if you draw a circle in InDesign, anchor this to the text, output as reflowable EPUB, unzip the EPUB, and look in the oebps\image folder, you'll see an image named something like 2022.jpg. I'm trying to determine the logic behind this naming, as I need to reuse these images for something else.

Domain already exists error

I'm moving an existing web site to BC. I've upgraded to a paid site, and went to the Network Solutions Web site and changed the DNS server addresses to ns1.worldsecuresystems.com, ns2, and ns3.

Next, I went to the Admin console and went to site settings > Side Domains, and clicked on the "new domain" button, and put in my domain name (gilbertconsulting.com) and filled in the rest of the info, including the "use this service to host your website requireing you to redelegate the domain".

But when I click the "save" button, I get the error "Domain already exists. Please delete all records associated with this domain before re-adding it". I'm stumped. What should I do next?

Text labels missing under Library and Viewer icons in V31

I just built a multi-folio app with DPS Pro Edition. I specified V31. When I preview the resulting Developer app on my iPad, the text under the small "Library" and "Viewer" icons at the bottom of the screen is missing. The Library and Viewer icons are there, but the space below the icon where the words "Library" and "Viewer" should appear is missing.

I didn't select "Use Customized Strings" or anything like that when I built the app in DPS App Builder. Any ideas?

ERROR ITMS-9000 "The bundle uses a bundle name or display name..." when uploading to iTunesConnect

I'm receiving the error "ERROR ITMS-9000 "The bundle uses a bundle name or display name associated with an Apple app." when uploading to iTunesConnect.

Version 1.0 or our app is currently on the App store, an I'm trying to upload a version 1.1.

I'm trying to change the name of the app from "Augsburg Now" to "Augsburg Gallery".

I changed the name in the App ID on developer.apple.com to "Augsburg Gallery, but left the ID as edu.augsburg.augsburgnow

I generated new Development and Distribution provisioning profiles, since the App ID name had changed.

In DPS App Builder, I changed the App name to "Gallery", and the Title (library view) in DPS App Builder to "Augsburg Gallery", and then created a new binary.

I changed the App Name in iTunes connect to "Augsburg Gallery"

I don't see the problem, since I left the bundle id, app id, etc. all unchanged.

Any ideas?

Beware of punctuation in Folio Numbers

We published a new folio today into an existing app that contains 4 other folios. But for some reason, in this new folio, social sharing no longer worked. DPS wasn't generating a long URL such as "http://contentviewer.adobe.com/application name/accountID/folio name/article name". Instead it just generated the "redirect URL" specified in Account Administration.

Well, it turns out that we had changed our numbering system for Folios. So in the Folio Number column in Folio Producer: Organizer, we entered "Vol. 2, No. 1" for the Folio Number. As soon as I went back and changed the Folio Number to "Volume 2 Number 1" (no commas or periods), and updated the folio, social sharing began working with the proper url.

So, FYI, it appears that either commas or periods in the Folio Number cause problems with social sharing. Beware.

Error when uploading "The bundle identifier cannot be changed from the previous version"

I have an app on the App Store created with DPS, Single Edition a long time ago, shortly after DPS SE became available. Now I've updated the app, built a new version with DPS App Builder, created a new version of the app in iTunes Connect, and tried to upload the Distribution zip file using application loader. I'm getting 2 error messages:

"This bundle is invalid. The bundle identifier cannot be changed from the previous version. If you want to change your bundle identifier, you will need to create a new application in iTunes Connect..."

and

"This app contains an embedded provisioning profile that is not associated with your account. Please use a provisioning profile associated with Team ID ..."

I've done this several times before with other apps, and never got these errors before. Any ideas of what is going on?

I'm able to view the developer ipa file just fine on my iPad.

Including product dimensions in product template

I've entered the Product Width and Product Height in the "Product Dimensions" section of the e-commerce product listing. I want to include this information alongside the product description in the "Individual Product-Large" module template. I see that there is no tag for including this, and that I must put this information in the Custom 1, Custom 2, etc. fields and use the Custom1, Custom2, etc. tags.

Is the only way to copy the stuff I've entered into the Product Width and Product Height fields into the Custom 1 and Custom 2 fields to export the product list, manipulate it in Excel, and then import it back into BC? If so, what do I need to watch for to make sure I don't screw anything up? I've entered hundreds of products and don't want to mess up my BC product database.

[JS CS3] Moving the insertion point to the next table cell

I can't quite get my head around this one...

Assuming that all the text in a table cell is selected, I want to move the selection to the next cell below the current cell, and select the text in that cell. I need to script this simple maneuver so I can assign a keyboard shortcut to it.

In other words, the script should programmatically do the same thing as [down arrow][esc][esc] does in a table.

I've been trying InsertionPoint.move, but can't quite figure out how to do this within a table framework.

Any ideas/pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

The more I get involved with helping people develop iPhone DPS apps, I wish for 2 capabilities in DPS:

1. It would be really nice to be able to arrange the articles vertically. We have the option now with the "horizontal swipe only" option to arrange the pages of an article horizontally. But I want the pages of each article to remain with a vertical swipe, but place each article below the other so you can just swipe vertically through the entire app. This would simplify navigation for apps where a horizontal and vertical navigation experience is too complex.

2. The ability to disable page-to-page and article-to-article swiping entirely. I have a customer with an app in development where they are providing the entire navigation system with buttons, so they really don't want the user to accidentally swipe from screen to screen. It would be nice if articles and folios could still be created just as they are now, but have an option in App Builder to disable swiping. We probably would want to also disable the browse button in this scenario also, but the rest of the ui could remain as-is.

I thought I'd throw this out there. I would find it really useful.

Create a button to go to library view?

Is there any way to create a button or link that returns the user to the Library view in a multi-folio app, using Professional Edition? In other words, a button/link that provides the same function as the "home" or "house" icon in the upper left corner of the DPS UI?

[IDCS6 JS] Cannot delete rectangle from a button

I'm creating a button with:

var myRevealButton = myPage.buttons.add();

This creates an "empty" button consisting of a small rectangle.

Then I add some artwork (a group of InDesign objects) to the first state:

myRevealButton.states[0].addItemsToState(myRevealButtonArt);

But when I try to remove the small rectangle automatically created by myPage.buttons.add(), I'm unable to do so (Object is invalid).

myRevealButton.states[0].rectangles[0].remove();

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? The rectangle shows up clearly in the Layers panel, and is visible on-screen, and I can delete it normally, but not via scripting.

On closer inspection,

myRevealButton.states[0].rectangles.length = 0?

Any ideas?

Product ID for Free Folios

We have a free app with a free subscription all set up and working properly, with one issue published so far. We are ready to publish the second issue. The app itself has a Product ID, and our Free Subscription in-app purchase as a different Product ID. I used the same Product ID for the first folio as the Free Subscription Product ID.

But today I read at http://adobe.ly/SsvLPN to "Note: Use different Product IDs for each separate folio in your app."

So, should I use a different Product ID from now on for each Folio we publish?

Where to collect sales tax?

I'm setting up a new BC site, have the shopping cart, shipping, and payment gateways all configured. Now I'm trying to figure out the tax stuff. We will be selling physical products into all 50 states, so we need to collect sales tax for each state. I see the ECommerce : Tax Codes section, and have added all the US States. But how do I get this to calculate for my products?

I see that I can add a single state tax code to a single product, but I need each of our 56 products to be available in all 50 states, all of which have a different rate.

Second question: Where does the sales tax calculation show up, once it is working? In the shopping card, on the Checkout page, or where?

Video not stopping on last frame when splash screen appears

I'm encountering what looks like a subtle bug in v20. I have a single-issue app. The opening screen in a 7 second video. I have an MSO underneath the video that is set to auto-play, interval of 2 seconds, play 1 time, stop at last image. The first state of the mso is a black screen (to match the start of the video), and the second state of the mso matches the last frame of the video.

I've done this same technique numerous times before, and it has worked well. It's working perfect here when I preview the app in the Content Viewer. But when I built the app and view the developer app on my iPad, something funny happens:

The first time you run the app, the splash screen appears of course while the app loads into memory. Then the opening video plays, but when the video ends, a black screen is displayed (presumably the first state of the MSO). Each time you return to the video, the same thing happens.

But, if I swipe to the third screen, quit the app, and then go back into the app, from then on the opening video and mso works perfectly. Until I double-tap the home button, remove the app from memory, and run it fresh again, then the splash screen appears and then I can repeat the problem again.

This smells like a bug to me. Any ideas for workarounds that anyone can think of?

"jerky" vertical swiping with build 22 and PDF format

We have a magazine that will be published with Single Edition. It worked fine when rendered with "automatic" format. But when rendered in PDF format, there is a very distinct "stutter" when swiping vertically in most of the articles that are over a couple screens long. Only when swiping to move down in the article. Going back up and side to side works fine. This is only a problem when viewed with v22 of the viewer. When using v21 of the viewer, it works fine.

Does anyone know if this is a "known" issue with v22? If I create build the final app with viewer 21 will I be fine?

Video set to stop on last frame appears lighter than last frame

I've got a video set to "stop on the last frame" using the technique described here:

Works great. But whenever I do this, there is a slight darkening when the multi-state object appears at the end. To create the image for the multi-state objects, I opened the video in Photoshop, grabbed the last frame, and saved it as a JPEG.

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried saving the end image as a PNG, lots of other workarounds, but the problem persists. I've noticed this in other publications I've downloaded also, so I think the problem is widespread.

Problem with cataloguebreadcrumbs dividers

I've got the (tag_cataloguebreadcrumbs} on my Overall Layout Module Template. It is working fine, except that it is putting a ":" (colon) delimiter AFTER each catalog name.

For example, here is what the breadcrumb looks like as I drill down into catalogs:

ARTWORK

ARTWORK PRINTS :

ARTWORK PRINTS FOUNDATION ::

But it should look like this:

ARTWORK

ARTWORK : PRINTS

ARTWORK : PRINTS : FOUNDATION

I can't figure out where this is controlled, or if I have access to it. Any ideas?

Simple JS works in Acrobat 7, but not 8 - why?

I have a simple form with 2 fields: "myname" and "phone". "myname" is a drop down list populated with 3 names. I want to be able to populate the "phone" field with a phone number corresponding to the "myname" field automatically.

I have the following JS attached to the calculate event of the myname field. This works perfect in Acrobat 7.0.9, but does not work at all in Acrobat 8.0 professional or Adobe Reader 8. Does anyone know why?

LiveCycle Designer 8.05.

I am trying to reset the data in a subform. It is working great in certain subforms in my form. However, some of the code is as follows:

if (form1.P1.docSF.new_revision.rawValue == "0") {

With this code, I receive an error (in the Warnings panel) that says "$host does not have a method 'resetDataPermsCheck'", yet the subform fields still reset properly. If I move the "xfa.host.resetData..." line out of the "else" section into the "if" section, the error message goes away.

Any idea what might be going on?

[JS CS5] difference between CS3 and 5 with paragraph.contents?

This is making me crazy. I'm updating some scripts that ran fine in CS3 so that they function in CS5. I've run into an odd (to me) behavior.

After running the following in CS4:

var myParagraph = myStory.paragraphs.item(myParagraphCounter);

myParagraph.contents = "<LI>"+myParagraph.contents

myParagraph.contents returns "<LI> the text of the original paragraph"

But after running the same lines in CS5:

myParagraph.contents returns only "the text of the original paragraph"

What's going on here? This seems like a real basic thing...I think I'm missing something obvious.

[JS CS5.5] How to get the constructor name of an oval?

I have a mix of rectangles and ovals on the page. The rectangles of course return the constructor.name of "Rectangle". Ovals that were drawn with the Ellipse tool return the constructor.name of "Oval". But a rectangle that has been converted to an oval via Object > Convert Shape still returns the constructor.name "Rectangle". Is there any way around this?

What I need to do is output the vertices of all the rectangles and polygons on the page (which I have working now), and also some sort of meaningful representation of the ovals, such as center point and diameter. I see 2 problems:

1. I can't tell an oval from a rectangle because of what I describe in my first paragraph above

2. Once I determine it is an oval, it appears the only data I can get from it is paths[0].entirePath. I'm sure there is a way to matematically reduce this path data to a simple center point/diameter combination, but it looks tricky. Has anyone done this, or is there another way?

[JS CS5.5] Index topic sort order messes up script

I'm stumped on this one. If anyone has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it!

The script below iterates through my index, and works just fine if none of the index entries have "Sort By" text that causes the entry to move DOWN in the list alphabetically. It works fine if the "Sort By" text causes the index entry to move UP in the list alphabetically.

So it appears to me that since the script is iterating through the page references and the index entries from the bottom up, it gets to a topic that is displayed lower the in list, but it actually "belongs" up higher in the list alphabetically, then the script can't get match the page reference to the source text.

Is there any way to interate through index entries other than what I'm doing? I can't think of any other workarounds.

[CS5 JS] Closing a dialog box with a script

I've got a little project that uses a 3rd party plug-in to InDesign CS5 Mac, and the plug-in isn't scriptable. I've written a little script that, after it does a bunch of processing, runs the following:

This snippet opens the "Create Job.." dialog box of the plug-in. Now I just need to be able to close the dialog, which would be done with the keyboard by hitting OK, because the "Create" button that starts the process and closes the dialog is the default button, so hitting return activates it.

Is there any way to pass a return via scripting so I can get this box to close automatically?

Splash screen behavior

I'm unclear on the behavior of the "splash" screen in a custom viewer. I understand that for a single issue app, the splash screen image appears every time that you run the app, regardless of where you left off reading the app last.

But for multi-issue apps, te splash screen seems to "come and go". I've noticed that it appears the first time that you run the app, and then once in a blue moon after that. But it doesn't appear each time you actually read an issue within the app.

Can anyone tell me what the behavior of the splash screen is supposed to be for a multi-issue app?

What I really want is the ability to have a splash screen image that ALWAYS appears when you enter any issue in a multi issue app. In other words, I want the reader to see our corporate branding every time they read or re-read each issue of a multi-issue app.

Second question: is it on the future roadmap to allow animation or video in this "splash" screen image?

Video activated by a button

I know how to work with video in DPS. But this time I'd like to have this: I have a screen consisting of a large photo with a small margin below. In this margin area is a button. When a user taps the button, I want a small 300pixel or so video to appear over the static photo and begin playing. When the video ends, I want the video to disappear. Is there any way to do this in ID, or does this require an HTML overlay?

How to change the owner of a folio

I've created a folio using the latest version of DPS. My client, who has purchased the Professional version of DPS, is going to distribute the app as an "in-house" iPad viewer app (they're an Apple Enterprise Developer).

I've shared the folio with several people at the client company via Acrobat.com and that works well.

Now we need to create the final app. When the client logs into the Folio Producer with their Adobe ID, they can see the Folio, but when they try to click the Publish button, an alert appears that says "Only an owner of a folio can publish to the distribution server".

How can I change the owner of the folio from myself to the client?

Trouble with Folio Builder today

I'm having all kinds of trouble with Folio Builder today. It's acting as if the Acrobat.com server is slow or overloaded. I'm not able to use the Import Multiple Articles command...it imports 1-3 articles real slow, and then hangs. I've tried deleting the folio and starting over. I just tried making a new folio and in Properties tried to upload a Horizontal Cover Preview, and that is hanging, never finishing the upload. Is there any report of server trouble today?

[JS CS5] Accessing an inline frame from an insertion point

Given an insertion point, how can I determine if it contains an inline/anchored frame? And if so, how do I reference the inline/anchored frame?

I know how to reference the surrounding paragraph, characters, etc., but can't figure out how to get to the inline/anchored graphic.

I normally would just loop through all the inline graphics in the document, but it this case I need to access the inlines via their insertion points.

[JS CS5] Trouble with user interaction when exporting to Interactive PDF

I'm exporting to PDF with:

app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.INTERACT_WITH_ALL;

app.activeDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.INTERACTIVE_PDF, new File(myDocBaseName+".pdf"));

If I export to Interactive PDF manually, but choosing File > Export and selecting Adobe PDF (Interactive), I get an overset text warning dialog, and then a missing font warning dialog, and then a transparency blend space warning dialog, and then a progress dialog. But when I run the script, it just quietly exports the PDF with no dialogs at all.

What am I missing? I'm not getting any interaction!

[JS CS3] Find paragraphs that contain a single Style override

Given a document with consistently applied paragraph styles. I need to locate all the paragraphs in the document that contain a paragraph style override of the left indent. All other style overrides can be ignored.

I see in the DOM how to clear overrides, but is there any way to locate paragraphs that have a specific override?

I suspect there is no way to do this, but thought I'd throw this out there.

[JS CS5] UserInteractionLevels not working with placeXML

I've included "app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.interactWithAll" at the beginning of my script, because I WANT the script to stop whenever a dialog or alert is shown.

But it doesn't work when I use the "myDoc.xmlElements.item(0).xmlElements.item(0).placeXML(myFrame)" command to place imported XML content into a frame. The XML file references a bunch of graphic images, and those images are missing. If I place the XML by hand (without the script) into the frame, I get a dialog box asking me for the location of each missing graphic. But when the XML is placed by the script, it just quietly races ahead and ignores the missing graphics.

I see in the object model there is also an "importExportEvent.userInteractionLevel", but I can't make heads or tails of this.

Any ideas?

[JS CS5] Resizing graphics after importing XML, but before placing on page

I've been looking for an answer for this for a long time, and judging by the other posts here, many others are also.

Given an XML file consisting of:

<root>

I can import this into a layout, and drag the products element to a text frame. All the images appear inline, and then I run a script that uses XML Rules to locate the images, resize the image frames, and apply an object style. The trouble is, that once in a while the images references by the XML are so enormous that they simply exceed the bounds of the pasteboard, and things blow up.

So what I want to do instead, is to somehow resize the images to a manageable size BEFORE I drag the products element into a text frame.

In that post, he says that "If you're using CS4, can use the resize method to resize graphics that have not yet been placed in a layout." I've been trying to implement his "rough" script, and I can't work it out.

This is what I have:

[JS CS5] How to get the selected state of a multi-state object

Does anyone know if there is a way to identify which state of a multi-state object is selected?

You can select individual states of a multi-state object in the States panel.

In the Object Model,

myState = app.selection[0].states.item(0);

myState.active = true;

...displays the first state in the mso. But I can't figure out how to identify which state is currently visible. This doesn't seem to be possible in the object model, unless I'm missing something. Any ideas?

I'm trying to export XML from InDesign layouts, doing the script equivalent of checking the "Remap Break, Whitespace, and Special Characters" option in the Export XML dialog box.

I've found the "characterReferences" property of XMLExportPreference, which according to the OMV says that "If true, replaces special characters with character references". However, regardless of whether I set this to true or false, I get the same results.

The only way I can seem get this to work is to do a "dummy" export to XML first, and check (or uncheck, depending on my needs) the "Remap Break, Whitespace, and Special Characters" option, and then run my XML Export script, which sorta defeats the purpose!

Does anyone know if XMLExportPreference.characterReferences functions properly?

[JS CS3] How to determine if a table is threaded

I'm trying to figure out how to determine if a selected table flows from one threaded text frame to the next.

Given a table "myTable", I know that myTable.parent is a textFrame.

I know that myTable.parent.nextTextFrame and myTable.parent.previousTextFrame will give me the next/previous linked text frames, but how can I determine if the table flows into the next frame or not?

[JS CS4] How to unanchor all anchored graphics

I need to "unanchor" all the anchored graphics in a document. The document will consist of many individual text frames, each with an anchored graphic frame within it. I'm having trouble figuring out how to get at the anchored graphics. All the examples I've found seem to show how to create an anchored graphic or how to get at an anchored textFrame.

I've been messing around with:

myDoc.stories.everyItem().rectangles.everyItem()

and I see:

anchoredObjectSettings.releaseAnchoredObject()

in the object model, but I can't seem to put it together. Any ideas?

[JS CS3] Trouble with changeGrep() array

This is strange, or else I'm totally missing something simple:

My script does a GREP search for a text string in a table, and assigns a paragraph style to the string. Next, for each string that was found, I want to merge the cell that contains the string with the two cells directly to the right of the cell. The line

var myFound = mySelection.changeGrep();

does the changing of the text string.

I understand that changeGrep() returns an array, in this case, of insertion points. When I run the script on a table that contains 5 instances of the string that the Grep search is looking for, myFound returns an array of 5 insertion points like I'd expect. Except that if I pause the script and examine the contents of the array, this is what I get:

myFound[0].parent.contents displays the correct (first) text string that was changed

myFound[1].parent.contents isn't correct. It displays the contents of the cell directly to the left of he text string that was changed.

myFound[2] through myFound[4] are also incorrect.

Again, this is examining the array before I do anything to the table such as merging cells, etc.

So, why doesn't the array return the correct insertion points?

I can't work out how to apply the character style [None] to text. I've tried

myStory.paragraphs.item(0).appliedCharacterStyle = "[None]"

but this doesn't work. I can apply any of my named Character Styles this way, but not no Character Style. Does anyone know the syntax for this? Thanks.

I understand that I can add text to a text frame with:

myTextFrame.contents = "this is text"

which works as long as myTextFrame is indeed a textFrame.

However, now I have a rectangle, for which I have converted the content type to Text, via:

myGraphicFrame.contentType = ContentType.TEXT_TYPE

So why can't I now add text to the frame with:

myGraphicFrame.contents = "this is text"

?

My script does a simple GREP find/change:

app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "grepstringtofind";
app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo = "";
myDoc.changeGrep();

Is there any way to have the script display the "Search is completed. 121 replacement(s) made." dialog box that appears when "Change All" is clicked in the GREP find/change UI? Or alternatively, to somehow programmatically count how many changes were made?

I'm stuck on trying to figure out how to reference a font name in a paragraph style if the font is missing. I've got: for (myCounter=0; myCounter<app.documents.item(0).paragraphStyles.length; myCounter ++) { myParagraphStyle=app.documents.item(0).paragraphStyles.item(myCounter); if (myParagraphStyle.name.indexOf("[")!=0){ if (myParagraphStyle.appliedFont.name == myFindFontName){ myParagraphStyle.appliedFont = app.fonts.item(myChangeFontName); }}} The "myParagraphStyle.appliedFont.name" reference works properly as long as the font used in the paragraph style is present on the system. If the font is missing, then InDesign doesn't seem to "know" its name for me to reference in this manner. Does anyone know a way to do this? Thanks.

Does anyone know the syntax to script the View > Show Text Threads command in CS3? It seems that it should be something like:

app.activeDocument.viewPreferences.showTextThreads

...but that isn't in the DOM. I can't seem to locate it. Can this be done?

[JS CS3] JS method for Object Styles > Break Link to Style

I have pages full of objects that are assigned the pesky "Basic Graphics Frame" object style. I need to do the equivalent of choosing "Break Link to Style" in the Object Styles panel on all the objects in many files.

I haven't been able to find anything equivalent to the "Break Link to Style" functionality in looking through the Object Browser. Finding all objects with [Basic Graphics Frame] object style and applying an object style of [None] doesn't do the same result. Any ideas?

The "ScriptLabel.jsx" tutorial script has this code fragment:

var myPageItems = myPage.pageItems.item("myScriptLabel");

The script works fine as long as the page contains at least one pageItem with the label "myScriptLabel". However, if there are no labeled pageItems, the script fails because myPageItems.getElements().length is invalid.

I can't figure out how to test for the condition of no pageItems having the label "myScriptLabel" to avoid this error. What am I missing?

[JS CS3] Setting the default layer

I've been through the ID JS DOM, and I can't seem to find a reference for this...I think I'm missing something basic here.

I've created two new layers via JavaScript:

myDoc.layers.add ({name: 'manufacturers index', layerColor: UIColors.green});
myDoc.layers.add ({name: 'product index', layerColor: UIColors.red});

After running the script, the document is left in a state where "product index" is the target layer, and any new objects that are created are created on that layer.

I want the script to leave the document in a state where the original "Layer 1" in the file is the target layer. How do I do this via JavaScript?

I'm trying to find all occurances of the [Basic Paragraph] style and replace them with [No Paragraph Style]. I'm using:

app.findTextPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = "[Basic Paragraph Style]";
app.changeTextPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = "[No Paragraph Style]";

I get the message "Invalid value for set property 'appliedParagraphStyle'. Expected String, ParagraphStyle or NothingEnum enumerator, but received "[Basic Paragraph Style]"."

I've tried every combination of brackets, no brackets, quotes, no quotes, etc. It doesn't seem like this can be scripted, even though it can be done via find/change in InDesign. Am I banging my head against the wall? Does anyone know if this can be done?

[JS CS3] Moving pages from one doc to another

I'm having trouble understanding the pages.move method, when used to move pages from one file to another. With one ID file open, I want to create another file, and then move pages from the first file to the second. At this point, the new, second file is untitled. Must I save it first? Here is what I have so far...

I'm having trouble working this out...

I'm trying to create a script that will assume 1 document is open when the script is run. It will then create a new document, and load the master pages from the first document into the new document. I can't figure out how to reference the original document once the new document has been created. Here is what I have so far...

var oldDocument = app.activeDocument;
// Create a new document with the correct page size, etc.
var newDocument = app.documents.add();
newDocument.documentPreferences.pageWidth = 7.625;
newDocument.documentPreferences.pageHeight = 10;
// Load masters from old document

The last line is not correct, obviously. How do I reference the first document while working on the second? Thx.
