What´s the easiest way to create this type of timeline?

I´m certain this is done in Edge. Can someone explain how the timeline is created so that everything scrolls backwards and forwards, regardless of where on the timeline you click?

Any help would be much appreciated

Preloader keeps running, nothing happens

What am I doing wrgong when an Edge project with a preloader won´t start unless I reload the page 2-3 times? The preloader just keeps on running and the animation won´t start by itself.

Animation plays OK on desktop but is a mess on Ipad

I have an Edge animation that plays as it should (almost) on desktop, but when viewed on my Ipad it´s just chaos with a triggered pauses that doesn´t work and objects being placed half outside the artboard.

What´s going on? I guess someone else must have experienced the same type of problems.

How do I inser an onject into a moving symbol?

I have a symbol, a grey circle, that moves from left to right and rotates at the same time. I want to insert an object, let´s say a simple rectangle that´s not animated, into the symbol, so that the rectangle get´s all the same animation properties as the circle and will move and rotate just like the circle.

Is this possible?

Some people here, myself included, are somewhat annoyed over bugs etc in Edge. That´s fair considering we´re paying for a product which I believe not all of us knew was "not fully ready".

With that said, I wouldn´t have gotten anywhere without the help from the staff here, and I want to say that I appreciate the help alot. So thank you.

Movie frame turns black

This happens quite often for me. It seems to happen if a movie is set to autoplay and you drag the timeline. The frame just goes black and I can´t make it show correct again without quitting and loading. Usually it keeps happening even after loading.

How do I make the in-symbol artboard not shaded?

When I go inside a symbol the artboard goes kind of grey. Not very usefull since I can´t see as clear. Is there a way to make the symbol artboard look like the stage?

Why is play/pause in video never exact?

I have a video and a play button in my project.

The play button is set to play the video and the timeline, with triggers on the timeline telling the video and timeline to toggle play/pause at certain places. No autoplay on timeline or video.

The video plays and pauses as it should, but no preview is exactly the same. Sometimes the video pauses half a second before or after the set trigger. Is Edge not stable enough to be 100% accurate all the time?

When I make a trigger in my current project and click toggle play/paus and choose the stage this code comes up:

I´ve done it countless times now. At first I though I was being hasty when clicking, but no.

Edge web fonts don´t show in preview

Most of the fonts I add from the Edge library doesn´t show in preview. They seem to fall back on some default font. How do I fix this? Is it only in preview that it doesn´t show correct, or also when publishing?

Where do I find "Group elements in div"?

I have a group of objects that move around within a 700x500 px artboard. The size of one object within this group is a map that spills over outside the artboard. I want this group to only be 400 px high, but not change anything withing the group. Just shorten the height of the clip. When I tried to just clip the height to 400 the clipping obviously followed the zooming of the animation of the group. I want the hight to be static at 400 when the animation plays.

Any ideas? Do I need a second clipping mask like I would have added if I worked in Illustrator? So I could move a whole group within a static clipping mask. If so, how do I create one?

If I copy a symbol several times, will it slow down the animation?

Perhaps this is a dumb question.

I have a very simple symbol playing in my animation. It´s a little red dot that changes in size from 100% to 50% and then repeats.

I have copied (not duplicate from symbols pannel) this symbolt serveral times in the animation and plan to copy in loads more, maybe hundreds. Will this slow down the animation, or are all the dots working thru that first original symbol?

Can only websites using Dupral as a publishing tool publish Edge Animations?

I just heard this from a friend working with news media. I don´t know web stuff and publishing myself, but according to what he said Edge animations seems to be VERY limited when trying to get clients interested, since most can´t use the format since they don´t use Dupral. It ends up having to be screencasted, which lowers the quality from vector to more or less grainy video (huge difference) and renders interactivity useless.

This might be a game changer for me. If anything less than the majority of webmakers can´t publish Edge projects I can´t spend time learning this program.

Any takes on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Object dragged into group disappears

I have several objects grouped together. I want to make an outside object join that group, so I drag it into the the group thru the elemants panel, but the object disappears. How can I prevent this? It´s not hidden behind another object.

Will a preloader automatically make the project load before playing?

If I insert one of the preloaders in Edge from the preloader library, will this make the whole animation load before playing? What´s the difference from not inserting one? My project will probably be quite heavy when done, will a preloader fix it so that it will run smooth by loading everything before hand?

Zooming on a vector object doesn´t flow smoothly

I have in this file a single svg object, the map. I have set it to enlarge 1000% on a 3 second timeline. Nothing else is added or done.

It doesn´t zoom smoothly when playing it in Edge or in preview. It makes little pauses and skips. Any clue to why?

I have a finished project done in Edge. Most things are correct in the project, apart from texts being placed wherever Edge feels like placing them. Since I can´t shoot Edge in the head I just have to accept this horrible feature.

I have imported sounds correct (mp3 and .ogg). There´s no auto-play set anywhere in the project, yet the sound won´t play on mobile devices. Why is that?

The mp4-movie file doesn´t show in folder when importing video

When I run my movie .avi-file thru a HTML video converter and set the options to .webM, .mp4 and .ogg, the files end up alright in the target folder.
But when I go to Edge and import movie, the .mp4-file doesn´t show, so I can only add the .webm and .ogg-files.

I was told I need the .mp4 in my video as well or it wont play in explorer and safari.
If I mark the "MP4 Low Res (HTML5)" when converting that file will show when importing in Edge, but it resizes the movie to 1/4 the size and it´s too low res to work..

Please help. There´s not a single action I take where something isn´t just working right of the bat.. so frustrated I´m about to give up

Joe, can you please check this project. I think I got it right with the movie formats now, etc, and the video is playing as it should (I think),

It´s not complicated I believe, and if you could OK this as far as it being "programmed" in a sensible manner I would be forever gratefull. If you OK it that would mean I´m starting to grasp some things, regardless if there are some faster ways.

The troubles I´ve been having really comes down to this.

(The project is not finished btw, so the things in it is not important)

Text on artboard ends up different in preview

Often when I write a text in a textbox on the artboard it doesn´t show correct in preview. If I have for example five words on the first line in a textbox, it might end up with the fifth word jumping down one line in preview, resulting in a domino effect with other words jumping up or down as well.

Have I missed something?

Why the movie actions needs to be fixed

Here´s the most basic example of why the movie interactivity doesn´t work fully in Edge.

In the project below is nothing but an imported 3D animated movie clip (which works), and a button telling the movie to play (which works too).

At the 3,5 mark there´s a trigger telling the movie to pause. It doesn´t, it keeps on running. I´ve tried using "stop all" and multiple other actions, by themselves or in combinations. The movie doesn´t pause. I have managed to make it pause at different intervals, but it was so cumbersome I can´t use it in my work as a graphic news designer. Edge constantly crashes too.

I hope this problem will be adressed in the next update. I bought Edge to add interactivity to animations done in 3D programs, and for now I can´t use Edge for that. Unless I have missed some crucial feature.

Is anybody able to pause a video by using pause/stop triggers on the timeline?

I don´t mean to spam the board because of a problem I can´t solve, but is there anyone out there who manages the following:

1. Import a video into Edge (let´s just say it´s 20 seconds long for this example).
2. Make the video play from start by a play button.
3. Make the video automatically stop at different intervals by setting pause/stop triggers in the stage timeline.
4. Make the video countinue playing from the paused/stoped positions by clicking the play button.
(Example: When clicking play the video would play to the 5 second mark and then stop because of a stop/pause trigger set at the 5 second mark. To make it keep on playing from the stop/pause position at 5 seconds you´d have to click play again)

If so, what triggers on the timeline did you use to stop/pause the video?

You´d be my hero if you could help me out on this. I´ve been trying everything for three days straight now.

Impossible to pause a video

I´ve imported a 20 sec video into my Edge project. No matter which command I try I can´t get the video to pause or stop. I´ve tried using the pause function for the video, tried using stop on the timeline, and tried not marking neither the stage nor the video as autoplay (in every combination possible). I can make it not run in a preview, but once I make set it to run it just won´t stop.. any suggestions?

Can´t copy vector from Illustrator to Edge Animate

In the newest version this should be a function, but nothing happens for me when I copy the object in Illustrator and try to paste it in Edge Animate. Any help?

Another question would be why the filters are even among the tools in Edge when they don´t work on anything, neither vectors not photos.. and also, texts often don´t end up correct in the preview. Seriously, I work as a graphic news designer professionally and pay money for your products. This is not OK.

I´m trying to tell a button to start the timeline from a certain position. In the 2014 version the open actions menu is different from the previous. I don´t understand where I´m supposed to write the number for the timeline in the box that pops up. In the previous it wasn´t a problem, but now I can´t write the number if I don´t also choose a target for for the action. But I don´t have a target? I just want the timeline to start from 1000.
