accessibility / tab click boxes?

Hi,

Okay, can someone explain to me why you can tab through objects like buttons and interactions and playbar and toc but not clickboxes or rollovers? As in accessibility - tab, tab, tab, spacebar to select?

I don't get why not all interactive objects are available.

Change pointer image on an interactive slide?

Running cp8 on Windows 8.

I know how to change the mouse pointer image when doing a software sim.

But how do I (or can I) change the pointer that is used by the learner when they are interacting on a slide? Are we stuck with only the arrow unless they are over an object with hand-mouse on it?

Testing Text Entry Box Empty is not working. Help

Working in Cp7, windows 8.

I am well versed in advanced actions and can't figure out why this is not working.

I actually had it originally as one action using an OR because if either is empty, it's an error:

So it actually WORKS if there is NOTHING entered into the TEB. But if a 0 is entered, it thinks it is empty. 0 is not empty, 0 is a number.

What am I doing wrong? I can't limit the TEBs to only accept numbers because I have to allow for negative numbers and when I set it to only numbers, it only allows positive.

Please help - driving me nuts!

Javascript to print slide AND hide playbar

Hi all,

I know I can use the simple javascript window.print() to print a slide, but when I do that it also prints the print button and playbar. Is there a way - I'm sure there is, I just don't know how.... to hide the playbar, hide the print button, print the page and then show the playbar or a continue button again? I want my users to be able to print just the slide content.

Oh, running CP7 64 but on a windows 8 machine.

Clicking anywhere advances slide imported from PPT 2013 - CP8?

Hi,

Here's the situation.

I imported a file from powerpoint as move automatically (not on click). I then manually added a clickbox to each slide with a pause on it. If I click ANYWHERE on the slide, not in the click area, the slide advances. This is not what happens in a new blank project created from within captivate. So I did some research and learned that perhaps it is the setting in PPT to move on mouse click. I created a new PPT with this box deselected:

Same behavior. When I click anywhere, regardless of clickbox area which is set to pause until user clicks, it moves to the next slide. Yes, I am sure of the clickbox settings because I just copied and pasted it from the blank project in to the project from PPT.

Is there a way to disable this behavior?

CP8 GeoLocation not working - what am I missing?

Working on a windows 8 pc, cp8.

I created a variable for US with lat/long and a large radius.

I then put a caption for rest of project to display my var and the cpInfoGeoLocation var

cpInfoGeoLocation is blank - that doesn't seem right!

I created an advanced action:

If cpInfoGeoLocation is equal to US

Jumpt to slide 5

else

Jump to slide 8

I always land on 8.

Any ideas on what's going wrong?

cp8 audio on interaction clicks not working - help!

Okay, so I have a bunch of interactions in my project. When I added the button content, I also chose the "add audio" and added in a wav file for the tab or button clicks. Now when I click them, the audio does not play. What am I doing wrong????

Closed captioning at object level audio? CP8

Okay, I am required to have CC on my project. I would LOVE to add some audio to learning interaction tabs, clickboxes, etc. However, when I do this, I cannot add CC.

Is there any trick to make this object level audio show up in CC's?

If not, ADOBE, when are you going to add this capability? It would be SOOOO awesome. Pretty Please

CP8 Publishing SWF - MP3s are external now?

I have never seen this one before. I am working in CP8 on Windows 8. I have numerous .wav files in my project. I found out that to attach an audio to a Learning Interaction (like process circle) tab, it needs to be an mp3. So I exported my .wavs as mp3 and re-imported. When I publish in SWF (to a clean folder), I end up with all the mp3s that are attached to interactions in the pub directory. I have ensured that I do not have externalize resources checked. Is this a new behavior? Seems really weird. Anyone else seen it or know what's going on?

CP8 Quiz button shortcut of Enter causes click not to work?

Hi,

Using CP8, on Windows 8

I've been using CP since version 4. I'm usually pretty good at it, but this one has me pulling my hair out.

I got my project all set and then went through and added some kbyd shortcuts. So I selected the submit button for each of my quiz questions and put Enter on it. I made sure that "allow mouse click" was still selected. When I run it, I cannot click, only enter. So I tried to remove the shortcut but can't. I put an odd shortcut like the letter Q on it and not I can click.

What's the deal? Did I break something?

Why Admin mode

Can someone give me to story on why we have to work in admin mode (run as administrator) for CP 6, 7, 8? I know when I don't, I can end up with weird behavior, but that's about all I know.

Is there more info I can give to my clients about why it is necessary?

Captivate 8 slow?

I am running on a 64 bit machine with plenty of memory and disk space.. I am finding CP8 quite slow at times - particularly when saving files, preferences dialog, preview . Anyone else running in to this? Is there any trick to speeding it up at all?

CP8 Interactions and slides with audio and closed captions - not working well - please help

Okay, I am using cp8 on a windows 8 64 bit machine. I have placed an interaction on a slide. I also have audio on that slide and closed captions.

When I get to the slide, the audio does not play because the mere fact that the interaction is on there makes the slide pause upon enter. I could have the student click play on the playbar to go, but that is not required on slides without interactions, so I don't like that solution. I also could do an On Enter slide Play Audio and pick the wav file, but then the closed captions don't show up.

So, the question is, how do I have the slide automatically play the audio at the slide level without the student having to click the play button to go?? Slides with interactions should behave just like other slides with objects/widgets on them. This auto pausing thing is driving me nuts!

Saving screen image to a file? CP7

In CP7, is there a way to save a screen shot to a file? I have a client who's users may not know how to capture a screen shot on their computer. We'd like them to be able to click a button on the slide and have an image of that slide (say certificate) be saved to a file on their pc. Is this possible? How?

Captivate8 - cannot preview - swf errors

Running cp8 on windows 8. Tried to record the simplest of demos. When I went to preview, I get the SWF error (see attached).

I've seen others have this issue on occasion before. What's it from and how do I get rid of it? I did nothing but record and then try to preview.

Captivate 8: are choices of themes different between 32 bit and 64 bit installs?

Hi,

I have two laptops, one is 32 bit and one is 64 bit. So, I have different cp8 installed on each. On my 32 bit machine, I see several themes from the themes tool. On my 64bit machine, I see only the White theme. For each one, I can of course Browse and select a different theme in the folders, but I am wondering if I have a bad installation of CP8.

Is there a CP8 cleaner tool out there to make sure it all gets wiped before reinstall? I could not find one on the adobe site.

Is there a way to export Text to Speech text? CP7

Hi,

I have a whole project completed and now it needs changes by the client. I'd love to export all the TTS text to a document, let her update it and re-import like you can with captions and CC, but I don't see any way to do this. Am I missing something?

If that's not possible, I was thinking I could turn it all in to CC and export those, but I don't see an easy way to turn all notes in to CC other than going slide by slide and clicking the cc box int the notes field.

Ideas?

Using Java script in CP6 vs. CP7

I have been taking Jim's class in javascript for CP7 - it's great! However, I have a client that needs to stay in CP6. I would love to use some of the same js that I got from Jim's class (which works great in my cp7) in cp6, but it is not working. Is there a different way we need to do js in cp6 vs. cp7? I am using the javascript by attaching it to a button and putting the js code in the script window. I'm new to js, so am still feeling my way around.

I'm running CP7 and am just getting my feet wet with javascripting. Will javascript allow me to set more variables than I can through advanced actions? I am interested in trying to manipulate the quiz score vars that report to my LMS to customize some stuff. I want to change things like cpQuizPointsscored. Wondered if it would be possible through js, or is js limited by what it can get/set the same as the limitations withing advanced actions?

how to allow 2 choices to be correct in MC CP6

Custom Captions CP7 half work, half don't. confused.

Hi,

I am trying to create some custom captions to work with my project. I really need them to be custom captions instead of smart shapes so I can just replace the ones that CP creates in a recording with my set. I have created the 5 different images and saved as bmp files. Actually, I created 1, then flipped and rotated to get the other 3 with the pointers/tails on them in the right direction. I have my fcm files that I used from when I did this a loooonnnngggg time ago. Here's the weird thing, the up right and up left work great! The other 3 don't display correctly. They are not totally filled in with my color leaving a large trasnparent margin around the edges and you can't even see the tails. I'm so confused! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Importing Powerpoint in to CP7 taking FOREVER

Has anyone else noticed issues with importing powerpoint files in to Captivate?

I am running cp7 and powerpoint 2013 on a windows 8.1 machine 64 bit.

I have also tried to import into cp6 on the same machine and am running in to the same problem. I am using the start screen to import new project "from powerpoint"

And by forever, I am talking HOURS to import a 12 slide presentation. After an hour or two I tend to lose patients an kill the task. I ahve tried rebotting, making sure nothing else i srunning, etc. Running the ppt and taking a cp recording of it is not an option.

This used to take a while on my old pc, but I thought this brand new one would do a lot better and instead it is crazy worse.

Thoughts? Help?

YouTube Widget Interaction - can use in CP6?

So I have versions of captivate from 4 through 7. The YouTube widget/interaction looks perfect for my needs, but client requires that we work in CP6 and it seems to only be available in CP7.

Is there a way to get it in to CP6? How?

I looked on the adobe site at the "download more" options for widgets/interactions, but there are none. I would think that all the new CP7 ones should be downloadable to CP6, no?

And I've scanned the forums and it seems like there are issues with it in CP7. Does it work in both swf and html5 outputs?

CP6: video's audio keeps playing when go to next slide???!

I am working in cp6. I have inserted and avi video in to my file using the multislide mode, but selecting only one slide for it to spread over. If I click to go to the next slide before the video is done, the audio soundtrack keeps playing. How do I stop this?

Also, am I crazy, or didn't we used to be able to add a mini playbar/skin to an inserted video in older versions of cp? I can't seem to find that option anywhere anymore.

Please help....client requires this video and I am not pleased with the way it is integrating.

Captivate 7 Moodle non-quiz reporting?

Success/Completion Criteria, if I choose slide views and/or quiz, what is the point of the "Quiz is passed" checkbox? this doesn't mean the user has to PASS the quiz, does it? Just take it?

CP6 Certificate Interaction User Name?

So I'm playin with the new "interactions" in cp6, in particular the certificate. I see that you can automatically have the User Name inserted, but where does CP get this from? I can't find a variable defined, nor can I define one of "User Name" (with space). I know I can insert my own using the "other" field, but it seems silly when the widget is tryin to provide it for me. So how do I get the lesson to fill in the User Name so it is displayed on the certificate?

TEB not working properly CP7.01

Hi,

Running CP7.01 (the latest) on a windows 7 pc. I inserted a text entry box, and set a correct entry on it. I have a submit button and infinite tries. The TEB was set to run for 3 seconds pausing at 1.5. I entered the correct text, clicked submit and NOTHING happened! What on earth is going on? I've never seen this type of error before. I then extended the TEB to play for rest of slide and it started working.

Any clues? Are their issues with TEBs and not playing for rest of slide? A friend of mine had a similar issue running CP7.0..1 on her mac.

Can I put a subject in the send email to command?

I'm running cp7.01 on a pc. I have set a button to do the send email to command. This is great in that I can fill in the address, but I would also like to fill in the subject line. I would use the email widget, but I need to publish in HTML5 and the widget is not supported evidently.

Is there another way to sneak a subject line in there?

slide progressing after button click when not wanted - CP7

I think I am going crazy!!! I am sure I have done this in previous versions of captivate. So I put several buttons on a slide all of which simply do and Assign of a variable. No GoToNextSlide or anything like that. I removed their pauses. I then put a clickbox on the slide to hold the action. The clickbox is way off in the corner so it does not get clicked. All are show for rest of slide. It doesnt matter which object is top priority - same behavior. I click a button to do the variable assignment and the slide moves to the next slide!!!! What the heck? Anyone else seen this? Know what's going on?

Okay, I read some stuff on the forums and it seems I need to not just do an assign of whatever, but now I also need to assigm cpCmdPause to 1. So intead of setting a variable via the properties panel, I now need an advanced action because I need to do 2 assigns. Correct?

Not a huge deal, but different than cp6. And if this is in deed the case, then how come a project previoiusly created in CP6 and imported in to CP7 works as I wanted (buttons do their assigning and the slide does not move forward - i.e. playbar is not released)? Very confused over this change in functionality. Can someone clarify please?

I'm running cp7. I want to write my own playbar in flash and have it show up in the skin editor so I can choose it. I created one with a .swf extension and put it in the playbar folder, but I still can't see it in the skin editor. Suggestions?

Interactions 508 compliant cp6 cp7?

I tried inserting the process circle in cp6 and tabbing. The tabbing does not highlight the process circle buttons Only the playbar and a Next button I had on the screen.

Does anyone know if this 'should' work and if it works in cp7 any better??

Variables read by screen readers 508?

Can't turn off fade for interactions? CP6

Interactions not 508 accessible in CP6 and CP7??

Hi,

I LOVE the new interactions widgets in both CP6 and the new ones in CP7. However, I have contracts that require 508 compatibility. I just tried to insert an interaction (in both cp6 and then cp7) - the accordian one in particular. I enabled accessibility in my preferences. I previewed in web browser and tabbed through. The tabbing goes through the playbar but not the interaction buttons

In Cp6, it completely ignores the interation, in CP7, it highlights the entire interaction like it could do something, but when spacebar is hit, nothing happens.

Anyone know if Adobe is planning to make these interactions 508 compliant? And where can I lodge this concern/complaint/feature/bug?

CP7 Math Magic font color change to work on dark backgrounds?

I have created some equatoins in Math Magic via the new captivate 7. I'd love to use the blackboard template for this project, but can't seem to find the right place to change the equation's font color to white. What am I missing here? I tried playing around with the Color Window but when I try to make things white, they really become transparent instead of white. I can change it to other colors, but not white. Help please....

CP7 Shared Actions good use case?

Hey everyone,

Wondering if anyone has a good use case for the shared advanced actions feature new in CP7. If feels a little clunky to me, but maybe I'm not thinking about it the right way yet. I can't see a good place I would use these. I feel like I would still much rather put my action in a CP template instead of this whole shared process. The only thing I like about the shared actions is that if you have vars in your action and export/import, the new project now gets these vars created automatically. That's kind of nice.

Thoughts? Ideas?

2 new user vars in CP7?

Hi,

Just playing around with CP7. I see there are 2 new user vars automatically in every new project:

cpQuizInfoStudentID

cpQuizInfoStudentName

I ran a test to display each and uploaded to my LMS. the ID doesn't display as anything. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this new var is and why it is a user var instead of a system var?

For the 2nd, it was cool that it got auto populated by my LMS and even dispayed on the Certificate Interaction I put in. However, it showed up as Smith, Lori instead of Lori Smith. Is there any way to parse this var to switch the names around or even better to only use the first name if I want to save that to a new var to display throughout the the lesson?

SWF animations not working in PDF gen'd from CP6

I am trying to help a very frustrated client who is having issues with swf animations (among other things). As a quick test, I created a one slide project and inserted 2 animations from the gallery - Animated Green Box and Animated Red Box. I expect them to work perfectly. In the flash output and preview they work fine. But when I gen a PDF, they do not display at all. Is this a known bug?

Any clues what's up?

I am running:

Adobe Reader version 10.1.7

Captivate 6.0.1.240

Flash Version 11.7.700.202

on a windows vista PC

CP6 Powerpoint animations NOT workin in HTML5

I have imported my powerpoint in to cp6. I have embedded animations in the ppt file. WHen I publish to PDF or flash, the animations play nicely. When I publish to HTML5, they don't play at all. If I import without hi fidelity, then the screens are blank of the animated material. If I import WITH hifidelity, then all of the object are present at the beginnin of the slide instead of fading in/out as set on the ppt timeline.

Help!

Powerpoint Animations flicker/appear at start in CP6

I have a pptx file with animations. Simple ones where the text should "fly in". I am using PPT 2007. I am on a windows vista with sp2 machine. Runnin cp6 version 6.0.1.240.

When the captivate slide play, there is a quick flicker of the text caption in its final locatio and then it goes away and flies in. This is toally unacctpable.

Does anyone know what is causin this or how to work around it?

I get this behavior when I import using high fidelity. If I do not use hifi, then my text is all misasligned and other animiations don't work right, so I have to use hifi.

Confusion over incomplete -> pass/fail cp6

Okay, so i've got a little quiz in cp6. I want my lms to show the pass or fail status. It keeps showing passed even though the quiz is definitely failed.

I am using inquisiq and scorm1.2

I have status represenataion set to incomplete-> passed/failed

sussccess/completion criteria set to user access. I have also trield slide views and/or quiz in multiple different settings. I can't get it to show failed.

The quiz is set to one attempt only.

Help! What have I messed up with these settings? I'm so confused....

Import Dreamweaver files in to Captivate 6.0?

Hi,

I have a client who was lead to believe the he could import dreamweaver files in to captivate. I don't see any way to do this. I know that I could put a clickbox and open URL to his html, but some of the stuff is on a private server and they don't want the world to have access to that. They really want to take the dreamweaver stuff, and without having to recreate it, deploy it in captivate. Any thoughts on what the miscommunication may have been or if this actually can be done and I just don't know how? Any insight greatly appreciated!!

Scorm package in CP6 not uploading to LMS - they claim corrupted?

I created a lesson with an embedded flv file in captivate 6. I publish the content and can upload to the scorm cloud just fine. When I upload to my LMS (Inquisiq), it spits out an error and will not upload. I have contacted ICS for a solution. They believe my zip file to be corrupted. They unzipped it and rezipped it and now it uploads fine. So I tried pulbishing another file. Upload does not work. I unzipped and rezipped and now it uploaded fine.

I am publishing for scorm 1.2, swf, html5 & pdf options selected.

Anyone have a clue what might be going on here?

CP6 video (flv) for HTML5?

Hi,

Okay, I need to publish my cp6 project so it works on an ipad. Thus I need html5. I have a video I need to include. It is currently in mpg format, but I can convert to flv. I tried. doing that and inserted video just fine, but am confused. 1. I understand that this will not work on HTML5? But when I try to insert the video as an mp4 or avi, cpativate insists on converting it to an flv. So how can you insert a video that will be supported in html5 publication?

CP6 Captivate 6 Quiz Submit button shortcut doesn't work

Hi,

I have some quiz questions in a cp6 file. The quiz slides worked fine at first. I tried selecting the submit button and attachin the enter key to be a shortcut. When I do this, the first slide sometimes works, but you can never click on the actual button and hitting enter does not work. Yes, if "allow mouse click" was an option, it is still selected. I can still click the Clear button just fine, but not the submit.

Is this a known bug?
