Inserting existing page from one document to another

Hi,

I have 2 documents. The first one is 4 pages and all pages are 8.5" x 11". The second document is 1 page and is 8.5" x 14".

Is it possible to insert the 8.5" x 14" page from the second document into the first document, but make it the 4th page? (therefore making the original 4th page in the first document the 5th page...it's a revision history table so it has to be on the last page and I would prefer the 8.5" x 14" page (a flow chart) to come before it.

Include Text "Examples"

Hi there,

I'm new to Adobe Forms and was curious if there was a way to leave text in a text field that can be used as an "example".

For example, can I somehow insert MM/DD/YY in a date field to indicate to the user the date format they must use that will disappear when they type in the date.

FrameMaker Markers - Standard Markers Used in Technical Writing?

Hi,

This may be more of a technical writing question, but I will be writing a number of different types of documents, including business processes, codes of practice, manuals, standards and work instructions.

I need to decide which metadata to capture, but I am new to metadata, and not entirely sure what I should be capturing.

Can anyone give me advice on typical markers that are used in technical documentation (other than the default ones)?

Autonumbering with Headings

Hi,

I'm trying to auto number some of my headings. Ideally, I would like Heading 1 to have no auto numbering, Heading 2 to go by 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, etc, and Heading 3 to go by 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, etc.

Is there any way to achieve this without having to auto number Heading 1?

Save FrameMaker Book as PDF - Files with different page sizes

I've created a book with 2 files - the pages in the first file are 8.5 x 11, the pages in the second file are 8.5 x 14.

How can I save the book as a PDF but keep both page sizes? Right now if I change the page size in the PDF settings dialog, it changes all pages.

Cannot select arrow that was previously "Sent to Back"

I am creating a flow chart and have to move some objects around. I have an arrow that I believe I set as "send to back" that I cannot select in order to delete it.

Any way of doing this?

Autonumbering with Letters

I'm writing a document where my Heading 1 has roman numerals (I,II,III,etc.), Heading is uppercase letters (A, B, C, etc) and Heading 3 is not numbered. Under each heading 3, there are numbered lists (1,2,3,etc).

My problem is that the second instance of my Heading 2 (which is supposed to be B) is coming out as D. I noticed that putting in steps 1 and 2 after my first Heading 3 caused this to happen.

What am I doing wrong?

GO to URL address changed after FM file is saved as PDF

Hi,

I am using FrameMaker 11 and am trying to insert a URL into a document that is then saved as a PDF file. My problem is that after I save the FM file as a PDF, additonal numbers are being inserted into the address and it will not open.

Is there a way to avoid this or do I have to change the address directly in the PDF? I hope not, because that would be a pain.

Any thoughts?

RoboHelp 9 - Activated or not?

Hi,

I recently installed RoboHelp 9 on a machine that is not connected to the Internet. I am confused as to whether it is activated or not. When I open a project, I am given a dialog with the option to register 9 (which I always skip). I know there is a difference between activation and registration. The Deactivate option is grayed out on the Help menu.

Basically I need to know whether I will be able to continue using RoboHelp 9 after 30 days. Again, my machine is not connected to the Internet, and connecting is not an option. Otherwise, I have no need for this product.

Dialog thats prompts to either open or save

My .chm file has been implemented into a GUI. When you click the link in the GUI for the Help, I get a dialog asking me to either open or save. This has never happened before (usually the help justs opens). I am using RoboHelp 7.

RoboHelp 8 - Missing Browse Sequence

I previously created a project in RoboHelp 7. I am now working on this project in RoboHelp 8, however when I generate it, it does not show the browse sequence. The Browse sequence check box is selected in Window Properties, and I am on the same computer as before when I was working on it in RoboHelp, so I don't think the problem is with the HHactiveX.dll file, because it was registered from before.

Help Jumps and Bullet Colours

I have two problems that may or may not be related to each other. The first is that I have several topics with bullet lists. The bullets are supposed to be blue, but after being compiled, there are some that are blue, and some that are black. In general, the bullets that are black have a jump inserted (I have tried taking out the jump, and the bullet goes back to blue). Any suggestions on what caused this and what I can do to keep all bullets blue?

Also, when I select text to insert a jump, and right-click, I no longer get the option to insert a jump, and the RoboHelp tab in Word does not give me this option. Any insight into this?

Winhelp Problem - RoboHelp received Word error 24 message.

I am working with a Winhelp project in Robohelp 8. I am not sure what version was used to create it. I need to fix some help jumps but I keep getting the following message: RoboHelp received Word error 24. If you continue to get this error, contact Adobe Systems for technical support." I also get the same message if I double-click on any topic.

RoboHelp 8 - ME= added to glossary entry

I previously created a project in RoboHelp 7. I am now working on it in RoboHelp 8. I noticed that in RoboHelp 8, ME = has been added in front of one glossary entry after the project is generated.

What caused this and what can I do to remove it and prevent it from happening?
