Drag and drop not working on Mac

By testing my extension in a Mac I noticed that drag and drop doesn't work as expected. Therefore I have created a new simple extension with only one list and a simple data provider:

[Bindable]

public var aData:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(['one','two','three','four']);

<s:List dataProvider="{aData}" dragEnabled="true" dropEnabled="true" dragMoveEnabled="true"> </s:List>

this should allow the user to reorder the items in the list by dragging them.

It works fine in Windows as extension for Photoshop CS6 and also in Mac as AIR application but it doesn't works as Photoshop CS6 extension in Mac (Lion); I can neither see the drop line between items.

Is this a known problem and which is the workaround ?

Regarding the changes to be made next year for extensions support in the new Photoshop CC versions I must decide how to continue development of Photoshop tools, therefore I would like to know if, at least in short term, scripting will be supported in the next CC versions of Photoshop.

Trial has expired

At saving my project or building I get the warning that "Your trial for Adobe Extension Builder has expired."

I have a valid subscription for the product and can't find the way to activate the license. I'm using Extension Builder 2.1 and Flash Builder 4.6

Unable to sign in after installing in 2nd computer

I recently downloaded the store build and installed in a PC, signed in and all went fine.

Today I have downloaded and installed the Mac version to be able to debug some issues in my Mac, I could sign in also in the Mac but returning to the Pc it keeps asking to sign each time.

Have tried to use administrator but it doesn't helps.

I thought I could use it on both a Mac and a Pc but if not, please let me know how to disable in the Mac.

How to set systemchrome to none

I'm trying to open a modeless window from an extension but I'm unable to remove the system border, following documentation I have to set systemchrome to none in the app.xml file but this file is not present.

Where can I set this value or is a different way to open modeless windows with extension look possible ?

Extension signature time stamping not working as expected

Due to an issue with my previous certification provider my extensions where invalid after the certificate expired, now I have changed the provider and want to make sure that they won't be invalid again when the certificate expires.

Therefore I'm checking that the timestamping option of the Signing tool kit ( -tsa) works fine, therefore after packaging and signing my extensions I have changed my computer date to 2017 and tested, the currently certificated and time stamped extension fails to be installed with this date, if I use GeoTrust it works fine.

I have checked the signature file and both seem to include the needed timestamping details.

I have contacted my current certification provider support and they answered that it seems that Extension Manager is enforcing to expect that the Time Stamping Authority certificate remain valid indefinitely which is not how they understand Time Stamping should work.

I thought that using timestamp was the method to ensure that extensions could be installed at any time independently of the validity of the certificate in the future.

Please can someone check that Extension Manager installs the time stamped extensions correctly in the future ? Or do I need to use any special timestamping server?

Extension Manager alternative

I develop a commercial extension and my customers are having many issues installing it with Extension Manager, both for CS6 and CC.

One time Extension Manager freezes, another they have to run as administrator, they get signing issues, invalid manifest files, they have to disable Internet connection, etc, etc. Not to mention people who downloads the demo and is unable to install it but never contacts to solve.

If the extension is just manually installed all works fine.

Therefore I believe that I will need to develop my own installer for my extensions until this problems can be solved. Besides from just automating the manual installation process and getting admin privileges, should I be aware of anything else ?

Any help is greatly appreciated, I need to solve this asap.

Extension signing certificate issues

I'm having problems with my current certificate issuer (Globalsign) as they decided not to support developers any more and have to change to another company; this means my certificate can't be renewed.

My knowledge about certificates is very limited, please can you help me?

Extensions released with the old certificate can still be installed after it expires ? If, yes, will the user become a warning or something else ?

Some users reported ( before the related certificate issue) that they got "invalid signature" warnings (mainly with CC) and they had to disable internet access in the extension manager to get it installed, this makes me think about the whole system.

Is really a certificate needed ? Why not just allow us to input our contact details and let the user decide to trust or not?

Just paying a yearly fee only to guarantee that our names appear at the installation seems not to be very reliable. May be Adobe can allow extension builder developers an easier way to sign our extensions.

Btw, I assume I'm not the only one signing the extensions, right ?

I'm running Windows 8 and only have a few CC applications installed, I use mainly Photoshop and it asks me to sign in again every couple of days, also I have to accept the license again.

I use Photoshop while debugging with Flash Builder or alone, in both cases it prompts to sign in. I have noticed that also after installing another application it asks me to sign, but it does while running Photoshop and not the new app.

Any help would be appreciated.

Licensing Extension Builder 2.1

I have subscription license for Extension Builder 2.0, now I have build a new system with Windows 8 ( for CC) and installed Flash Builder 4.6 and Extension Builder 2.1.

When extending the max version to Creative cloud for my extensions I'm prompted to update libraries but then I'm requested to purchase Extension Builder.

Please, may I know where I have to input my license details ?

I'm using Flash Builder Standard 4.6 and Extension Builder 2.

Have just signed for Creative Cloud and need to know if installing the Flash Builder Premium from Creative Cloud will be a smooth process and I can continue working on my extensions without pulling out my hair

I believe the version in CC is 4.7 instead of 4.6, in this case what should I be aware of ?

Extension Builder and Photoshop CC

May I get some info about how to handle the new Photoshop CC version ?

I need to know if it is compatible with Extension Builder, and if it's possible to get a beta to test my extensions. It should be out in June and have no other info than a press release.

I believe that building extensions for a product like Photoshop is a way to enhance this application and Adobe should appreciate it, but it's very difficult for me to get the right info and tools to continue enhancing this product.

Shape thumbnails in CS6

Is there any way to get the same looking thumbnails for shapes in CS6 ?

With previous versions I could get the position of the shape just by looking at the thumbnail in the layers palette but now they are only generic icons, I have tried to resize them and set panel options ( Thumbnails contents) but without any luck.

It's really a problem if they are many shapes in the document.

Force locale for localecompare

I'm trying to use localecompare to sort strings but have found that comparing german or spanish strings (for sample) in an english system fails ( á goes after z and so on).

How can I set the locale before using localecompare to make sure it's correctly sorted in all languages despite the system locale ? Do i need to write my own sorting method ?

UnitValue in flex

Probably it's a simple question but I'm unable to find the answer, which is the equivalent of UnitValue in flex ?

It seems UnitValue is not available with extension builder, I have looked in all libraries.

And in this case how to get the value of ( for sample) activeDocument.width ? It works playing with the string value but I'm sure it should be a better method.

Documents folder in Windows

I have build an extension which needs a file in the user / Documents folder, this file is included in the hybrid bundle as a resource with following destination:

$userhomefolder/Documents

in the extension I use the file as:

File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath("my file")

the problem is that in some Windows installations the extension manager doesn't saves the resources in the same Documents folder but in one in another drive, then my extension can't find this file. I'm not sure what kind of Windows configuration this users have but it seems the user Documents folder is not located in the main drive.

How can I be sure that the destination in the bundle resoures always points to File.documentsDirectory ?

Not valid signature on hybrid extension

I'm trying to sign an hybrid extension with my Globalsign certificate, I have tried using the signing toolkit and also directly in FlashBuilder ( Export Extension - hybrid).

While installing the extension I always get "Extension ... does not contain valid signature". It creates the package without any warning or error, but I can't install it.

I have successfully signed non hybrid extensions and they install fine, it's just the hybrid one. The certificate is also recent and I have tried including timestamp and without.

Using Windows Vista and Extension Manager 6.0.1.26 , I have heard about issues with Mac OS X in the past but it's not the case.

When using the signing tool the command is: java -jar ucf.jar -package -storetype PKCS12 -keystore globalsign.p12 com.mycompany.myextension.zxp -C "C:\myextfolder" .

If I create the hybrid package using the Extension Manager it installs fine but I get this ugly warning for not signed extension.

Updating commercial extension

I'm about to deploy a commercial extension but have some doubts relating to updates.

My scenario is a couple of extensions which should be installed at same time and a lot of resource files to be installed in the users Documents folder.

So far no problem, I add the second extension to the first in the manifest, create an hybrid extension and add the resources folder with destination "Documents".

I belive I only need to sign the extension package, later I double click at the mxi file to allow extension manager to create the big zxp file which doesn't need to be signed, correct ? ( Seems to work)

Ok, the problem now is that I need to control which users may update and which not, adding an automatic update in the mxi file means no control, therefore I guess I have to send the new version zxp manually but then Extension Manager requests to uninstall the old version which means deleting the resources folder.

I need a way to update the extension without affecting the current resources, may be adding more but not deleting the current ones.

It would be great if the extension itself could download and install the update like I do with additional resources instead of the Extension Manager who doesn't know about the user.

I have tried to add the update in the mxi file but this way I must include all resources again in the update or they will be deleted automatically by the extension manager.

How to package an obfuscated swf ?

I'm not sure how the packager works but it seems to create a new release build and then package it.

Then, how can I package my own swf file after having it obfuscated ? There is no way to just browse for the swf file I want to have included.

Version number and updating extension

I wonder where to set my application version number, I have tried at the bundle manifest but if setting at extension it is not shown anywhere at the extension manager and I don't know how to get this value for an "About" window.

Therefore I have set the bundle version to match my application number, this way at least the number is visible in the manager.

Also if I try to install an updated version of my extension the extension manager asks me to delete previous version because it conflicts with this one, I expected that the extension manager would ask if updating; am I doing something the wrong way ?

Text colors and autoThemeColorChange

Creating an extension for CS6 I'm using

CSInterface.instance.autoThemeColorChange = true;

at start and it looks nice but I have a problem with:

Alert messages and my own popup windows: the background is almost white and text gray, really hard to read.

Text in the status bar: docs are telling that statusBar and statusText are skin parts but I can't find how to change them. I could only set the blend mode to screen to make it lighter.

Extensions location

I'm wondering where the installed extensions are located, I know about the debuging ones but I'm unable to find the folder where the final extensions are place.

If this is a hidden place only known by the extension manager it would be great because it would add an extra protection to our code but I would prefer that someone confirms this point.

spark list selecteditems order is erratic

Using a spark list to show thumbnails and allowing multiple selection I have found that the order in list.selecteditems vector is not correct, after a lot of searching on the net it seems this is a bug ( http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-30701 ).

Would appreciate if someone has a workaround for this or an update is available.

Otherwise it seems I have to control the click event and fill my own array of selected items.

CS target version with Extension Builder 2

In version 1.5 I could select both CS5 and CS5.5 as targets for my extension, now ( version 2) I can only select one version.

Does this means that by selecting CS6 I can deploy for 5, 5.5. and 6 with the same build or do I need to deploy 3 different versions of my extension ?

Trying to make sure it will be compatible with all 3, is it the best solution just to code and build for version 5 ?

Mouse wheel not working as expected

I have an extension with a scrollable list control, if the document open in Photoshop fits the screen ( no need to scroll in Photoshop) the mouse wheel works fine in my list but once I zoom the document in Photoshop the mouse wheel only operates on the document, never on my extension regardless where I focus or even if I move the extension to another monitor.

Can I force that the mouse wheel works for the extension instead for the document ?

I'm using Photoshop CS5, Windows Vista, CS Extension Builder 1.5 and Flash Builder 4.5

Copy and paste issue

While trying to create a simple copy and paste function ( from one open document / image into another open document in Photoshop CS5 ) like:

PsApp.bringToFront();

PsApp.activeDocument.selection.selectAll();

PsApp.activeDocument.selection.copy();

PsApp.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

PsApp.activeDocument.paste();

//more code to work with the pasted image

I have noticed that many times it doesn't paste the image and the next code throws unexpected results, but if I run it in debug mode and place a breakpoint just after calling the function ( like forcing a pause) then it runs fine.

Tried also with scripting listener code, both in flex and Java with the same result; this also happens with a File - place script.

I tried to insert a loop at the end of the process checking if the number of layers have increased after the paste call, and they actually increase but the image is not pasted

For some reason it seems that the clipboard is not working as expected when the process is fast ¿?. Have also tried to clear the clipboard and to purge with no luck.

I have had similar issues with Java scripting before but they were solved using the listener code instead, but it doesn't works now. Other users have the same problem but haven't found a solution.

I'm using CS5 and Extension Builder 1.5.0.2 with Flash Builder 4.5.1

How to localize Photoshop layer names

I'm trying to get the default layer names for background, group, etc used by Photoshop depending on users local language.

As I haven't found a direct way I decided to use javascript instead:

I have a jsx code like

function GetBackground()

{

var message = localize( "$$$/LayerName/Background=Background");

return message;

}

and in the extension I use

var result:SyncRequestResult = CSXSInterface.instance.evalScript("GetBackground");

trace(result);

but result value is undefined.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to code an application using PhotoshopTouchSDK and have a "generic" problem due to the inherent asynchronous operating way of flex.

Regarding that answers are available in an eventhandler I have no direct way to return a value to the calling function.

For sample:

If I need to get a layer name I ask first if there is a document open to avoid errors, so I create a function to get the "documentopen" value and if answer is yes I can continue. The problem is that the answer is not available in the function itself but in the eventhandler of the message dispatcher.

Of course I could continue from inside the event handler but this would not allow for reusing the "documentopen" function in the code and I would need to create a different eventhandler each time I need to be sure a document is actually open for whatever other process I may start.

Setting a public variable value doesn't helps because there is no immediate change of it, and asking the value doesn't ensure getting the new one.

A synchronous message dispatch would solve this problems but I believe this is against the nature of flex.

I have read some articles about callbacks but I'm not sure this is the correct approach, if yes I would greatly appreciate a sample (if possible with the message dispatcher of the SDK).

Probably I'm not using flex in the correct way ( I'm used to synchronous functions with return values for too many years ) but can't find a different way to get this solved.

Is createDeferredContent() the best option?

I'm new to Flex and I'm writing an application where I need to load 3 different xml files before showing the components ( some custom components included).

I have set creationPolicy="none" at Application level and then I added an event listener to the complete event of each xml loader, so that the next xml file can be loaded sequentially, after firing last event I call createDeferredContent to show the components.

In short: I'm loading the application sinchronously and nothing is shown until the data is available.

Is this the correct way? It works fine but I'm not sure if this is the recommended way.

I tried in asinchronous mode but then sometimes it loads well when debugging ( local files) but almost never after uploading files to the server ( due to the loading delay of the xml files).
