web app href image link failing

I have a web app that is creating a link to a document in order to download. In the web app is a series of links which I have working fine. here is a bug though being thrown up in regards to making an image as a link.

On the same web app this link of code works fine. The obvious occurs where by a predefined image is surrounded by a href and the link is generated:

The above href when live will generate a working link: http://sitename.businesscatalyst.com/Documents/test-document.pdf

In the same web app I also have another image of the document thumbnail which the web app is generating and then I have surrounded that with a href link also being generated by the web app. Effectively 2 web app tags. In this case though the image renders fine but the surrounding href fails.

The above code which uses the same href tag in the same web app item will generate a link: http://sitename.businesscatalyst.com/current-investment-opportunity/item-2

This bug is all relative to the fact I have 2 tags next to each other. It is worth noting the href tag is linking to a pdf so I have used the technique of creating a image field tag in order to be able to link to a pdf.

Yes I could just create a url link and paste that in instead which may end up being the final solution but I want to keep this whole process as simple as possible for the client making updates so if they can just use an internal linking system then the better.

Has anyone encountered this and or have a fix for it.

Email campaigns not sending

Is anyone else getting issues with email campaigns being scheduled days in advance, getting confirmations it has been scheduled, and then finding the campaign does not send and returns to draft mode?

I have had several campaigns scheduled days in advance only to return hours after the scheduled time to find the campaign still sitting in draft mode. I have submitted a case on this but I am curious if this is something others are finding too.

After it happened the first time, accepting I must have made the mistake, I have been exceptionally thorough in triple checking the scheduling and watching for when the campaign goes.

BC DreamWaever extension panel failing to work

Is anyone else getting a failure with the BC DW extension today. It has been working fine and now this morning it fails to make a connection and errors. This is what I am getting:

So to clarify I am getting this issue on multiple computers using various login users. I am using DW CC 13.2 Build 6466

Yes I can login to my Partner Portal

Yes I can login using DW via SFTP

Yes I can login to various client sits Admin
Yes I have rebult my site files in DW just incase (note this is happening on multiple machines)

Yes I have quite DW and rebooted the computers

Yes I have deleted prefernces and rebooted computers

When I try to make a connection via the BC extension in BC as usual it bumps me to the Adobe Creative Cloud login, makes the connection, then drops me back into BC where this message is then displayed. I can use the logout button and try again and it fails.

BC support is saying Dreamweaver Support need to be contacted, Dreamweaver Support say BC need to be contact. Yes I have logged a ticket and spoken to chat.

Is anyone else suffering this problem today also?

Web form {tag_webformresults} appearance is there a better way?

OK so the default action of BC to display webform results in an email and redirect page is a shocker to say the least. I say this in respect to when you start to include Extended CRM Database fields as part of the webform and start creating an extensive web form.

When using the WYSIWYG form builder to assemble the form all the standard form fields can be stacked and ordered as you require. When adding the CRM Form fields they automatically are jammed to the bottom of the builder and cannot be positioned amongst the general fields. Yes this can all be overcome by customising the code when inserted into a page no problem. When though the {tag_webformresults} tag is included as the email auto responder and redirect page the order and appearance of the content is exactly as it appears in the form builder which is just terrible. All the data is out of order in comparison to the customised design and as separators and headings for not exists much of the fields all look identical. Simply it does not work for complex forms.

Many clients simply do not want to use the CRM because of how strenuous, slow and poorly thought through the process is to extract data from a single form submission. The solution all to often asked for by my clients is to simply get an email with the data.

Clearly the {tag_webformresults} does not work and I need to know is there another solution that can be used to customise the look of the auto responder to create a visual structure where the data actually appears in a usable manner? I was hoping I could do it in Web Apps but the user must be logged in for it's auto responder to work. Not a solution.

Screwed up email 'FROM' addressing COMPLAINT

Yes this is a complaint. Seriously what is going on with the FROM email addressing and how did anyone in BC ever think that deliberately changing and screwing with a clients FROM details improves things for clients.

This is now what happens to one of my clients because he does not host his DNS with BC. His 'from' addressing is changed. All his clients now get this for campaigns and notifications. I have substituted his name for 'ClientName' and website name for BusinessName (as I do not think his personal details are relevant.

Yes it really do string along that much. This is supposedly an enhancement. It does nothing but make the client look dodgy because the trusted address his end clients have seen for the last 20 years now looks spammy.

Email deliverability enhancements  We've introduced two new changes with the goal of improving our email deliverability rates.

• Campaigns and operational emails (ie. workflow notifications) will now be signed with DKIM, acting as a digital signature and improving overall email deliverability.

• These emails will now also include a "sent via worldsecuresystems.com" header if the FROM email address is not a domain that has it’s DNS hosted with Business Catalyst.

Just incase you are a BC Partner like myself and have not actually seen this problem for yourself. After an hour of testing to figure out why the client sees it and I do not Live Chat tells me anyone with an email address hosted within BC actually does not see this stupid amendment to the FROM address. Here was Live Chats response:

"If the email is sent to "ClientName@BusinessName.com.au" which is hosted on BC, it does not include the worldseruresystem in the header, and if I sent it to myself it includes the header, as my email is not hosted on BC. So it also depens on the receipient's email address."

Trully idiots are being employed within BC. How can we as BC Partners ever trust any testing we do in this system when we cannot even display what the end client is seeing?! Does BC really think that this helps a business have credibility online? Anything that has a dumb domain name like 'worldsecuresystems.com' and thinks this makes people feel more secure about the legitimacy of an email is a fool. I know what the relevenace 'worldsecuresystems' has within BC but 1 million+ other people do not. It is like typing into the subject line "This Is Not SPAM". Irrespective of the digital signature this change supposedly makes in improved email deliverability is countered by the shear stupidity of how it appears.

I clearly have a problem with this, my client has a problem with it too. I am sure we are not the only ones.

News / Announcement module paramaters not working

The current Knowledge Base help lists these as the usable paramaters for the Announcement module:

So if I want to nominate the length of characters that is displayed I would need to use the 'rowlength' paramater which appears as the 9th in order. eg. {module_announcement,a,,,,,,,,300,,}

Simply I cannot get that to work. regarless if I use {module_announcement,a,,,,,,,,300,,} and or {module_announcement,a,,,,,,,,300,} and leave the last paramter off is still does not work.

Has anynone managed to get this to work or am I interpreting the Knowledge Base wrong?

Content in Knowledgebase sometimes overflows to hidden

Thought to mention on a few times I have encountered the Knowledgebase overflows text sometimes and it cannot be read. Here is shot of the Tag Quick reference page and how it is happening. I cannot say where else specifically I have seen it before but this was one just this morning so thought to post it before I forget again. It is only cutting off the last 3 to 4 letters but it makes it annoying when it is something important. For now I just copy and paste the block of text into a separate text file to read it but the issue does need to be addressed.

product attributes in admin not updating after editing

Is anyone elese getting the issue where the Product Attributes in the BC Admin cannot be updated once created? I am finding if I create either one of many Attributes as part of a Product, if by chance I make a spelling mistake, change the Display As, or simply change the name that it will not update no matter how many times you go back and change it. The only method if I want to change it is to go and delete it and build it all again.

I have tried it in Firefox and Chrome on the Mac and get the same issue.

Firefox issue with Help & Support page

I have logged this with Chat first thing this morning to look at but thought to mention it here incase people are hitting the same problem and not knowing what is going on. Saves you hammering support.

With changes to the BC system overnight it appears there is a display issue coming from Firefox on the Mac when going to the Help and Support page and then to view your Support Tickets. Firefox is bugging out and the Support Tickets page is not showing your previous and open cases window. So until the issue is fixed I have found Chrome or Safari still works well on Mac (have not tested the PC). See below:

Other design notes I also mentioned was there is no clear indication that you are actually logged in when in the Help & Support section (which added to me contacting chat because I did not know if the Support Tickets was even working), and that the Help & Support page actually no longer fits on a 1280px laptop screen anymore.

So until the issue is fixed Firefox is no longer reliable with BC. I have tested this issue on 3 separate Macs and all respond the same.

1 login to multiple secure zones

I want to have a single landing page with a login box. The user logs in and is directed to their secure zone. The site has 3 separate secure zones and the user is nominated to login to one of those secure zones only. Is it possible to have a generic login box that will direct the user to their secure zone? This is very dumb down system for base users so not having to 'choose' their secure zone during the process is rather imperative.

Is this possible in BC? I thought it was using the 'Generic Secure Zone Login Box' but that just keeps the user on the same page it is added to. I have gone through the help and scoured the forum prior to this question but maybe I am just terming it wrong and hence cannot find the answer.

Extending CRM and Form Builder

Is it correct in what I am seeing that the CRM froms generated from the Extend CRM Database are not hot swapable within the form builder? Unlike all the standard fields and custom generated fields within the form builder which can be moved around, it appears the CRM Forms become static placements. Is my browser simply bugging out or is this the case? I cannot move them once placed and stupidly they are placed below the everything including the Word Verification.

If it is the case, which I am suspecting, it renders the Form Builder for clients without HTML skills (like most of them) completely useless.

Matbe my borwser si just bugged. Confirmation please if anyone else gets this same issue.

literature date order

OK so a client has just mentioned that they can longer load a literature item and have it appear in order of most recent to last within a classification.

Due to BC's extremely broken logic the only way in the past we were able to get this to happen was to label an item with a specific code at the front of the file name such as: 28082012_filename.pdf . This basically translates 18.8.2012 + file name. By doing this in the past a stacking order would occur.

Now regardless if this method is used or not any new item simply gets dumped to the bottom of the Literature list when displayed using the 'All Items in a Category Classification'.

Is there a way to have literature items displayed in some logical order when in a classification? it would be freaken ridiculous if the client has to resort to placing each item individually just so they can have some logic in this mess of files.

This used to work because the client has just spent 2 years doing it. Older files remain in order but newer ones will not.

I have searched the help and forums but have no reference. I am hoping since this is now broken there is a better method implemented...maybe?

Screwed up system notifications

Why is BC sending email notifications to ALL users of a system when the email quota for the month is nearing its total? These emails that go out titled "Waring: You are Close To Recieving Your Email Newsletter Limit' have no relevance to anyone but an Administrators of a site no one else.

Online chat simply says that is what the system now does, it is server side, and there is nothing that can be done about it. This is ridiculous. We have checked and checked everything again and again to make sure there is nothing we are doing wrong or a way around it. Turelly does BC actually think about anything that is being done these days?

If someone actually has a fix for this that the online chat do not know about please tell us otherwise get on the case and fix it NOW. It does nothing but spread fear and confusion to system users that think that thier end clients are not going to be reached or that the system is going to fail.

Overiding system message pages for double opt-in

OK I am wondering if this is possible I have searched and found no info on it but I jus tight be searching the wrong keywords.

I want to amend the way the system messages are working for an email marketing double opt-in process.

Right now an email is being issued to the user that subscribes and they click the link to confirm their email. This link takes the user to the system page 'Subscription Confirmation Request'. From there they click the link and they are sent to another system page called 'Subscription Confirmed'.

Firstly can I nominate my own page from the email instead of using the 'Subscription Confirmation Request'? Can I amend this tag in the email: {tag_verificationurl}

Secondly if I cannot amend the frist step can I redirect the second confirmation page to go to my own page instead of going to 'Confirmation Request'? Can I amend this tag: {tag_confirmation_form,Confirm}

Logically I could simply customise these 2 pages but the problem is it means any subscriptions to anything on the site will also see these pages so it does not work when more than one subscription process is required.

Assitance appreciated.

Template extensions have changed online

Where is this bad luck coming from... all my template extension on BC have changed from .dwt to .html on only one ceratin client site.

I have a client site that as of yesterday had all the correct extensions for all the templates. I FTP downloaded the whole site for archive before doing the work. No templates were touched until this morning I needed to do a small amend to one. I found I could not upload the template within DW and was getting an error. I checked the template to ensure the editable region was in place just to be sure and not waste anyones time. On looking at the live site through DW all the templates had the extension .html (on all my other client sites the extensionis .dwt). Looking at the site through BC Admin it even says the templates have the extension .html.

This is the error I get when trying to load a .dwt file. Standard for when the template usually does not have a editable region:

Fearing my BC extension for DW CS4 was busted I downloaded again and reinstalled. No change.

Checking something was not bugging the BC extension I have gone into multiple client sites, loked at the templates, downloaded the templates, edited the templates, and reloaded the templates and this .html issue is not showing up.

Lastly to ensure nothing has been edited i checked the modification dates and the templates have not been touched in over a week for some of them if not longer. Yet the extensions have changed in the last 24hrs.

Online chat threw me the comment that all BC templates are only ever .html and it is DW that converts the extension. Bollocks to that especially when a FTP download will retain the extensions correctly to show the point.

Online chat sent me a snapshot showing how the templates appear to them on BC and said this is normal. Does not make sense. All it does for me is show the issue of the extensions being wrong:

I need someone local that can look into this because these guys in India are clearly too inexperienced. Can one of the local guys look into this please ASAP as this impact is critcal to maintenance.

A case is supposed to have been raised but I am yet to see it appear in the Support Portal. If I see it appear I will update with the number.

Double Opt In email issues not showing

We have been at this for a while and lots of online support chats but not real help. Effectively we are not getting the double opt in email containing the double opt in link. It simply is not appearing.

We are aware that if you already have an email address in the system then it should appear but it is not. We have created so many new email addresses to test it is not funny to the point we are scrubbing the system but the addresses can never be reused. It is getti g hard to test what the problem really is.

Below is the code in the head of our webform. As part of the webform we need it to op[t into a secure zone by default and yes we are bypassing the email that that opt in does. We are though needing the double opt in email for the subscribe to the email list.

Delays using Literature module and PDFs

Is there issues with the Literature module these days. Over the past few months i have been seeing slower and slower response times in loading when using this module to the point now it takes anything from 1min to 30min to load a 500k file. Totally ridiculous. Yesterday it took all day and night to load 21 500k files (PDFs) into the system. It was so slow for the sake of the clients sanity I did it the old FTP way in 1min and then hard linked as a temp solution until I could get them up.

At times I give it the befit of the doubt and think my internet connection is slow but i simply cancel the upload and can zipp throught he admin, navigate sites, and stream video without any noticable delays. What is alrming is that it only seems to be delaying on PDFs. There really is something wrong with how the server is responding.

Regardless if it is a 5k file or a 500k file the system simply stalls saying 'waiting for www...'. Online chat simply cannot explain it apart from "it must be a slow server". Anyone here have a better answer than that?

I got one email when I registered back in early april which gave some lose information on location and time. There was one blog entry listing what was happening but that was it with no details on location, times. The initial email promosied to be contacted closer to the date but nothing has been said. A link from the only blog entry I could find gives a link to

Did anyone get any more info than a one off email?

Am I just going crazy or has basically all of our previous forum conversations and help notes to each other NOT been integrated in this new forum?

I am looking for information on common issues and questions that have had good help support delivered by fellow partners in the past and they simply cannot be found in this forum through search. I had many bookmarked as well.

When I do a google search using specific phrases or wording and including Business Catalyst as part of it heaps of stuff comes up but on clicking they have all been redirected to the new Adobe Forum home page.

So much knowledge lost. Is there any way of accessing the old forum info?

Selected state issue with Menu Module V2

OK so I am getting an issue with Menu Module V2. I have used this before with success but this time I have hit a wall. I possed this question to BC live chat and they bugged out real quick.

The site in construction is http://www.urbanista.com.au

What is happening is that in the top right tools nav with the headings Home, Services, People, Contact Us using Menu Module V2. The Heading Services has a drop down and this is where the issue resides. Roll over any of these nav devices and you will see they will highlight orange. Home is already auto activating its Selcted state. Click on Contact Us and it will do the same. Roll over and click on Services and it appears to have worked. While in Services roll over the drop down again and you will see all links have activated the Selected state. This is the issue. If you view the code of the Services UL you will see only the Services state has been alocated the Slected state. See below:

The last entry 'ul.dropdown li.selected a {color: #ff871f;}' is required in order to allocate a Slected State. Without it not Selected state is active and the links al remian white.

I have tried all manner of combinations and additonal tags with no success. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I have not modified the default Javascript provided by BC in the system apart from allocating the required ulTagClass as specified. The Javascript in the supplied 'container.html' is as follows:

Botched Adobe ID logins

What a mess this Adobe ID has become. I just got locked out of all my sites and partner portal because my Adobe ID I have been using just stopped working (again). When I tried to log in I just got lockout message and asked to try again later. Nice one guys because once you lock us out we cannot submit a support request to get it fixed because we have to log in. Tried the password reset and never got the emails. I had to just create yet another new Adboe ID attached to my same email adress just to get this far. So far now I am up to my 4th Adobe ID on the same email.

Not only that but the login message at the start of the BC sites asks you to agree to the Terms and Conditions. Try clicking on the Terms and Conditions and all it does is promopt you to login again in a new window (or at least that is what it is doing for us). Privcay statement worked but not the Terms and Conditions. So I had to agree to the Terms and Conditions before I could even read them.

I am having a bad couple of weeks with BC
