Updating Adobe ID and Partner Log In

Had a super frustrating time after updating my Adobe ID. Here’s my story. Maybe someone can throw some light on these issues or maybe this will simply help someone else.

For some years, as far back as 2004 I have been a loyal Adobe product supporter. I have purchased the entire suite of products and done so happily. Just recently, I noted as I logged into my Adobe ID that I have used for my Adobe Business Catalyst Premium Partner account, that my country of origin was “Aruba”, (I am from Australia). As the webpage was now totally translated in another language foreign to me, I contacted Adobe Support to ask if my country could be changed. After waiting approx. 30 mins for a technical person to answer my call, I was advised that I had product purchases attached to my account — the answer was “No” my country could not be changed. I then asked what the best steps to follow were. “Create a new Adobe ID”. I followed the advice of the Adobe Support Consultant on the phone 23/11/2012, which was to amend the email address on the ID (country Aruba) currently being used for my BC log in, make it something new/use another email address. Next step was to create a new Adobe ID with the original email address (the one that matches my Adobe Business Catalyst account). I have approx. 40 BC sites connected to this account, plus I am a white label BC Premium Partner. So I ran through this process, verified emails etc. to get my new Adobe ID up and running. The next step was to then attempt to log into my Adobe Business Catalyst Partner portal. Error message was something along the lines of “Authentication issue, please contact support”. I then contacted support via live chat. Initial advice was to “reset your password”, which did not seem right, as the new and now old ID’s were both up and running allowing me to log into Adobe.com. After persisting with Live Chat for about 10 mins, I managed to get my issue escalated to Level 2 and after placing some urgency on my request, (I am totally locked out of my BC Partner account and all my client accounts) providing all passwords and usernames to both my Adobe ID accounts, I was asked to wait for a response from Adobe tech support who would email me and advise me further.

About 4 hours had passed since my initial request. I then received an email from Adobe to “Reset my password” on my newly created Adobe ID. I have not followed this step by the way, again, both ID’s work by logging into Adobe.com.

In the meantime, I took a test back within DW6 to see if I could connect to my BC Partner website. On first attempt to log in with my Adobe ID, I am asked to enter my “DATE OF BIRTH”. I thought this was a little odd, but after entering I checked back to my BC Partner Portal log in and I am able to access all my sites! This seems to be the main issue with authenticating my account.

It’s been quite the journey to sort this one. I can’t locate any info about the DW6 /BC account verification with DOB. I did find this http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1994 which has some info about a DATE OF BIRTH confirmation, but not directly relating to confirming the Adobe ID nor DW6. I did speak to the DW6 Support team in Australia via phone (this is where the suggestion came about changing my email address above and creating the new ID), but they advised they did not know anything about the connection of DW6 with BC. I also asked the Live Chat support about the account issue, which they were unable to assist and simply escalated my request, which at time of writing as resulted in an email received 4 hrs later that says to RESET PASSWORD.

In conclusion, I am not even sure I have managed this all correctly, perhaps not. Maybe someone else has some advice? Or maybe someone else has had the same issue.

thanks for reading, Megan
