auto-generate closed captioning not working

Greetings,

I've got Win 7 with Presenter Video Express 10.

I'm trying to create a video with closed caption. When I tell PVE I want to enable captions (before clicking the red Rec button), then record, then go to edit mode, I see no captions.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to create a very simple function that records clicks on 'correct answer' buttons, and when correct answers == 3, the user is taken to a label that has completion text on it. Nothing fancy, just clicking on text (or does it have to be text converted to symbol?), that increments a variable and when it ==3 it goes to a label on the timeline.

Here's the code I have... but it doesn't seem to be working...

There does not appear to be this option with Pres10 Video Express, correct?

I'm going quite mad trying to get back to the main stage from inside a symbol.

To open the symbol on a click from the main Stage...

var mySymbolObject = sym.createChildSymbol("practiceScene", "Stage");

This works, I get into the symbol

To get back to the main stage from inside the symbol on a click...

sym.getComposition().getStage().play()[0]; or sym.getComposition().getStage().play("home");

This does NOT work, I can't get out of the symbol.

Please help!

update from Edge 2.0 to 3.0 messed up drag and drop

I just updated from Edge 2.0 to 3.0 and now my previously working drag and drop doesn't work.

Sorry if this is shown elsewhere, I couldn't find it.

So here's my story...

I've got some great html interactions I've created with Edge Animate 1.0. I need to create an elearning package (at this point I'm choosing to use Cp6, but could be swayed to Storyline if Cp can't do it ). I need to import/meld these html interactions into my Cp project. How do I do this?

Or perhaps someone knows if it's possible to publish Edge Animate content as a .swf.

Unless I'm missing out with Cp7 and EA 1.5, there still seems to be a disconnect between flash-based Cp and html-based EA. These 2 need to be able to play together so we can easily create cool elearning.

Please help me fill in the gaps if I'm missing something.

Here's the scenario... I've got a draggable object that shows up where I want it the first time > I drag it > drop it on a correct droppable, and things are fine.

Here's the code I'm using from creationComplete...

BUT, if a user chooses to go back to the beginning of the drag/drop section and re-do all of the drags and drops again, the draggable object shows up (yes, I've set code to say .show(); the object that was hidden after a correct drop) on top of the droppable object, not where it originally started.

Pre-drag... question mark gets dragged to Objections

If the user goes back to the beginning of the drag/drop section... here's where the draggable object shows up on the droppable (where it got left/dropped)

It's like the drag and drop function remembers where it got dropped, is there a way to reset this?

Yes the user could hit F5 and start all over, but then they'd have to go to the very beginning, not just the beginning of a section.

can't access symbol 'under' another symbol

I have a main timeline and from the timeline I can access/show Symbol1... it has tasks, animations and button to go to Symbol2. When tasks are complete, the button shows, and user clicks the button to call/play Symbol2. Symbol2 opens/plays.

But, I can't access any of Symbol2's interactions/tasks/buttons because Symbol1 is still 'there' on top of Symbol2 even though I hid Symbol1.

This doesn't seem to be an issue when the overlapping items are elements on a main timeline... i.e. I can click hide and show 2 overlapping elements no problem, but as soon as I make the elements into symbols, overlap becomes an issue.

What is the best practice for interacting with symbols that overlap each other? Keep in mind, I do not want to completely remove Symbol1 from the DOM. I want users to be able to go back to Symbol1 from Symbol2 (toggle) if needed.

Everytime I start up DW CS6 I get an error...

At line 36 of file C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreameaver CS6\Configuration\Commands\Overlay_CssGrids_LayoutDivManipulator.js:

dom.setFluidGridDoc is not a function.

Can someone please help me solve this problem?

It seems that the scroll bar color in all ToC themes is gray and it blends in too well with its scroll track. It's not very Accessible.

Is there a way to change the color of the scroll bar so it stands out more? Can I get into the folder/dir where this scroll bar is 'kept' and replace it with something more Accessible?

How to show image from within a symbol

I've imported an img on to my stage, converted it to a symbol (and unchecked autoplay).

Then I deleted the img from the stage, the symbol w/img still remains in the Assets > Symbols section.

What I want to do now is simply have the img (that's inside the symbol) appear when I click on a button/text.

Is this possible? I've tried...

sym.getSymbol("image").show(); where "image" is the name of the symbol

but this doesn't work. What am I missing?

failure caption won't show when 2nd click or button added to slide

I have a standard training simulation generated slide with a click box that has a success and failure caption. Things work as normal; both success or failure show when appropriate.

But I want to add a 2nd click box or button to play (show) an audio clip when clicked. However, when I add either a 2nd click box (no captions, no pausing) or a button, the above-mentioned failure caption will no longer show. The success caption will, however.

premiere pro cc won't launch

W7, Adobe Premiere Pro CC

I've uninstalled my Premiere Pro CS5 and have installed PrePro CC, but when I try to launch, PrePro CC only shows the initial purple 'Adobe Creative Cloud Premiere Pro CC' launch image for about 5 secs, then the image disappears and nothing has opened/launched. I've also tried opening via 'Run as administrator', but no luck.

No error messages show at all,it just closes.

What should I do?

Found this code on one site...

Commas...no commas...add a colon...no colon...

What is the standard way for expressing CSS code in the Actions panel. Specifically, I'm looking to scale an object's x & y, but would love to know what the common language for adding CSS to Edge looks like.

Highlight current menu item whose page is displayed in an iFrame

Looking for the Holy Grail here...

So the parent page has static menu and an iframe which then loads in a specific pages as the user clicks on the menu items (which are ul li tags).

I would like to be able to highlight a menu item based on the page content being displayed in an iframe. It seems to be quite difficult to do for this style of page load using iframe method. I know it would be easier using php, but I can only use iframe (long story).

When page 1 is displayed in the iframe, I would like for the corresponding menu item to be highlighted.

I'm hoping the answer is out there somewhere as iframe has been around forever. If you would like to see my code, I'm happy to provide this.

Enjoying Edge Animate quite a bit, but am looking to make it more accessible.

1. How does one add alt text to images in Edge Animate?

2. Assuming that images can be given alt text, how does one set up the animation so one can 'tab key' (or give focus) to a given image/button?

The end goal is to allow the Windows8 screen reader, Narrator, the ability to read the alt text when an img/button is tabbed to.

stage error

Howdy,

I've opened an Edge composition that was working fine in Edge version 4&5, but after opening and rendering with v6, I'm getting a stage error in both IE9 and FF.

In addition to the error, the animation functionality has stopped working...the animation is supposed to stop after a short intro and then let the user click on buttons to activate other animations.
Instead, all of the animations play from start to finish without stopping...and then when it finally does stop, it's not possible to click on any of the buttons.

Debugging suggests the culprit is here, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

1. Can anyone explain how to fix the .js script?

2. Can any explain what I should have done in the Edge file so this stage error does not occur?

.lbi bug?...lbi file won't update pages...lbi link broke

I have an lbi file used as a menu in DW CS5 that used to work...then by some cruel chance, the lbi file would no longer update it self into the 320 pages that it is set in.

If I re paste the lbi file from Assets back into the page code, it works again.

Here's my process... it asks to update all the 320 pages in the site (which, yes, are set in Manage Sites...)

Then I 'update', but the log says nothing updated (it does show a few updates here since I did repaste the .lbi link into a few test pages)

Pages that have the original lbi file pasted in no longer have the link highlighted in the off-yellow color and so do not get updated.

Newly pasted (and original...when the link was still connected and working) lbi files do have the link highlighted in the off-yellow and therefore do get updated when I save a change to the menu.lbi file.

<b>BUT</b> I have no idea why the link failed/stopped working!!

<u><b>2 Questions</b></u>

1. Why did the link suddenly fail?

2. Is there a way to re-link the menu.lbi file, or will I have to re-paste the menu.lbi file into all 320 pages?

Is it possible to report a SCO as 'taken' but not give it a specific score?

Example...I have a training deck and an assessment deck that are packaged into 1 scorm package.

I want the LMS to report the assessment deck's score and just show that the training deck was 'taken'. At present it appears that the LMS (SumTotal) is averaging the 2 scores...again, I just want the assessment score.

After I've using elearning suite 6's multi-scorm packager (would love for this to be a part of basic Cp6, nuther topic),

I see that in the imsmanifest for the root folder (zipped) there is a <catalog> tag with the text 'Adobe Captivate Course'. Please see pic.

I don't remember seeing an opportunity to edit out this text and replace with a more accurate description. Of course I can edit it out of the imsmanifest.xml file, but I'd rather see where this can be removed/edited up front.

Can someone explain what I'm missing or why this is happening?

Cp 6 no blinking cursor in text entry box

Howdy,

Upon slide enter, when a slide has a text entry box, there would be a blinking cursor in the TEB to help alert the user that they will need to type something.

Howerver, in Cp 6 I'm not seeing a blinking/flashing cursor in a TEB like I did with Cp5.5 and b4.

Is this something I have to enable? Why is it so inconsistent?

I have a simple 7 question quiz generated from the Simulate Assessment recording. If user fails, and clicks the 'Retake Quiz' button, nothing happens.

I've tried both setting the Retake button to 'Jump to Slide...' and 'Continue'; neither works.

I have the same deck saved in Cp 5.5 and the 'Retake...' button works no problem.

alternative to aggregate for multiple modules, multiple roles

I'm setting up a training course with multiple modules and multiple user roles, but some of the users will take the same module.

Here's my vision of our track:

So...my thought is I can probably aggregate, but it seems easier to use 'Quiz > Quiz Preferences... > Quiz > Pass or Fail > If Passing Grade: Action: Open another project Project: other_project.swf'.

Then, when a Sales User passes Mod 1, Mod 2 will open and they will continue.

So yes, there will be lots of directories with repeats of the above modules in the dirs. i.e. For a Sales person there is a Sales dir/folder with the following files (and accompanying htm...scorm stuff...xml stuff): Intro.swf...mod 1.swf...mod 2.swf...mod 3.swf...links to all ungraded modules 1~6 (there would be yet a separate dir with these ungraded modules).

I've done a small Proof of Concept on my desktop and things seem to work (provided all the files are in the same dir?).
At this point I'm more comfortable with this than aggregator. Our hope is that our LMS will agree.

So what do you think? Will this work to use 'Open another project', or am I better off using aggregator?

Cp 5.5 tooltips won't convert to rollover caption

I'm recording training simulations of a particular piece of software (not sure what the software was created with, so not sure what generates the tooltips).

I've ticked the approriate checkbox...

but Cp 5.5 still won't convert all tooltips to RO captions (in pic below the Save (CTRL+S) is a tooltip that did not convert)...

Any thoughts on this for 5.5? Perhaps Cp 6 is better at identifying/converting TTs? If not, a goal for v7?

change all slides' display time en masse

I've recoreded a training and assessment simulation where the slides' timing is set to 3 sec. Post-production: I want to change ALL of the slides' timing to 2 sec.

I realize I should have done this in the Global Prefs Default prior to recording. Going in to the Prefs and trying to change the Slide Duration post-production does not work.

Is there a way to do this without having to change each slide individually?

Normal function: a user clicks in a certain area and they can either get the 'correct' or 'incorrect' box

In addition to the 'incorrect' box, I want an added highlight box to appear showing where the user should have clicked.

I'm assuming I can do with Adv Act, but don't know how.

make applied effect continue for rest of slide until user continues to next slide

I've applied a the Heart Beat effect to a highlight box and I want the box to pulse for as long as the user stays on this particular slide.

As of now, the hightlight pulses a couple times then stops. Yes the slide is only 3 sec long and I could extend the length of the slide out to, say, 5 minutes and have the effect last that long until the user moves to the next slide. And yes there's a click box that pauses the slide until the user continues.

But I'm hoping there's a way to both pause slide movement, but continue pulse effect.

By the by, I did just try extending the time of the slide to 300 sec and noticed that the heart beat effect no long pulses with the same vigor that it did at 3 secs.

set assessment to end if certain % cannot be attained

If I have an assessment simulation w/20 questions and a learner must attain 80%, is it possible to set up something that stops the assessment if the learner has no chance of passing?

Again there are 20 questions and say the learner misses the first 5, why continue if there's no chance of passing. Is there a way to set something up that says as much and re-directs them back to the training portion of the course?

IE & FF browsers rendering CSS differently

I've got a basic web page with 3 columns next to each other and I want the bottom border of the columns to be on the same horizontal line, like here in FF...

The CSS I'm using is ...Div4 is left...Div5 is middle...Div6 is right.

As you can see, Div4 hangs down lower than I want it to in IE. I notice that if I change my IE browser to 'Document Mode: IE 8 Standards' the Div4 column stays flush with the others; this won't help people in IE9, like me.

The Doctype & meta I'm using are...

set up quiz reporting with restrictions?

I've set up 3 different folders in my webserver with the necessary course htm&swf reflecting 'Email Reporting', 'Internal Server Repporting', & 'Acrobat.com Reporting' and can properly view and interact with these course files.

In the 'Internal Server' folder, I have placed the necessary .php file in with my course and was able to generated the .xml score files.

QUESTIONS

1. With 'Email' and 'Internal Server' is nothing to stop a user from taking the course again and again until they get a score they like. With setting up the email option, here they can actually just type over their score?

2. I've tried using Acrobat.com...I set up 3 different acrobat.com accounts, but at the end of the quiz when I try to login to post results, I get 'Acrobat.com Login Error',
but I'm able to login to my acrobat.com website account using the same login info. Why am I having this problem?

3. Is there a non-LMS answer to being able to provide secure reporting so that a learner can only take and report their score once and without altering it?3

one sees the link (usually in the lower left corner of browser) slaveryfootprint.org/survey/

but there's nothing after the ...survey/ directory. So I cant tell if we're about to go to a new page or if the content we're going to see is still within the current page/dir?

Is this '#where_do_you_live' a separate file? I can open the html in FF by right clicking > View Page Source or by using Firebug, and I can see in the html where these different # IDs are.

But I can't find out what the name of this page is and whether it's trulya separate page in the /survey dir.

How are they using the .../#texttext to move to the different content areas and is there a way to find out what the name of the source file in the ...survey/ dir is?

I would like to set up a sandbox using this technique and experiment with this kind of navigation.

How to stop IE9 from opening web page in the middle of browser

I'm opening a page with a video on it and for some reason, IE9 insists on opening the page so that the bottom of the video is in line with the bottom of the IE9 browser window.

It's like IE doesn't want to cut off the lower part of the video.

FF is not having this problem and opens pages with videos as it should; at the top.

This pic doesn't really do it justice, but when the page opens, the video is in line with the bottom of the browser window.

how to slide/move from one html file to another (not image slider)

I have a set of html5 docs containing a 'quiz' question. (no tracking necessary for quiz) Example...

This is one html5 file and it contains the .js for the range input slider and the .js for showing the answer after clicking the 'Test My Assumption' button.

The size is 500px X 350px.

I have 5 more questions in addition to this one.

This question(html) is viewed within a different html page (currently via iframe); I want the user to be able to move dynamically to the next question without leaving the main page.

FROM SCRATCH

If a 'next' (previous) button (or something similar) can be used to move to Question 2 of 6...etc, great. How do I set it up?

Or is there a different way to connect these html5 files onto one page dynamically?

IT'S ALREADY OUT THERE

I know there's a lot of good jQuery out there these days. Can anyone recommend a solid html5 CONTENT slider with the above functionality?

Please keep in mind, I'm not looking for an image slider. The slider needs to be able to allow a user to interact with the .js.

This is one html5 file and it contains the .js for the range input slider and the .js for showing the answer after clicking the 'Test My Assumption' button.

The size is 500px X 350px.

I have 5 more questions in addition to this one.

This question(html) is viewed within a different html page (currently via iframe); I want the user to be able to move dynamically to the next question without leaving the main page.

FROM SCRATCH

If a 'next' (previous) button (or something similar) can be used to move to Question 2 of 6...etc, great. How do I set it up?

Or is there a different way to connect these html5 files onto one page dynamically?

IT'S ALREADY OUT THERE

I know there's a lot of good jQuery out there these days. Can anyone recommend a solid html5 CONTENT slider with the above functionality?

Please keep in mind, I'm not looking for an image slider. The slider needs to be able to allow a user to interact with the .js.

decrease width/thickness of ring image

Howdy,

I would like to be able to decrease the width/thickness of the following image...

Let's say in it's current state, the image is 200X200 and the ring is 20px thick/wide, I'd like to keep the same dimention 200x200, but decrease width to 10px thick.

Is there a function w/in PS that allows one to do this.

image auto resizes depending on text (images added)

I'm looking for html5/css (javascript ok, but if it can be done without, great) funtion of an image's ability to resize based on how much text is 'inside' of the image. The image is a white shadowbox.

For example...please see below..., the first white shadowbox image sizes larger to accomodate more text than the second white shadowbox.

This must be html5 compliant.

The original coding was done with a crazy amount of tables and mix-mashing of different image parts to allow for the resizing.

Is this possible to do with divs and only one image (white shadowbox) that gets resized based on text length...somehow?

how to edit asp tag in CS5

Sorry, very new to asp.

I'm trying to edit the asp tags seen under the ASP:DataList section.

Not only can I not seem to open the tags, but when I view the page source on the web, I see what must be the text from the asp tags.

When I view the page source in Firefox firebug, I see a section having to do with aspnetForm. Is there a way to edit this aspnet form appart from dreamweaver?

Can Acrobat copy and paste form fields...check boxes with NO linking?

In the latest v. of Acrobat Pro, is it still the case when copying and pasting form fields et. al., that one has to go through and rename all newly pasted check boxes or fields so they are no longer linked??

If so....why is this the default? Why in the world would I want 10 newly pasted check boxes to check when I click on one of the original 10?! i.e. when I check the original number 1, pasted number 1 checks too? Or if I type text specific to original field 1, pasted field 1 gets the same text. If there's a benifit to this, please share.

Sorry if I sound t-ed, but I'm about to copy 50 check boxes and paste them 5 times and don't relish the idea of having to rename 250 check boxes.

Come Adobe, you can do better! You shouldn't need a neandrethal like me to point this out.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not trying to get a hyperlink to have no underline...this is re: not wanting WHITESPACE to be underlined

So I have a link that, when selected, will be bold and underlined...

Using dreamweaver, I'm trying to position to pics and 2 text <p> tags.

I want it to look like the graphic below (taken from a .pdf file), but am having a

difficult time.

I'm looking to add code inline to either the html or a css style, whichever is least messy.

I'd like to avoid tables, but if that's the easiest route, I'll do it.

browsers treating img differently

I have a website with img tabs whose position is being treated differently by the different browsers. Design was tested using Firefox4. As you can see Firefox4 gets it right...IE9 scrunches the tabs down...Opera creates white space under the img tabs (and Opera doesn't seem to pick up the border-radius, but I'm not so worried about that yet):

Look for the img tabs labled 'Trail Stats' and 'Amenities'.

insert a tab outside of main table

The page is organized with the following table format......

How/where can I insert code (which I already have) so this extra tab is OUTSIDE the confines of this table? Or is there a way to set the tab outside the table by placing it within this table?

I'm fairly comfortable w/CSS, but setting-up/organizing the tables/rows/cells in HTML is more challenging.
