Director 12 limitations for iOS

I can't find the list we had of incompatibilities between Director and iOS. They must have been deleted in the discussions update. Sheesh.

Fonts don't look the same and can be VERY thin on iOS. Also they look a mess if Matte inked.

Inks other than Copy and Matte don't seem to work though I haven't tried them all. Background Transparent, NotCopy, the important ones don't.

Primitives are thinner on iOS. Try 2 rounded rectangles with sides just touching in Director. On IOS they'll be a good 4 pixels apart.

Director 12.0.9r149 update to app - anyone?

I just updated to Director 12.0.9r149 (OS X) and now my iPad app crashes.

It's not iOS 7.1.1 as an older version of the app works fine.

I put an alert into a prepareMovie handler and it doesn't get to it so it can't be my code which was working perfectly (cough) before the update.

Anyone else having problems since the update? Also: please tell me if YOU'RE NOT!

iOS performance

Maybe it's because I am testing on an iPad 2 but there seems to be a huge difference in performance between my newish iMac and the iPad.

I have designed my own scrolling system so I can do some smart list highlighting.

Not only is it WAY slower on the iPad but the speed deteriorates.

Anyone else struck this?

iOS keyboard text entry - user must close keyboard

I am trying to enter text in my iOS app. Should be simple - I mean this is basic stuff.

You click in an editable text member, the iOS keyboard pops up, you type, hit a button to save it and your code grabs the text and puts it where it is needed. Right?

WRONG!

If the user doesn't close the keyboard the text entry text is not copied into the text member, so your button code copies the unaltered text.

I've tried to use:

member("new set name").editable = 0

and

_movie.keyboardFocusSprite = 0

and both

but it still doesn't connect the iOS text entry object to the text member.

Has anyone got a solution other than waiting for Adobe to provide another 'hot fix'?

selecting text in Shockwave

I have two editable text members in a shockwave document which I can copy and paste between however the text selection doesn't work, it's quite random what you're going to get. Anyone know why? Just a bug?

Why hasn't Adobe put a note on their Director updates page to notify users that it doesn't support Director 12 and that they must use the Adobe Application Manager?

I wasted weeks checking for updates and working around a bug because my AAM wasn't working since 10.9 and so I failed to get the hot fixes that had solved the bug.

Seems like basic customer commuications.

If you're going to change the way things work, or if you know people are having a problem that you have a solution for then why not let us know?

why is the font different weight in iOS?

I am using an iOS font and yet it's thin and badly rendered until I edit the text field and then it appears bolder than it should appear.

I've been using Helvetica Neue and it looks thin on my iPad and the line size is shorter than what I have set.

Anyone else have this problem, and if so, have they found a solution?

If not please reply so I know it's just me.

I tried pre-rendering text but it crashes the app on iOS. (bug alert)

Director 12 won't publish an iOS app

It was working fine (if lots of bugs appearing on the iPad) and then the certificate ran out.

I updated the keychain cert and the provisioning file and now it won't publish the .ipa file.

Anyone struck this?

Alpha channel video (key) in Director

Hi all

Just posting it here because when I forget how I did it (and I will) I'll look here - and it might help someone.

Import an Alpha channeled FLV saved as an SWF.

For example I have chroma key video between graphics in Flash.
The secret is the Animation codec.

It's a bit tricky so I have all the Mac steps here:
