How do I resolve an Application Crash in PhotoElements 12 running on Windows 7

Hi, I am working away from home so do not have access to the installation CD's and just cannot open Photoshop Elements which just keeps coming up with a screen that says Troubleshoot and Close OR Close. Troubleshooting doesn't work!! And I am desperately trying to "improve" a very old photo that I've copied to send for use at a Funeral... Argh!!!!!.
