Help with Groups and Effects

I'm still fairly new to Illustrator so even when I tried to Google for my solution I didn't know how to word it properly so I though you guys would be able to help me.

So, basicaly I'n trying to keep my "Flag" effect applied to the ribbon/banner but i want only the top of it to be above the circle. However, if try to take the top selected layers out of the group to place on top of the circle, the "Flag" effect

resets or if I try putting the cicle in the group it gets the effect applied on to it, which I don't want. Only way I can think of doing it is with a clipping mask but it doesnt look so great :/

Colour Picker for Gradient Tool

Recently, I started using Adobe Illustrator and watched many tutorials for the basics of it (coming from Photoshop) but one thing that I'm not too comfortable with is the gradient tool in Illustrator compared to the one in Photoshop.

I keep reading that the only way to adjust the colours is to either use the colours in the swatches or the mini colour slider but is there a way to choose the colours like you can in Photoshop? (Screenshot attached to show what I mean)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Photoshop 3D "Bug"

I dont know if this is just me but whenever i try to create and work with a 3D object in Photoshop, this black square seems to pop up for no apparent reason and its really bugging me [mainly because it sometimes blocks my view of the perspective] is there a way to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help with Layer Modes

Well...im new here at photoshop so i dont know if im asking in the right place or not but i really need help with something to do with layers

I have one layer [the basic bottom layer] and an image that ive already cropped out and colour corrected that i wanted to put over my bottom layer without losing any texture, like the effect where you have your layer/brush mode on the "colour" setting and you colour over something and its basically a colour replacement...Seeing that technique doesnt work too well with an image, i would greatly appreciate any help :3
