LocalConnection

Hi,

I was just trying a local connection for the first time and I am not having any luck. The LocalConnection sample states LocalConnection.air app must be run but I assume that functionality is now part of the SDK Navigator via Local Server. I have the local server running and listening.

When I first launched the sample app it never reached creation complete since none of the UI containers rendered. I ran a debug and the LocalAuthenticator and the ConnectSessionContainer were being instantiated. When I try to re-run the app it throws a “Error #2802: Connect failed because the object is already connected.”.

I upgraded the SDK on Monday and made the applicable changes for the rtc namespace.

What am I doing wrong (or not doing)?

ADL and garbage collection

Hi,

I am doing simplisitic monitoring of an AIR application memory consumption using Windows resource monitor. I have compared numbers for a release build (running packaged AIR application) versus numbers for the dev build (launched using command-line ADL). As a navigate through the application in a preset pattern, the numbers for the ADL launch are relatively and consistently smaller, both in terms of the delta between actions and the cumulative load of the application.

Is ADL doing extra-curricular GC?

Flash Builder 4.5, Parsley 2.4 and profiling crashing

Hi,

I have been having a lot of grief with FB 4.5 profiler failing on a socket connection where I am profiling an app that uses Parsley 2.4. Initially I thought the problem was related to some characterisitic of the application and/or the machine I am profiling from. However, I can across a bug opened on the Parsley 2.4 core.

Debug Overhead and Profiling

I am profiling a large AIR application (Flash Builder 4.5, Flex SDK 4.5.1, AIR 3.1).

How much impact does the debug version of the application have on the profilers performance and memory snapshots?

Is there any rule of thumb - 1%, 5%, 10%,....or is it application dependent?

Loading external HTML with global context attributes

I am trying to use Google Finance to load a stock quote in an HTML tile.

In the Mosaic 9.5 samples the tile uri is http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=${application.symbol}. This does not load the iframe in my CAF project.

In fact, I tried configuring my .cxml as

http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=ADBE

http://www.google.com/finance?q=ADBE

http://www.google.com/finance

but none of these uri’s loads the iframe. The only uri that does load successfully is

http://www.google.com

What am I missing?

Peformance issue rendering Arabic in an Item Renderer

Background

- Flash Player 10.2.152.32

- SDK 4.5.0.19786

- text being displayed in Arabic

- DataGrid has 12 columns and displays less than 20,000 rows

- using RichTextEditor on a TextArea within an item renderer

Performance Problem

- DataGrid population is done is an acceptable timeframe (consistantly populated in less than 10 seconds)

- the scrollbar hangs for several seconds when you click on it and drag

- "you can’t scroll through the fields at all with any reasonable performance"

Testing Done

- switching to the Spark component seems to make it worse

- limiting the number of rows of data doesn’t help the performance

- removing all code within the item renderer (applying a blank item renderer) doesn’t help the performance

- removing the item renderer makes the scroll bars work perfectly (it fixes the problem)

Issue

- need the item renderer for application functionality

Are there any known problems with FTE rendering Arabic?
