ColdFusion 11 Fails on Automatic Startup

So I've installed the 64 bit CF 11 Developers Edition on a Windows 7 machine, working with IIS, What I'm seeing is that when I have CF set to start automatically in the Windows Service Manager, the CF application service fails. In the Window System Event log I see this error.

"The ColdFusion 11 Application Server service terminated with service-specific error The system cannot find the file specified."

In the CF log I see this.

"Either the server is already running or some other application is using the AJP port 8014"

When this happens, I somehow lose my ability to access the internet, though I appear to be connecting to my router without an issue. I've tried looking for port 8014 in the Windows Resource Monitor and I don't see it being used there by anything. If I change the CF services so that they don't start automatically, then boot up, log in, and start them manually, then everything works fine.

Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Coldfusion 10 64 bit developers edition

I have a new 64bit laptop that I plan to use for developing. I am working on a project that uses CF 10. I'd really like to get a copy of the 64 bit CF 10 so I can install the developer version on my laptop. Is there any way to get one? I have a copy of the 32 bit installer on my current laptop, but I don't really want to install that version.

Spreadsheet formatting gets messed up when using update to add additional sheets

Has anyone had issues with cfspreadsheet where a sheet has formatting issues when the sheet is added as a additional sheet using the update action, while the same sheet looks fine when the sheet is the first or only sheet added using the write action?

I am using CF 10.

Coldfusion Internal Web Site Overriding IIS Web Site

We have CF 10 Enterprise installed on Window Server 2008 R2, using IIS with multiple web sites defined. These are set up in IIS in the standard way of mapping a domain name to an IP address. The sites are pointed to various directories on the D drive and CF is installed on the C drive. What is happening is that occasionally a call to a CFM script will error out, and in the CF log it shows that the file wasn't found because CF was looking for it in C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\wwwroot instead of in the correct directory on the D drive. I did some testing by adding an index.cfm to C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\wwwroot and I found that file overrides the index.cfm in the root of the site in IIS. How can I get this resolved so that the CF web site is not interfering with my IIS web sites?

How to update the default navigator folder display

When I open CF Builder there are certain folders in the Navigator that are expanded and others that aren't. I have no idea how it got set up with those particular folders expanded. I'd like to change which folders are expanded when CF Builder is opened, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to add a watermark to a PDF that I generated using cfdocument on my local box with CF 9 developer's edition. I'm not seeing the watermark and I'm wondering if it just won't show in a PDF created with the developer's edition, because CF puts it's own watermark there "Adobe ColdFusion Developer/Trial Edition Not for Production Use". Does anyone know if that's the case? My script seems to be working without any errors but I don't see the watermark image.

I bought CF Builder back on 8/31. Installed it and I'm fairly certain I entered the serial number for it. But now it just told me that my trial period has expired and it is in limited-use mode. When I select the registration option from the Help menu, nothing happens. What's going on here?

CF 9 Standard CFThread Limits

In the CF Admin for Maximum number of threads available for CFTHREAD:

"The maximum number of threads created by CFTHREAD that will be run concurrently. Threads created by CFTHREAD in excess of this are queued. On Standard Edition, the maximum limit is 10."

In the PDF showing a comparison of various versions of CF:

"CFTHREAD is limited to two additional spawned threads in Standard edition."

It doesn't seem like both those statements can be correct. Can someone explain how the thread limit actually works in the Standard Edition?

cfcontent IIS and particular mime types

I have an application this is using flowplayer to play various video files. The video files are passed to flowplayer using a cfm script with the cfcontent tag. What I am finding is that for some file types this process fails; the player hangs and the video doesn't play. An example file type is mp4. The problem is specific to our server running IIS 6. On my local box I have Apache installed and the script works fine for mp4 files. I have the mp4 mime type defined in IIS 6 as "video/mp4" and that is what I use in the type attribute of the cfcontent tag. (I've also tried "video/mpeg" without success.) If I change my process so that I pass the file directly to flowplayer then it plays fine on IIS 6. Here is the basic code I have for providing the file.

I've tried various combinations of the cfheader tags without having any effect. If anyone has some suggestions or has encountered something similar, I'll take whatever help I can get.

cfdocument with cfpdfform - odd behavior

I'm trying to create a pdf that display some content from HTML and then includes a pdf form file, and I am experiencing two odd things:

1. The content in the cfdocumentsection above the cfpdfform tag does not show up in the pdf. All I see is the pdf form.

2. If I try to save the cfdocument using the filename attribute, it doesn't work. The file is not created and the pdf form displays in the browser. If I remove the cfpdfform tag, then the file is created and I see the content from the cfdocumentsection in the result.

Anyone have any ideas what is going wrong? The code looks like this:

.NET init method when there are multiple constructors

So I am trying to work with some .NET objects. I've run into a situation where I can create the object but I'm getting an error when I call the init method:

"Unable to find a constructor for class Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.Tokens.BinarySecurityToken that accepts parameters of type ( java.lang.String, java.lang.String )"

(I'm assuming that the "java.lang.String" referenced in the message is just from CF and that the .NET object is not getting an actual java.lang.String passed to it. And I've also gotten the error passing a .NET object as the init argument.)

This particular object has a number of constructor methods that take different arguments. So I guess I'm wondering if there's some issue with init not finding the proper constructor, and if so, what I can do about it. Anyone had any experience like this?

.NET Class not found in the specified assembly list error

I am trying to access some .NET objects and I keep getting the error "Class System.Web.Services.WebService not found in the specified assembly list." I am able to access an object in the .NET core DLL so my .NET setup seems ok. I've tried a number of assembly list variations in the CreateObject call. I've also tried adding assembies to the JNBDotNetSide.exe.config file. But I continue to get the error. I've done some googling but haven't found anything that has helped...

First off, I am working with ColdFusion 8. I am calling a web service method with an argument with the WSDL definition:

According to the documentation: "If you are invoking a web service, you can omit a parameter by setting the omit attribute to "yes". If the WSDL specifies that the argument is nillable, ColdFusion MX sets the associated argument to null. If the WSDL specifies minoccurs=0, ColdFusion MX omits the argument from the WSDL."

My SOAP request XML contains: <billing_details xsi:nil="true"/>

From my reading of the documentation, that element shouldn't be there. Can anyone clarify if that is correct?

CFC Size - When is it too large?

I was wondering if anyone had any insight or opinion on when a CFC is getting too large for its own good. We have a pretty complex application and have some CFCs with ove 12,000 lines of code and are about 500 KB in size. I know the code gets converted to java classes and it sort of looks like CF creates a separate class for each function, so maybe the overall size of the CFC isn't that big an issue. But I was wondering what someone more knowledgable than I would say.

StructGet vs. Evaluate - Getting different results

I'm working on a project that involves using PDF forms and I am trying to dynamically grab an element in the pdf form. I use StructFindKey to find the form element. Then I tried using StructGet to specifically grab the element using the path provided by StructFindKey. But what I'm seeing is that StructGet isn't finding the element whereas if I use Evaluate I do get the element. Instead StructGet is essentially overwriting the element and creating a new empty structure for its value. (The element is an array of values, so it's easy to see that StructGet is replacing it.) This is using CF 8.

Am I just misunderstanding what StructGet does?
