Why are SOME hyperlink underlines BOLD?

My original file is in MS Word 2010. When I generate it to PDF (using Word's Acrobat Create PDF plug-in; I have Acrobat X Pro), I've noticed that it turns SOME of my hyperlink underlines BOLD. This is not my desired effect...I'm not sure why it is doing this. It looks perfectly fine in MS Word. But, it's pretty noticable throughout the PDF document; some hyperlinks have BOLD underlining and some do not. I DO NOT want this BOLD underlining. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this behavior?

Thank you,

TabbyW

Resizing the Topic Pane - RH8

Numbered List and Bullet Problems in RH8

*** My apologies to anyone who saw this question on a different thread. I mistakenly posted this on a thread with an answered question and decided that noone would probably see it. ***

Hi!

I'm having similar list problems that folks have discussed in other threads, but I think I'm having slightly different results. I've reviewed Peter Grainge's Web site for help and I just can't figure out why my numbers (or bullets) themselves have reverted to the (none) or Default paragraph formatting, leaving the list text in their correct font (so basically, my numbers look wacky and my bullet styles are being ignored).

I just migrated from RH7 (which I kinda loved already) to RH8. I initially used the Numbering button to create my numbered lists, but I created a special bullet style, because I'm using a special bullet graphic. All I need is a simple numbered list...I'm not doing anything fancy with embedded numbering, at least not in many of my topics.

So, here's what I'm encountering:

Bullets look fine in Design mode and in Preview mode...but when I generate WebHelp, my bullets turn to the standard black dot bullet?!?! What is this? It's totally defined properly if I do a Format -->List-->Bullets and Numbering. I can see that it's calling the correct graphic.

Sometimes, my custom bullets are NOT displaying correctly in Design mode, but they DO look fine in Preview mode. This is really crazy! However, it is still displaying incorrectly in the generated WebHelp.

How do I update a bullet graphic when I edit its style now? When I open the Styles dialog and click the Format button at the bottom, what happened to the option for "Bullets and Numbering"? This is how I initially created the style in RH7 and this option is now missing in RH8...don't understand why.

I decided to abandon using the Numbering button and create my own numbering style in RH8. Now, everything looks great, but if I need to add a second numbered list in the same topic, it does not reset back to 1, even when I try resetting the number back to 1; RH8 is ignoring my request. In fact, it removes the numbering of the first step, and continues the numbering from the previous numbered list for the 2nd list entry. This always worked perfectly fine in RH7.

I gave up using my numbering style and attempted to use the Multi-level list button, which is not what I really need. I just need a simple list. But anyways, I used the "multiNumber" template and was able to generate a nice simple numbered list...but I need the list to be indented! Once I clicked the right indent, I got "1.1," which is so NOT what I need. There doesn't seem to be any way to indent the first level numbering...or at least I cannot figure it out.

I'm just at a lost. Can someone help...please!! I'm at my wits end and having trouble getting my latest doc out the door.

I'm using RoboHelp HTML.

Thank you!!! You guys are always so helpful.

Tabby W.

I opened my RH7 project in RH8 for the first time, and received error messages complaining of file names having illegal characters and I am unable to import ANYTHING (Master pages, images, HTML files, etc.) because the items have illegal characters.

Let me say that I've never had problems like this using RH7, in fact, I believe I initially created the project using RH6. In any case, I read a similar thread on this forum and decided that perhaps my Project Title and Project Name are invalid, since they both have apostrophes ("XX YY User's Guide"). So, I renamed them (using RH8, of course) to "XX YY User Guide" and now, things are VERY SCREWED UP. I've attached the dialog box that I now receive, it's cycling through every single topic in my project (~50 topics), and I'm getting tired of clicking OK.

Is there any quick fix for this problem, or do I need to just start anew?

Using: RH8, Windows XP.

Images/Topics/Master Pages: Names have underscores, but I believe those are legal; never had an issue before migrating to RH8.
Can I edit the HTML version of DHTML text?

Hello,

I'm having a formatting issue with my drop-down hotspot text that I cannot edit in Design mode. Let me explain my problem:

I have a bulleted list, 3 bullets, each bullet is a hotspot. Within the hotspot text box, I have numbered procedures in all 3 cases. However, when I view my page (using the eye glasses icon), my numbers have turned into bullets! I don't want this -- I want my numbered procedures in the hotspot text to remain numbered, but since I cannot see the problem in the hotspot text box, I cannot change it. Sometimes, when editing topic text, you can jump to the HTML to fix <span> issues (font changes, spacing. etc.). But, I cannot seem to edit the hotspot text in the same way. Does it reside in a different file from the topic? It's an odd problem...I think this is the first time I'm seeing it.

Thank you very much for your help!

TabbyW

Is it possible to import an HTML into RoboHelp?

Hello,

I figured instead of importing in an Excel spreadsheet (since
not all users would have MS Office and may not want to download any
viewer apps) that maybe I could save it as an HTM file (as Excel
allows multiple or single HTML file generation) and then import
that HTM file into my project. I've done the importing...only
problem is that it does not appear on my topics list. So, I created
a new topic for it, and attempted to cut and paste the code
generated from the Excel transformation into the new topic, but
this has gone horribly wrong.

Is there any way to display this Excel-generated HTML file
into my project? In case it matters, I am using RH7 and MS Office
2003. Also, the Excel file has 10 worksheets.
WebHelp's search functionality not working properly

Hi...I can really use some help!!

I used RH7 to generate WebHelp. In the WebHelp, I click the
Search button, enter a term in the search box; then click Go. I
receive a listing of the topics in which my term appears. So far,
all is fine.

However, when I click a topic to see where my highlighted
terms appear, I'm getting a weird browser error in IE and Firefox
stating that the WebHelp cannot find the topic. In Safari, I don't
receive an error, but the browser just does not go anywhere at all.
How can this be? The WebHelp came up with the topics!!

Here's an example of the error msg in IE: "Cannot find file
///C:/AP%Doc%Projects/Photo%Tools/Photog%Manager%User. Make sure
the path is correct."

Here's an example of the error message in Firefox: "File not
found. Firefox can't find the file at /C:/AP Doc Projects/Photo
Tools/Photog Manager User. Make sure the path or Internet address
is correct."

In both cases, the directory path it provides me with is 2
levels UP...the main project file directory to be exact. How did
this happen? Why is the WebHelp search function pointing to my main
project directory? I've already checked the single-source
directory, and it is pointing to the correct, WebHelp directory.

Please...can someone help??

Thanks!

JIT debugging error/RoboHelp crashing when importing a SWF

Hello team,

I’m wondering if anyone might understand this error
message I get each time I
import the accompanying page to a SWF file into my RoboHelp
project. The import
action seems to crash RoboHelp, and gives me the JIT
debugging error found
[L=here (see the 1st error) ].

I successfully imported 2 other Flash pages in, but the SWFs
for those pages
are significantly smaller (1 MEG vs. 8 MEG). I’m hoping
that RoboHelp does not
have a file size limitation for the tutorials.

If you can decipher this error, I would very much appreciate
it...or if you have
other ideas for how I can incorporate this tutorial into my
project, please let
me know. Please feel free to pass this message on to whoever
might be able
to help me.

Thanks so much!!

Having trouble inserting a Flash file into a topic

Help!!

I am inserting multimedia into my WebHelp files for the first
time. I've received 3 SWF files w/ accompanying HTML files.
Whenever I import the HTML files into my project, RoboHelp
carshes. When I insert the SWF alone into my topic, RoboHelp
crashes. However, when I play each of them separately, they play
fine. I'm completely baffled. I've even tried importing the SWF and
HTML into other programs, and they work fine there...but not in
RoboHelp! I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me?

Not sure if the file size matters, but one is 8MEGs, the
other two are 1MG. All are crashing RoboHelp.

Thank you!!
