CRM Resources

Hi,

I am relatively new to BC and have been trying to get my head around the CRM feature, in particular the use of customer vs company or customer and company.

I have looked through a number of resources online and can see how these records are created, relationships created etc, however, am still not clear on the best approach.

Often you will deal with a person (customer) who may be an owner of one or more companies.

When recording tasks, opportunities etc sometimes these may relate specifically to the customer whereas on other occasions it may be more appropriate to be recorded under the company (this may become important if the business were sold and you continue to work with the new owner - if all records for the company were linked to the previous owner the history would be lost)

I have a number of other areas where I am not clear exactly clear how all records are neatly tied together e.g multiple contacts from one company etc.

As mentioned I have looked at a number of tutorials online but nothing I have found covers the link between customer/company records particularly well (apart from that a relationship can be created - which I have done on a test). If anyone knows of other resources that would be useful that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Muse InBrowser Editing vs BC InContext Editing (ICE)

Hi all,

I have a Muse site that is hosted via the BC E-commerce plan. The site includes a BC shopping cart.

Initially my client was able to login and edit the site using InBrowser Editing.

Over time and a few weeks of edits the site is no longer editable.

I'm reading that I need to enable the beta feature (ICE) in Business Catalyst and add editable region tags etc to anything I will allow the client to edit.

Why do I need to do this when the Muse InBrowser editing was covering that in the beginning, very nicely too.

Can anyone please clarify why this is the case or what has occured that has sent this ball rolling?

Not a good look to lose this neat bit of functionality.

I had also read that a fix was on its way with the next Muse update?

I wondered about rolling back in BC or perhaps reloading an old version of the site, as the edits are minor and I can check of snap shots.

What do you think?

If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks so much
