Need JScript fix: Alert box cancel button not working!

Hello all,

My form has an option for the user to delete subforms/records as needed. Acrobat does allow for Undo- so if my user accidentally clicks "delete", they're stuck.

I added an alert box to ask "Are you sure...", with "yes" and "cancel" buttons. But when I click the cancel button, it deletes anyway!

Here is the script I'm using:

Is it possible to import data into a Reader Extended PDF created in Livecycle?

Hi there,

I make a lot of Reader Extended forms for my company. When I issue form updates, sometimes staff have to re-copy or re-type records into forms with repeating subforms. I'd like to be able to jumpstart their process by importing from an old, filled-out form, into my new updated form.

I've found I can do this by making an XML data file of the data from the old form, but I can't import into an Extended from using Adobe Reader. Most of our staff don't have Acrobat, so they aren't able to save data into non-extended forms.

Is this clear, what I'm asking? Import XML data into Reader Extended form.

Is it possible to add non-contiguous instances of a subform

Hi there,

Our staff may fill out a form with say, 10 repeated subforms ("add instance"), then need to go back and add another instance, not after record 10, but after record 3. Or they may need to add records in alpha order.

How can I set up the "Add Record" button so that the instance is added at that point in the form, rather than at the very end of the records?

Am I explaining this clearly? They need to go back and add an instance in between other existing instances...

Acrobat X keeps crashing in Edit Forms mode

Hi!

I use Acrobat primarily to edit forms I made before I started using LiveCycle. I have recently used the adobe cleaner and reinstalled all of CS.5 (because I couldn't figure out how to uninstall Acrobat alone), I am on Windows XP 64 bit--- Acrobat stopped crashing for a few days after the reinstall, now it's crashing when I try to edit form fields. I have a deadline to meet for some form edits... please help?

Formcalc: Calculate number of days between dates

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a field that will show the number of days between a user-entered date and a current/today's date field.

I tried to adapt a script from another post, but I'm not getting it to work.

form1.sf1.CCSub.CCGroup.#subform[0].DateField2::exit - (FormCalc, client)

form1.sf1.CCSub.CCGroup.#subform[0].NumericField2.rawValue = Date2Num(DateField1, "MM-DD-YY") - Date2Num(DateField2, "MM-DD-YY")

Can I create a field that calculates number of days from a date field?

Hi all,

I need a field that will calculate the number of days elapsed whatever date is entered into the date field, and update that number of days based on the calendar/computer calendar date. Does that make sense?

I set up the form so that my boss can add or subtract clients from the list. Each client needs to have its own "Days since added to the list" number. Sorta like a little aging report.

Is this possible?

How much design control can you have with FormsCentral?

Hi there,

Our company's forms have a defined look, initially created in LiveCycle. I am willing to remake every last one of our many forms in order to get them online and mobile-compatible, but I'm concerned about maintaining our look. It isn't complicated, but I'd like to use our colors, logo, etc.

Can someone recommend documentation or a set of samples that will show me what the design parameters are for FormsCentral?

No import PDF from LiveCycle?

Hi there!

I used to build my forms with Acrobat, then found LiveCycle was more functional for creating large numbers of multi-page branded forms. It's much more flexible when forms need to be changed or updated.

More recently, I have found that Acrobat is crashing whenever I try to edit my Acrobat-made forms. My LiveCycle forms are the only ones that remain editable. I've started remaking all my Acrobat forms with LiveCycle, as I have been unable to find a fix or customer support for Acrobat X.

I had hoped to start using FormsCentral since I can see that PDF forms are obsolete, and eventually all our office's forms need to function as online forms.

Now I find that FormsCentral doesn't allow you to import existing PDFs that were built with LiveCycle/XFA.

Is this really true?

Those of us who bought into LiveCycle, learned it, and started using it for all our forms are left out in the cold when it comes to Adobe's solutions for getting our forms online?

My form field highlight color is being changed on all my forms. Preferences doesn't fix the problem

Hi! I've seen this question asked before (it was posted in 2010), but the issue wasn't completely answered. All of a sudden, the forms I made in Acrobat are opening with dark gray field highlights: not only on my computer, but on other computers in the office as well. The dark gray highlight makes the text unreadable. When I go into preferences to check the field highlight color, it shows as the usual light blue. When I change it to some other light color to test it, the change only works until I restart my computer.

I'm on windows 7, by the way....

Is it possible to create a form with Livecycle that a user in Adobe Reader can import data into?

I made a form, then found out that much of the data that needs to be filled out by our data entry personnel (in Adobe Reader) already exists in an Excel file. Is there a way I can set up this form so that my coworkers can import specific records from the Excel file and save themselves time?

I noticed that when I open the Reader-Enabled version of the file that the "Import Data" command under "Extensions" is dimmed out. So even if I could successfully create an XML file it looks like we couldn't import, even to a Reader-Enabled PDF form. Why is that?

Submit via email: Error

Hi- Been trying to make a functioning "Submit via email" button. I used the Form rather than the Submit buttin in Livecycle, chose PDF in the Object menu, and put my list of email addresses in there. This is for inter-office use only, we all use Outlook. I have saved my Livecycle form as Reader-Enabled. Our employees will be filling the form in Adobe Reader, then I would like them to be able to just click a button on the form to email the filled PDF to everyone else in the company (all the addresses in the Object palette field).

I think it worked once when I tested it in Livecycle Preview. Now, testing it in both Acrobat and Reader, absolutely nothing happens.

How on earth can I get this to work?

Floating Fields not working

Hi! I have made a number of forms with floating fields before- they all fill in just fine. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with this one, though.

Populate with initial from first name field ?

Hi! I'm only a graphics person, and I'm just beginning with simple scripting. I'm trying to pull just the first initial from the PatientName_First field, and have it populate the PatientName_Initial field in the master page so that the patient's initial will show up on each page of the form.

Please don't die laughing at my attempt to Frankenstein a script from another form into this one, I really know nothing yet, but I'm trying to learn. I haven't yet been able to make a working JavaScript- had more success with FormCalc.

I don't know if this is an issue, but the form has to remain Static. iPad can't read Dynamic forms yet, and I have to be iPad-compatible.

Newbie problems: repeating fields running off page, formcalc on repeating columns

Happy Tuesday.

I'm having multiple problems with my form- I'd like to attach/upload it but I haven't been able to figure out how.

1) I have a set of repeating fields (add instance of subform comprised of two fields) that repeat left to right across the page just fine, but when they reach the right margin they don't wrap to the next line, they just run right out of the subform and off of the page. How do I corral them to stay inside the lines?

2) In another area of the form, I have a repeating row/table. At the bottom of each column, in the footer, I need to have the sum/total of the columns above it. I have made it work in just one column with Formcalc:

$ = Sum(Row1[*].Summary_AmtBilled)

but in subsequent columns the formula's not working. I have set the object>value type to calculated/read only for all of them.

3) Lastly, how do you set the tab order for a repeating row so that the user can just tab along the rows as they add? In my add instance repeating row, the next row adds on exit but the tab skips it and goes to the footer.

I have to add that I am woefully ignorant still of Javascript and Formcalc. I'm just a graphic designer, and very very new at interactivity and data things.

Need to import data from Excel file

Hi!

Is there any way that my form users (in Reader) can bring data records from an Excel or .csv file into the form I built in Livecycle? Sort of like the way you can do a mail merge with a .csv file? I had already built the form when IU found out that the data is already contained in an Excel spreadsheet and I'd like to save our data entry personnel from duplicating their efforts.

Livecycle Doesn't Recognize .eps Files

Can anyone tell me how to get Livecycle to recognize an eps file? The help system says that you can embed eps images, but it doesn't actually work at all. I want to use a vector file for our company logo- rasterized logos look nasty.
