Global update on paragraph tag overrides?

I need to convert a large doc from Word to FM11. I have imported it and am ready to start cleaning it up, but it needs a lot of retagging because all of the styles/tags aren't the same. Global update isn't working, and I think it's because all the tags are identified as overrides [they have an *]. Is there a way out of retagging these manually?

style guide for touch UI and user interactions?

This request isn't specific to FrameMaker but I thought it would be a good place to ask.

I've been looking for a style guide to use when documenting touch devices—a guide similar to the old Microsoft guide for the Windows UI. Our group has not been consistent documenting these applications or interactions. Some touch, some tap; some stretch, some expand. Googling hasn't helped: Android, Windows, and iOS documentation and applications aren't consistent among or within themselves, either. We're writing for applications on all these platforms.

If your company has developed or found a guide and you don't mind sharing it, I'd love to see it!

colored row separators

I need to build a template with row separators that are blue. I can do this in the table Custom Ruling and Shading dialog for each individual table, but can't figure out how to get this property into the template for all tables. Is it even possible?

table: disappearing row separators

I have a table that breaks across several pages. On the last two pages only, the rule/separator at the top of the first row does not display. All other pages are OK. All the content that's included in the affected rows is there--just no border at the top.

PDF output with conditional text

I need to create two PDFs from my project, each displaying a different conditional build expression, but I can't figure out how to do it. Selecting PDF Output doesn't show options like, for example, WebHelp does, unless I've missed something in the setup. Is this possible? My reviewers want to review hardcopies although I've tried to convince them that they should look at it as it will be displayed online.

Heading level tag in mini-TOC

Is there a way to change the tags used in the mini-TOC for TC3? My docs are linked from FrameMaker and they don't use Heading 1, Heading 2, etc, so this handy tool is not working for me. Thanks for any help!

RH crash when generating topics

I've linked my book in RH successfully, but every time I try to generate the topics, RH crashes. The book is about 160 MB including graphics, 11 chapters and 3 appendixes. My system is TC3, Windows 7, 8 GB RAM. Thanks for any help!

Is there a Robohelp setting I can change so that, by default, external links in WebHelp open in a new tab or browser?

I know FM and have re-learned RH pretty well over the past few weeks, but the integration of the two is driving me crazy. I've watched the videos on Adobe TV, read the User's Guides, taken Lynda.com lessons, and looked for specifics in these and other forums/groups/blogs, but I'm using up a lot of time experimenting to get the results that I need. I find myself trying this and trying that to see what happens, posting questions and problems, and often getting inconsistent results and lots of crashes.

Is any actual training for TCS available?

apply footer to topics without using master page

Single-sourcing: Deleted content in FM source not reflected in RH update

I discovered today that, when I delete content in my linked FM source, the same content is not deleted or even marked as 'changed' or anything in the RH update!

In one situation, I deleted an entire chapter but the topic wasn't deleted.
In another, I deleted a section of a chapter, but the section wasn't deleted from the topic. In both cases, I saved the changes in FM before running the update in RH.

Is this a known but undocumented feature? Did I miss a setting somewhere? Is there a fix or update?

It pretty much invalidates the whole purpose of 'linking and updating.'

FM -> HTML [graphics] problem?

I'm converting FM source to HTML, and everything is going remarkably well [!] except for one thing: graphics within list-type items. A graphic in the middle of body text is no problem, but with ordered and unordered lists and table text, the line breaks after the graphic and the following text loses its formatting [see graphic below]. We use this construction quite a bit in our documents, so it's a big issue.

Yes, I know that Save As is not the best choice for rendering HTML, but it's my only option at this point. I also don't have the option of applying a custom CSS to the doc; it's Save As, make a few modifications for translation, and go! I hope that will change in the [near] future.

I guess I need to know whether there's a fix for this or not. If there isn't, at least I'll be able to stop spending time trying to figure it out! It's unstructured FM10 [TC3] on Windows 7.
