I have hundreds of pages .html in my local folder and I want to convert them to .php.

Is there any way to do this in a single shot instead of going to replace every ".html" with ".php"

Not showing a placeholder in the records display

Hi There!

Please look at this page:

For now we can see the display of the Cap Est images in the Hotels records.

There will be sometimes where we'll see 2 pictures instead of 3, and sometimes not at all because some hotels don't have pictures.

If I leave my script this way, I will see a placeholder image for empty records images.

What I am trying to accomplish is not having the placeholder when I don't have any picture in the database for that record.

How do I accomplish that?

PHP Form Validation and Radio Group

Hi David,

I'm trying to set the initial state of a radio group to none.

Please look at the file http://ecopethandbags.com/contact.php. The initial state is set to "No"

In Dreamweaver, I've set the initial state to "Unchecked"

I don't understand the code for the radio buttons in my file (see attachment).

What I am trying to do is to have the radio group initially unchecked but required.

I have 2 questions:

1) - How can I control the initial status of the radio group when I use the PHP form validation?

2) - How can I set the validation so, when one of the radio buttons is not checked by the user, a warning flag like "Please make a choice" comes up.

PHP Form Validation and Insert Records

Hi There,

I've been scratching my head for 2 days and couldn't find a solution.

Here is my problem:

Go to http://ecopethandbags.com/contactTest.php and click the "Send Comments" button.

You will see that the validation works.

Now, go to http://ecopethandbags.com/contactTestInsert.php, this time, I've inserted the "Insert Record" server behavior.

Click the "Send Comments" button again.

You will see the ugly message like "Column 'firstname' cannot be null" in a plain white page.

My question is:

How can I insert the PHP form records in my database and take advantage of the form validation nicely like in http://ecopethandbags.com/contactTest.php

I am attaching the files.

Paging control and URL parameters

Hi there,

Go to the section "Skiing Surfing"

1 - Use the navigation to go through the records.

2 - Take a look at the URL in the browser window.

Now, please go to the section "Hiking" and repeat 1 & 2.

Note that the URL is appending the new parameters instead of replacing the previous one.

What am I doing wrong here.

Please help me to solve this problem.

Obviously I know how to do it for one box at a time per page but what should I do if I want to animate as many as I want in the page.

Hi there,

I'm trying to animate the 4 Divs (Discovery, Activities, Beaches, Color Me Martinique) at the top of this page, each Div containing 4 pictures.

I'm currently trying jQuery but I don't know how to make it work for the 4 Divs (each Div containing 4 pictures). I'm still working at it

But, I have also been told in the forum that using jQuery to animate the 4 Divs would start to eat into the browser performance.

So I'm thinking doing it in AS3.

Would that be a better choice?

What are the downsides using AS3 to animate the 4 Divs, each Div containing 4 pictures.

Recordset Navigation bar

Hi There,

I'm looking for a way to run the navigation through the pages smoothly. Right now it's "jumpy" and annoying.

On this page:

you will see the page jumping when we navigate through the towns table.

I understand that the page re-loads itself naturally when using the Recordset Navigation Bar.

I have added a javascript function in the buttons navigation links to make the page staying at the same level instead of going back to the top.

Is there a way to make the page not to reload so I could have a smooth navigation?

I would still like to insert the data from the database.

PHP Recordset Paging - Recordset Navigator Bar

Use the Navigator bar to page through and you'll notice a very annoying thing - the page jumps to the top.

How can we prevent that to happen so we stay at the same level of the page when we navigate through the database?

Hi There,

I'm trying to create a simple link to a page (internal or external) using the binding panel.

I have this for example:

Anaconda

310.564.3589

www.anaconda.com

This information is in a table in my database.

From the binding panel I can populate the page so it looks like the above example.

I have inserted the name, the tel #, and the website.

How do I create the link to www.anaconda.com from there?

I'm trying to write a script so I can identify the sub-pages under "Gallery" in my website

Under Gallery I have more than hundred pages describing the photos but I want to identify them as the "Gallery" page.

How do I achieve that?

It would be tedious to write the "PHP if" statement for each photo link.

I trust there is a simpler solution.

In PHP solutions by David Powers, Ch.4 "Using PHP to identify the current page"

The script is:

Spry Validation

Hi there,

I am trying to use the spry validation in my form. But that form has already a server side validation in the form element.

When I try to insert the spry validation for a text field for example I have this error message:
"While executing inspectSelection in spry_ValidationTextField.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."

Does it mean that I cannot put a Spry validation after I've inserted a PHP validation?

What am I doing wrong?

Coldfusion is not running on Mac/Intel Duo 2 - Tiger

Hi there,

I cannot have coldfusion running.
I didn't have the "start" feature when I finished installing it.
Then I launched the application and here is the message I get when starting Coldfusion.

Running command: /Applications/ColdFusionMX7/bin/coldfusion stop
ColdFusion MX 7 does not seem to be currently running

Running command: /Applications/ColdFusionMX7/bin/coldfusion start
Starting ColdFusion MX 7...
The ColdFusion MX 7 server is starting up and will be available shortly.
There has been an error starting ColdFusion MX 7, please check the logs.
