What settings does the "Create PDF for Review" output use?

Product: RoboHelp 11 (TCS 5)

Menu location: Review > Create PDF for Review

Issue: The default output from the menu location results in output that is unusable: e.g., styles aren't mapping correctly, making the document difficult to read and review. Is there a default print layout or some other control available?

Ultimate objectives: Track changes, perform shared reviews, import comments from the generated PDF, and so forth.

Secondary questions: Can I import comments/markup from a shared review if I generated the PDF using the print layout, instead of the Review > Create PDF for Review menu option? If so, will I then be able to manage comments from the Review pane and perform other related-reviewing functions?

Details

Mac OS X v10.9.5
Acrobat X1 v11.0.9 (Part of CC)
Objective: To send a document to a Web server's folder for a shared review
Successfully tested server-side setup: pointed the browser to the Web folder, logon using the configured user credentials, and viewed the target directory

Issue

I haven't been able to successfully create the proper URL syntax in the Adobe Acrobat wizard (Send for Shared Review) text box, Type the URL to the web server folder.

What I have tried so far

Using the information from another forum discussion, I've experimented with constructing the proper URL syntax, unsuccessfully. The following image provides the relevant snippet from the aforementioned forum discussion, which I used as my guideline.

Results and outcomes thus far

The following item documents the Send for Shared Review dialog's Status feedback from my attempts.

The server could not be located

Plan B Options

If I'm unable to find a solution for the Web server option, is there information about how to connect to Dropbox or Google Drive, if these are indeed options?

Captivate 8 (win7/64-bit) won't finish loading on startup

Symptoms (after launching Cp8)

The startup screen appears with the recent and new projects.
After about three seconds, the program closes.
Notifications and messages are absent.

Attempted remedies that failed

Launched Cp8 as administrator
Cleaned registry and optimized system
Verified that OS updates/patches are current

Environment and software

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit)
RAM: 4GB
Adobe Technical Communication Suite 5 (5.0.1.11)

RoboHelp 11 (11.0.2.240)

FrameMaker 12 (12.0.2.389)

Captivate 8 (64-bit)

Other information

RoboHelp, FrameMaker, and CC applications load and appear to operate normally.

Re (captions): How are sidecar files implemented?

Hi,

I'm a beginner and am trying to understand how sidecar files work. A scenario follows.

(To cut to the chase, jump to Exporting tests, #2)

Precondition

Premiere Pro CC is open with a short video on the timeline (i.e., Sequence 01).

Preliminary steps

I created and imported a .scc file
Added the .scc file to the timeline
Enabled Closed Captioning Display
Opened up the Captions panel and tweaked the timing a bit
Saved the project

Exporting tests

I exported the video using the QuickTime format, with the Export Options set to embed in Output file. The captions appeared inside the QuickTime player after I activated the menu options. So, that seems straightforward.
I exported the video using the H.264 format with Export Options set to Create Sidecar File. For output, I get two files: Sequence01.mp4 and Sequence01.mp4.scc.

Here's where I'm stuck, conceptually. What comes next? If you open the MP4 file, the sidecar file doesn't seem to be getting picked up or read.

Rh9:Unable to view PDF files from search results in Firefox

Is this a Firefox plug-in issue, rather than a Robohelp issue?

Background info:

Using Rh9
Firefox 23.0 (latest version)
Works successfully in Chrome (latest version) and Microsoft IE 8 and IE 9
Using Firefox, I am able to view the test PDF file from within a topic, via a hyperlink. Unable to view the test PDF when it appears within the search results.
Failure behavior
- Information message appears at the top of the screen, indicating that "This PDF document might not be displayed correctly."
- A button appears: "Open with Different Viewer"
- In the main frame, the page is blank except for the Adobe Viewer controls: i.e., zoom, page navigation, download, print, ....

Any ideas?

Click TOC topic. Topic page loads in TOC frame.

I've been testing a simple help application. When I select a topic from the table of contents (TOC), the corresponding topic loads in the TOC section. My observations follow:

Created using Rh 10
Problem occurs on client running XP Professional SP3, Chrome (latest version - 23.0.1271.97)
Problem does not occur on same client when using IE8.
I haven't been able to duplicate the problem elsewhere (i.e., on other systems)

Any ideas?

Rh9 link works in preview not in generated version

Issue: I have topic with link to an MS-Excel file. When I perform an item view, the link action behaves correctly, displaying the File Download dialog box. When I generate the layout (WebHelp), the link's action doesn't respond.

Notes:

The file appears in both c:\appname\!SSL!\WebHelp\rules_summary_1.xls and c:\appname\Rules_Summary_1.xls

(unsure if case of filenames matters)

I created a test topic and got the same behavior

Any ideas?

Publishing RoboHelp output to MOSS

I'd like to develop policies and procedures with RoboHelp HTML 7.

Presently, the plan is to author these documents in RH, generate the PDF files and upload the PDF files into a MOSS library.

Ideally, I'd rather publish in WebHelp (or FlashHelp) and upload into MOSS. Is this realistic?

Update to RH 7.0.1 fails to install

Hello,

My updates fail to install only in RH. All my other CS3 apps update fine.

Error message reads: "Adobe RoboHelp 7.0.1 Update failed to install"

I already tried disabling virus protection

System: XP Home Edition with 2.0 GB RAM

Any ideas?
