Ordering blog tags by number of posts

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to order blog tags by number of associated posts rather than alphabetically?

We are using the tag "{tag_blogtaglist,20}" so that only the top 20 tags are displayed, but this is just cutting off lots of popular tags and doesn't appear to be of much use.

Instead, is there a way of ordering tags by popularity? That way it would be the less popular tags which get hidden.

Product search results order - descending price

Hi,

I know it is possible to display the results of a product search by price, using: {module_productresults,,,,price,,}

This dispalys results in ascending order (lowest price first) but we would like the results the reveresed. I've spoken to BC and the only way to show the order as descending (highest price first), is with JavaScript.

Has anyone implemented this before or know how to?

International tax rates

Hi,

We have a site which requires VAT rates for all of the European countries eligible for this.

In total there are 29 countries which need to be paying tax, while all the others are tax free.

From my understanding, this means we have to set up 29 different sub domains, create 29 different tax rates, and apply 29 different prices to each product - each in their local currency!

Is there no other way to ensure certain countries are paying tax? To add an individual price for each country is a huge amount of work when you're dealing with hundreds of products, especially when exchange rates can change over night.

Surely there must be an easier way of doing this?!

Web form module tags

Hi,

I have a contact form which is displayed on 10 different pages using a template.

The site owner needs to know which page the form was completed on, and so is there a tag we could use for this which displays the page url or title in the form results?

Ideally, I am looking to create a hidden form field called "Page url" which is automatically populated with the page title, or url.

Multiple level catalog structures

Hi,

We are currently setting up a site's catalog structure which involoves 4 levels: Category > Brand > Model > Products.

So when someone clicks on their preferred product category, they then select their brand, then their specific model, and finally the products available for it.

The issue we have is that using standard catalogs with this structure is going to require a lot of catalogs, especially when hundreds of products are taken into account.

My question is - does anyone reccommend an alternative method of follow the "Category > Brand > Model > Products" structure, without the need for each level's options requiring a seperatge catalog?

Email marketing module links

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to style the links within an email marketing template which are pulled in from using a module?

When using certain tags it's quite straight forward. For example:

<a href="{tag_unsubscribelisturl}" style="color:#812944; text-decoration:none;">Unsubscribe here</a>

However, when pulling in a list of blog posts using "{module_blogtaglist,12132}" for example, the above method isn't possible as you can't reach the li's or indiviudual links.

Therefore, what is the best way to style the links from a module link this?

"Do not finalize my PayPal transactions" settings

Hi,

I am having an issue with the "Do not finalize my PayPal transactions." box for Paypal transactions.

Even though I have this box checked, transactions are still completeing within Paypal, when they should not be.

The set-up from the Business Catalyst end seems very simple. Account email address, PDT token and box checked. That's all there is to it.

Therefore, it seems there must be a setting within Paypal to stop these transactions from completeing. Does any one know what needs to be done from within the account so this "Do not finalize my PayPal transactions." setting actually takes effect?

I've tried speaking to Paypal but they said "To being using authorisation and capture for Website Payment Standard, you would need to add the code "paymentaction=authorization" to your button"

However, there is no button, it's all within the BC system. Therefore, how do you actually set up "Do not finalize my PayPal transactions."?

Poplet thumbnail formatting

Hi,

I have a product with a set of poplet images, with some in landscape format and others in portrait. As the thumbnails for each image are of different dimensions, they don't fit together as a nice grid.

I have specified the thumbnail widths, but if I also specify a height, the images are distorted. With the current format, portrait thumbnails are of course much longer than the landscape thumbnails because of this.

The CSS at the moment looks like this:

.poplets img {

border: 0px;

width:148px;

}

Ideally, I would like to hide the overflow on the portrait image thumbnails, even though this will give a bit of an abstract view.

So, any ideas on formatting various size poplet thumbnails?

Google checkout integration

Hi,

I am trying to integrate Google Checkout into a BC e-commerce site at uniquedecopatch.com, but I understand the process is a little different to normal.

In BC I have the correct merchant details applied to the account, and have used "hosted credit card" as the payment option on the checkout.

In Google checkout > preferences, it is now set to "Automatically authorise and charge the buyer's card."

In Google checkout > Integration, I know I have to specify an API callback url and I think this is where it's breaking.

I am unsure what to use. I have tried several options such as https://www.uniquedecopatch.com/ and https://uniquedecopatch.worldsecuresystems.com but nothing seems to be correct.

I am also unsure of the callback contents. The 3 options are:

Notification serial number

Notification as XML

Notification as HTML

Can anyone help with this, particularly the api callback url?

Removing the ecommerce sale price decimal value

Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to hide the decimal value of a product price using JS? So all the visitor sees is "$100" instead of "$100.00" for example.

I don't think this can be done using a standard setting, so it seems JS would be the only way to go with it.

Static shopping cart urls

Hi,

I have a fancybox setup so that when a product gets added to the cart, a pop-up appears displaying the cross-selling products for that particualr item.

At the top of the pop-up are 2 buttons - continue shopping (simply closes the box), and Continue to checkout (takes the visitor to the first step in the checkout.)

The issue I am having is with the "Continue to checkout" button. This is basically the cart module with a button in place and the "1 item(s), Total: £1.00" text hidden from view. The problem occurs when adding a product with variable attributes, and if there if the cart is empty prior to selecting the item. The "Continue to checkout" button just doesn't appear.

I think the validation script for the add to cart button needs to be edited, but I don't think there is any way of doing this.

Instead, is there a way to link the "Continue to checkout" button directly to the checkout using a fixed url rather than a customised version of the cart module?

Removing blog description from detail template

Hi,

Is there a way to display the {tag_blogdescription} tag on the "Post List Layout" template only and not the "Blog Post Details Layout" too?

I have tried simply using "display:none;" to hide the text, but it still appears when a blog post is shared via social media as the description is still in the html code.

I can't remove it from the "Overall blog layout" and apply it to just the post listmodule template, as it doesn't recognise the tag.

Therefore is there a work around for this so the blog description is just shown once on the "Post List Layout" and not in the code of other blog pages?

Hide buy button if no price

Hi,

I have an eCommerce site which is made up of two types of product:

A) Products with a price which can be bought there and then
B) Products without a price but a note saying "Call for a price"

The issue I have is that the buy button is visible for both types of product. This is fine for product A, but not for product B as the cart can be filled with items without a price.

Is there a line of javascript available that I could insert into a online shop layout template which would hide the buy button and quantity field if there is no price? So it basically says "if {tag_totalprice} is not visible, do not display {tag_addtocartinputfield} and {tag_addtocart}"

Web app search for eCommerce

Hi,

I am building a site which makes use of BC's eCommerce functionality in the usual way. However, the search function on the site is quite an important feature with this, and the default search on the site doesn't have much room for customisation...unlike a web app search which allows for lots of different fields.

What I would like to do is build a web app search function (such as http://bcgurus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-business-catalyst-web-apps-search), which searches the eCommere products on the site.

Is this possible, or is there any way of automatically populating the app database with product data?

Rightmove.co.uk datafeed

Hi,

I am building a property search site which requiresthe use of the rightmove.co.uk datafeed.

After a property has been uploaded to the BC site (basically a product in eCommerce), they want the same property details to be sent automatically to rightmove.co.uk. This can be done with their automated datafeed which requires a .blm file (details at http://www.rightmove.co.uk/adf.html), but is it possible to integrate and automate this with Business Catalyst?

Free product checkout not completing

Hi,

My client has an eCommerce site selling books, ebooks and records at treefree.colourrich.co.uk.

Some of the ebooks are free, but there is an issue when one of these is added to the cart, and the checkout process completed.

Please try the following:

1) On treefree.colourrich.co.uk/ebooks add the free ebook to the cart

2) Checkout (using the view cart link in the header) and follow the steps

3) After completing the final setp of entering your details and clicking "Finish", an error appears saying ERROR: Total owing is $0. If you are using a Gift Voucher to pay for this order you will need to choose Gift Voucher as your payment method [ERROR: 3].

As Paypal is the only payment method at the moment, could this be causing the problem? If so, which option should I allow alongside this?

The second issue is if a downloadable book (free or paid) is added to the cart PLUS a physical book which requires a postage cost. With both items in the cart, the shipping dropdown doesn't appear. This could be due to no shipping option being specified for downloadable products.

Any ideas on making the shipping options appear if a physical product is involved at all in the checkout?

Product owner commissions

Hi,

My client sells downloadable products which are created by the public. After every sale, my client wants to be able to pay a commission to the product creator, but I am having problems working out the best way to do this.

A standard BC affiliate program pays out a percentage but relies on affiliate urls so the correct affiliate receives a payment. This wouldn't work in this case as when product A is sold, the creator of product A is to receive a commission and nobody else.

A support member suggested manually creating an order report and then paying commissions on this basis.

Is there an easier, automated way of getting this to work?

UPS shipping integration issue

Hi,

I am having trouble with a UPS shipping integration on http://grrrrr.colourrich.co.uk. The problem is the rates keep coming out too high.

Please try this example:

Add the pencil sharpener to the cart at http://grrrrr.colourrich.co.uk/art-supplies/tools-and-accessories/2-hole-sharpener-left-ha nded-by-mercurius and go to the Checkout.
You will see this comes out at $6.99.
Now choose "UPS Ground" from the shipping options dropdown
Set the destination zipcode as10520 - this is also where the item is shipping from, so cost should be lowest possible.

...however, it comes to a total of $19.36, which is way more than it should be.

This item has a weight of 1.1lbs. It has a width, height and depth of 2.25". As all dimensions are the same, the issue can't be the dimensions being in the wrong boxes. A screenshot of this set up in BC can be seen at http://grrrrr.colourrich.co.uk/sharpener-details.jpg
