Non-Editable Adjustment or Groups, Not Layers?

I once possessed PhotoShop 3 and 6 (yea, back in the day). Currently I use Photoshop Elements 11 and am happy with it. I don't think my mind will stretch to do Creative, Creative Cloud. I'm already pissed that Adobe's Pagemaker 7 doesn't work with my Windows 8 or 8.1.

Anyhow, I obtained a very good opportunity for local small businesses to generate leads. No matter how I've left this alone (over 4 months) to clear my head, deal with other website projects, etc. I've returned to tackle it again. I contacted owner and here's his email response:

All is exactly how it should be. They are not editable because they are groups, not layers. You need to expand the group and inside is all of the layers including the website url layer. See attached.

Unfortunately STILL WHEN I DOUBLE-CLICK EACH LAYER hovering over the layer it says "non-editable adjustment" and I just don't get it. Is this simply a matter of software conflict or am I so vexed I'm overlooking something, have gone cock-eyed from downloading, reviewing and creating Photoshop images as well as being over-anxious?
