Auto logon signed on as different user

I was signing in to the PS forums on a computer that only I use. It auto signed me on, but as a totally different user. So far, this has happened only once, but it was very odd.

Script UI blank

On PS CS6 (Still using that at work and not CC) I have a very lengthy script (about 7000 lines of code). On multiple computers (Win 7), the script will run a few times and then the next time it's run, the UI is totally blank. Photoshop then needs to be closed and restarted, and the script will work. On some computers this occures after running the script just once. Has anyone else had this happen or know what might cause it?

Searching Arrays - indexOf

I was trying to search an array, and on the web it says to use something like this:

var tA = ['one','two'];

$.writeln(tA.indexOf ('one'))

However, when I try this, I get: tA.indexOf is not a function." It works with a string variable but not an array. Is this a bug, or an I doing something wrong?

Basic Question about certificates and signing

I'm just getting started using EB and would like to know what I really need in the way of certificates and or signing to be able to put a panel on Adobe Exchange. I know I can create a certificate for a panel used on my own computer, but need to know about sharing the panel. As I mentioned, I'm just starting and currently will just be trying EB out and seeing what it can do. I might post a few panels to the extension if I come up with something interesting. Thanks for any help!

Scripting Paragraph Styles

Just curious if it's possible to script (create and or refer to) paragraph styles, and if so what would be the syntax to apply them to a paragraph in a block of text? Is this or will this be something captured by ScriptListener?

Scripting colorsamplers to sample only active layer

In the menu bar of CS6 for the color sampler, it has a feature for sample all layers or current layer. While this feature allows you to sample forground and background colorrs this way, the info panel still shows the all layers color value. Is there any way to script the color sampler so that you can read the values of one particular layer without having to turn off visalility on all other layers?

Scripting Transform for user interaction

I'm trying to create a vector layer in PS CS6 that is used as a cropping guide for portraits. When I try to apply a transform to this layer, the transform box comes up but I can't change anything. I've done a search for this, and seen some examples from Mike and Paul, but they all will not allow me to change the transform.

Using flash in extendscript UI

I'm trying to learn how to make a flash element in a photoshop UI. I've managed to get one loaded and shown, but I can't seem to get extend script to send the swf file a function.

my fla file is a simple box that I'm trying to move with a button in the UI. I made it so if you click on the box it moves, and that works, but I can't get it to move with the button in the extendscript UI.

My fla code is:

Win7 corrupted user profile and ExtendScript

One of our photographers had her Win7 profile corrupted. IT came by and restored her profile, and everything seemed to be working fine except that now a script that I wrote that saves an XML preference file a subfolder in her my documents folder can't be recognized. In fact I can't get ExtendScript to create a file in any directory below the my documents folder, and it will return false if I check that a file exists - even one that does exists. I've tried both the "~" to get to the directory and hardcoding the path. Nothing works. Has anyone run across this? She can save her normal PS preferences, write files to those folders, etc; but Extendscript just can't see them.

addEventListener - change

I'm trying to learn how the event handlers work. I set up a simple dialog to use MouseEvents. I got the "click" event to work but when I try to set an event for "change" nothing happens. Basiclly with the UI, if you change the selection in the dropdownlist, an alert should pop up sayiing "p2". This was run on Photoshop CS5. Is this a bug, or I'm I doing something wrong? Retrieving Pattern icons for Script UI

Both Paul Riggott and I were interested if there is a way to extract a pattern icon for use in a sctip UI. I know Xbytor has a script that pulls the name and ID numbers from .pat files, but it would be nice to be able to see the pattern as well, and then select in with a dropdownlist or other UI control.

Simple script hangs photoshop

One computer that I'm working on Dell Optiplex 960 with 4gb RAM is haning when I try and run a script. I created just a simple on to resize and image and it won't do that. Any ideas on what to look for to get this computer in line?

Location of scratch disk

I'm trying to set up a timelapes project at work using CS5 and extendscript. I'm getting a scratch disk full error, only when I run the script. I do need to know where PS saves the scratch disk info, as my company limits my access to computer folders, so if PS is trying to write directly to the c drive, it might be getting blocked. If I know where the info is being writen, I can make sure I have access. Also don't know why I'm not getting the error message when not using the script. Just a simple resize throws the error.

CDATA line in script stops script from running in toolkit

I was trying to create an XML variable in a script and just discovered that if I add a CDATA block the script will not run from withing CS5 ExtendScript Toolkit.

Here's a sample of what will not run:

Flashplayer UI floating on top of UI interface

I've got a flash movie UI in an actionScript UI inside a tabbed panel. With CS4 everything is fine, but just tried it in CS5. First of all a black box shows up where the flashplayer UI is located on ALL tabbed panels and not just the one that holds the flashplayer. This was easily fixed by added an if statement inside of the main tabbedpanel's onChange function. the next issue was that the flashplayer overlaps the standard controls above it. Again fixed this by putting the flashplayer in a group and setting the top margin - didn't have to do this with CS4. The last issue is that one of the controls above the flashplayer is a dropdownlist. When that is selected, the dropdown list is hidden by the flashplayer. Any ideas on how to correct this? Seems like a bug, since it worked fine in CS4.

ExternalInterface error

I'm using a swf in an ExtendScript for Photoshop. I've written this with CS3 on WinXP and it worked no problem. Now with Win7 and CS4, I'm getting the error:

Error #2067: The ExternalInterface is not available in this container. ExternalInterface requires Internet Explorer ActiveX, Firefox, Mozilla 1.7.5 and greater, or other browsers that support NPRuntime.

Any ideas on what I can look for to correct this? Is there some special ActiveX plugin for IE8 that I need? I've checked to make sure activeX control was inabled in my browser.

Library symbols and debugging error

I'm using

Flash CS4 with Win7 and if I create a movieclip symbol in an FLA file such class name such as GreenBox. When I put the following line into my actionscipt 3.0 code, I get the error: "You cannot debug this swf because it does not contain actionscript. The line of code is:

var greenBox:GreenBox = new GreenBox();

Any ideas what's going on. Never had these problems with CS3 and Win XP.

I did double check to see if I had the debugger version on Flash Player.

User variable in Flash Player Trust file

Due to Win 7's limits on letting standard users install files in the program subfolders, I wrote a PS script that contains a Flash movie that runs from a subfolder of the user's My Documents folder. the trouble is I need to make a Flash Player Trust file with the swf's location in the user's subfolder. I tried using a variable like %Userprofile%, but that does not seem to work. Any ideas on how I can do this or if it is even possible?

Creating XMP panel in Flex CS4

I'm trying to make a custom XMP panel for Photoshop CS4 using Flex Builder 3. I just got Flex, so I'm trying to learn it. I downloaded the XMP fileinfo SDK and was following the directions to open a new XMP panel project. I've installed the JAR plugin. After I put in my panel/project name and click finished, it generates the flex code and I get an error stating: There is an error at line 99 of your MXML document: The "TestPanel" tag has invalid syntax.

Does anyone know what I'm suppose to do?

Deleting projects & desktop icons

I'm not sure there is any relation, but I deleted a flash builder project and half my desktop icons disappeared. A few days later, I deleted some more projects and the rest of my icons vanished. Now all I have left is the recycle bin and EI.

I have a UI in extendScript with a swf file in it. I was using externalInterface to communicate between the two, and it worked in CS3, but in CS4 it doesn't work. Has anyone been able to get externalInterface to work with CS4?

Gripes with Adobe scripting UI

Spent a lot of time trying to get fillPath() to work in a UI. Looked to be simple in the scripting guide but no luck. The sample script colorselector.jsx with the Bridge SDK claimed to have paths used in it. I couldn't find it. Maybe Adobe can't get it to work either. Tried a half-baked second approach to use a group and change the bg color. My main intent is to create a visual model of a print with borders that can be adjusted with sliders for the user to get a good idea of that they're going to get. Made a black group and a white group and got it to work in CS3. Went to work and tried it on CS4 and it completely fell apart. The stack order was different than CS3 and I could only get one color to show instead of the two I had in CS3. Can't figure out why Adobe made this much of a change with the scripting to cause this much change. We're having big issues with CS4 and custom XMP templates along with Flash extendscript interface due to some limit our company (I think) is placing on the use of ActiveX. So as Adobe is moving more towards the use of Flash/flex with their other programs, this is causing problems in companies like mine that have tight controls on program interaction.

Don't know if someone from Adobe actually reads these forums, but just want to vent and let them know that there maybe some bugs in their products.

Using paths in UI

I tried to follow the scripting guide on how to make and fill a path in a UI, but I get an error on the fillPath line. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Another Flash/ExtendScript issue

I managed to write an extendscript UI that uses a Flash interface. It works great on my home computer, but at work there is no interaction between ExtendScript & Flash. The flash part works, but I can't get anything thing to pass between the two scripts. There may be some sort of block on the ActiveX at my job. I've also heard that it might be related to IE - we're still using IE6. I've put in a help request with our IT department, but they just did a real quick look over at my IE settings and let it drop. Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions that I might try to see as to what is causing this block, or someone with knowledge as to how the two programs interact and what they need to do so. We will be upgrading to windows 7 later this year. A co-worker is having issues creating the new XMP Flex custom panels in Photoshop CS4, and I think this might be a related issue.

Creating XML object & adding children

I'm trying to create an XML object and add children to it. I can create the object, add one descendant per descendant, but when I try and add more that one child at the same level, they all get placed in the same node. Here's a little test I did:

myXML = XML('<rootnode></rootnode>') //this created the root node fine.

myXML.firstChild[0] = "Dave" //This creates a child node fine with the contents "Dave"

myXML.firstChild[1] = "Sam" //This adds Sam to the node Dave is in rather than creating a new child.

myXML.firstChild[0].secondChild = "Betty" // This creates a child node fine under the first child.

myXML.firstChild[1].secondChild = "Betty" //this will generate an error as there is not a second child.

Using insertChildAfter or insertChildBefore or appendChild don't seem to do anything either.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Using addEventListener

I want to put an addEventListener on a group of radiobuttons so whichever button is selected the same function is run. However, in the function can you use a term like currentTarget to tell which button was selected? I know with actionScript you can use MouseEvent.CLICK in the listener then in the function event.currentTarget, but this does not seem to work. The listener only likes 'click' and whatever I try with currentTarget generates a runtime error. I know I can just use the onClick function for each button, but just wondering how to use the addEventListener. For some reason, I always have a horrible time understanding Adobe's documentation. This is for PS CS3 & PS CS4. Thanks!

populating dropdownlist with bendmodes

anyone have any idea how to access photoshops list of blend modes to populate a dropdownlist? Also, if this can't be done, how do you get the blendmode to work? for example I populated the dropdown list with an array of the blend mode names which I typed out. but when I try and combine the name with say var layerNewBlend = BlendMode + '.' + selectionFromDropdown, I get a bad enumeration error. It seems you have to assign the whole blend mode to the variable at one time ei: var layrNewBlend = BlendMode.SCREEN.

I was going over the UI section in the javaScript tool guide, and it mentioned some sample scripts such as SnpCreateCheckBoxRadioButtons.jsx that are distributed with the Adobe Bridge SDK. I could not find these. the version of photoshop that I have was supplied by my company, and they may have removed them during installation. Is there some place I can download these samples?

radial blur keeping a preset

I need to use the radial blur on numerous layers with the same preset for zoom location. Once photoshop is closed, I have to relocate the zoom center. I've tried making a action to store the setting, a smart filter, and even using scriptlistener, but nothing will hole the zoom location. I doubt there is anything I can do, but Adobe should fix this bug or flaw.
