I have already InDesign and Bridge startup scripts and want to create one plugin from them using Extension Builder?

The startup files are Javascript file for InDesign, but Bridge file is converted from Javascript to Binary file.

I have installed Eclipse and Extension Builder. Then what?

And is this requires to rewrite the code or just a short converting process?

When I Place an Illustrator file inside onather illustrator file, the overprint elements failed to be overprint.

Why? Is there a bug because I use CS6, but when I tried using CS5.5 it works without any problems.

Here I created a file called single.ai, and set the text to Overprint Fill.

Here when you hide black color the orange color filled completely.

Then I created a file called Multiple, and placed then repeated it.

But as you see when I hide the black color the orange filled is etched (spoiled).

What is the meaning of _unitTest at the end of all of sdk samples of Bridge.

I had created a tool for InDesign CS6 written using Javascript to manipulate portions of text in nested way by marking them with small non-printing small anchored text frames contains sequenced numbers and storing these portions as snippets in a spicific folder beside the InDesign documents.

This tool is open source and free of charge, the only this that I want from you (after downloading) as a user to feedback and as a developer to improve it and join me.

I had write a new tool for InDesign, but in javascript and I want to rewrite it to be a plugin.

Hi, all the enthusiastic members

I intend to distribute an open source and free script collection, that lets the user to export a selected text to an Incopy file and observing and synchronising the relation between the exported file and its instances inside the indesign document in a semi-automatic way. And that by the following scripts:

live_snippets_startup.jsx - has finished.

Initiate the dialogs and the essential styles, elements and variables to be ready for the other scripts.

new_from_the_selection.jsx - has finished.

This export the selected text (and only the selected - not the story) as a new InCopy file to a folder called "live_snippets" inside the document's parent folder. These InCopy files named automatically with four digits like this file "live_snippet.0006.incx".

The selected text enclosed with starting and ending marks by adding small anchored text frames with nonprinting attribute and labeling these text frames with the snippet number (the number of the Incopy file).

check_the_document.jsx - has finished.

Check and states of the instances with their Incopy files. and mark the modified and missing snippets by spoiling the font style of the starting anchored text frame contents so they appear in the preflight panel. And changing the colors of the modified snippet to blue and missing ones with red.

submit_this_modification.jsx - hasn't finished yet.

Modify the snippet (the Incopy file) by re-exporting the instance that the text cursor inside it.

update_this_instance.jsx - I haven't started with it.

placing the snippet (the Incopy file) to update the selected instance (by selecting the starting anchored text frame or by putting the text cursor inside the snippet.

place_snippet.jsx - I haven't started with it.

place a snippet in the text cursor location without having to browse to the live_snippets folder (only getting the snippet number is enough).

I will continue until the collection reach a perfect stage and has a comprehensive abilities.

The current features:

You can choose to place the snippet so the instance follow it with formatting or without formatting.

You can add a description to the snippet which stored in the file meta data.

Intended features:

You can nested the snippets so it's possible to exclude partitions from the snippet to be in variety. Also in this feature you can change the order of the sub-snippets inside their parent so the global layout and the decorative elements could be changed permanantly and easily.

I want to put these files on an online service (the google site is temporarily) , web site or forum so we can make our modification, online read and write code, supply our comments on the code lines and functions level, showing the downloads count, tracing the versions...

So, is it available in this forum tools, because I tried to add the files from New>Document in my forum page and faced with a forbidden message.

Also I hope if any one see that this approach is an unnecessary repeating of existing InDesign tools or plugins already in the market. Please tell me.

When creating. The "With Format" option is set as default but you can change it for every instance (Not done yet) to its own option.

These anchored text frames have nonprinting attribute, but we could print it by modifying the export or print options in reviewing stages so the numbers can be used as a reference in emails and broadly modifications

Sometimes it's difficult to select a style name from drop down menu especially if the menu is long. So I suggest new feature which represent a semi eye dropper tool putted beside any drop down menu for any style (Character, Paragraph, Cell, Table, Object). The gaol from that is to help in producing the code then the user can customize it after that. And there is no need to be strict process like action in Photoshop or Illustrator. I want to cancel the editing which was made by a user on an InCopy file because we don't know who and at any computer.

I tried to delete the InCopy file and relink it again but the problem don't solved.

We use Photoshop and Illustaror to draw many of icons and illustrations and always we want the scales of graphics in InDesign not to be changed after updating especially when we modify the size of original art. But the problem that the scale and crop amount of graphic is changed not the frame itself.

So I suggest to add a new option in the Frame Fitting Options dialog in the Fitting on Empty Frame menu that fit the frame to content.

Suggesting adding "Fit Frame to Content" to this menu.

GREP and Nested Character Styles context menu.

I encounter problems when try to reach the context menu of GREP or nested character styles to execute edit or duplicate or delete... .

So as you know the nested or GREP character style which applied on current text cursor location, appears in the bottom of CHARACTER STYLES panel.

When you try a right mouse click nothing will happen. So I think the context menu must be activated on this area.

The context menu here is not exist but I imagine it.

The anchored object couldn't wrap the text line of it's marker.

I needs some time to layout the photo to be beside the text like this:

But the problem is in the first line (the line where the Anchor Marker is exist as first character). Because this line isn't affected by the text wrap of the photo.

I know that this is not a bug because this is could't be achieved logically, because the photo may affect the Anchor Marker and then the Anchor Marker may affect the photo. Then may will enter in finite loop.

But this is not the case when the Anchor Marker is the first character in the line.

Is there a way to adjust this layout with different technique and in a way so we can change the frame width without the need to readjust manually.

In CS4 (I don't know what about CS5)

We have problems when after deleting or adding pages especially with elements near the page borders. And we want to specify explicitly for objects if they are relative to margin or to page despite their locations and without using Anchored Objects technique.

At first create a file with three pages and make the inside margin more wide than out margin as in the above screenshot.

Then create two objects:

a black background extend to near spine.

a text frame for white title and body text.

Delete the page number 2.

Then you see that the black background exit out page bound (because it's relative to the margin before deleting).

Until now every thing is good.

Insert again a page before page 3

The black background now has different location than the original one. (Why) I will tell you.

Because the object was relative to the margin before deleting page 2 and become relative to the page after the deleting.

So I suggest if there is an option to restrict an object location to be relative to the margin or page despite if it exit the page borders or not. like to add options in Transform panel:

If these two options aren't checked then it will be depend on the location as the technique these days in CS4.

Is there a way to defile new list format?

I want to defile new list format like this:

First: Lab lab lab.

Second: Another Lab lab.

Third: Continueing the lab lab.

Or other like lists in different languages.

Specifying explicitly if it relative to the page or to the margin.

There is a problem when a part of an object exit the page bound if the pages' direction shuffled. This problem rise when the pages's direction shuffled again.

So I suggest if there is a way to specify explicitly if an object is relative to the page or to the margin exactly as if the object is anchored inside text frame.
