Hyperlinking across Word documents into RoboHelp

I hope this is in the right forum ...

I author documentation in Microsoft Word and then import into RoboHelp HTML (v11 & generating in the Multiscreen HTML5 layout).

I have multiple word documents and a lot of hyperlink in those word documents.

Some documents have hyperlinks that reference locations in different documents.

At the moment, when I import Word documents, the hyperlinks that reference locations in a different document break (dont work) which causes a great deal of work for me to find and fix.

Is it possible to have a hyperlink in Document A link to a spot in Document B and have it stil work after the documents have been imported?

Breadcrumbs navigating to TOC not Topics

Is it possible to have the navigation of breadcrumbs (when clicked) go to the correct location in the TOC?

At the moment it is navigating to the first Topic in that TOC level.

For example: (using the image below) if I click say Student Records breadcrumb, it is taking me to the first topic in the Student Records structure

I want it to go to the TOC instead FOR that Student Records level (below)

The TOC in my generated project is not navigating to the correct subfolders

The TOC in my generated project (Multiscreen HTML5/Andriod (Desktop) layout) is not opening to the correct sub folders.

For example, when selecting a Level 1 folder (say the one highlighted in orange), it will jump to a Level 3 list of topics in a completely different level 1 structure (say the list highlighted in green)

I have looked at the TOC report, everything is fine there, the TOC in roboHelp looks fine as far as I can see.

I have noooo idea how to fix this!

How do I get the Print button to print just the Topic Content?

I have inserted a Print button into the Topic layout of my project.

However when you use it (in the generated project) it is also printing the Search field, Home, Index buttons etc.

Honestly, in the Android HTML5 layout this looks terrible .... is there any way to fix this so it prints JUST the content and not the other stuff?

issues viewing output in Chrome

The software that I write documentation for has recently become compatible with Chrome, so I have never had to worry about testing output in this browser until now.

When 'attempting' to open my generated help in chrome it is opening 2 pop-ups.

One is trying to open whcsh_home.htm#id=0 (basically a blank pop-up)

The other is opening an about:blank page

any ideas?

Broken links after roboHelp HTML 8 to 10 upgrade

I have just converted a project from v8to v10.

3/4 of my topics are broken and i cannot locate them, figure out why this has happened, or know how to fix them?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Windings symbols not displaying in Android/Ipad output display

Our online help contains quite a few arrow symbols (refer image below) to describe program menu paths.

Our documentation is authored in word and imported, the arrows are a result of typing --> (which converts to the Windings font arrow symbol you see below).

In the roboHelp HTML View it looks like this: <b><span style="font-family: Wingdings;">à</span>

The arrow symbols are displaying correctly when viewing output on a pc, however on the iPad they are displaying à instead of the arrow.

Any ideas?????

Modifying Screen Layout colours in Multiscreen HTML 5

I have recently downloaded roboHelp 10 and am invesitgating the various layouts for tablets.

I am happy with the general layouts however the colours used when hovering over homepage and TOC options are a bit 'out there' (bright green for android, orange for ipad).

Is it possible to change these colours?

Password Protecting Output Files

I use roboHelp (Flashhelp Output) to produce our companies online help.

I have been posed the question as to whether it is possible to password protect one topic in the output.

Is this possible?

Connecting microphone hardware to C4?

Captivate is not recognising the headset installed on my computer.

I have tried re-installing the device multiple times. Checked all settings (I hope)

The microphone IS working, but not in Captivate (v4)

Any thoughts?

For a Word document that say contains only 1 topic (and therefore one Heading 1) when imported (into roboHelp) it is creating 2 topics eg. Topic_name.htm and Topic_name1.htm.

The topic with the 1 appended to the end normally contains the documentation and the other (without the 1 appended to the end) is empty but looks like it contains a single column and row table.

I have no idea why it is doing this or how to stop it ... it is completely destroying the overwriting of existing topics and hyperlinks.

Please help me!!

Hyperlinking from external documents to bookmarked positions in published project

A couple of things.

1. Is there a way to have a hyperlink in an external document that will take you to an exact position (preferrably a bookmark) in the published roboHelp files?

2. With the search function that highlights the search string words, is there a key that you can press or a button that you can set in the publishing options that allows you to navigate to the next highlighted section?

3. Is there some way to get the TOC to 'un -collapse ' in the published project?

Problems with roboHelp8

I have just updated my project to v8 and ever since have not been able to do a thing! Every time i click something it dies.

And when i try to import over a document it is creating a ne topic even though they are the same and it says it will overwrite it?

I have till this afternoon to do a couple of days worth of documentation update. HELP!

Linking to other projects

I have 4 captivate projects that i need to link all together (through buttons) and am not having any success at all.

In the button screen i choose to link to another project (making sure that the published swf files are in the same folder).

However when i publish the project and view it the buttons that should be opening up another project just loop the current project back to the beginning.

If i have a look at the buttons again (once published), the Project file name is changed from the new project to the current project i am in???

I also noticed in some cases that captivate was putting an 'f' at the end of the file name ... even when editing the htm file name and putting an f on the end it still does not work..... HELP!!!

Forward and back Buttons

I am trying to find a way to display a forward and back button in my generated Flashhelp so i can easily return to the previous topic when clicking through hyperlinks. I cannot for the life of me figure out if i can do it or if a need a programmer to do it?
