Remove product from cart AND go to catalog with 1 button

How can I modify the remove item from cart button to also go to a catalog when the item is removed on click?

Here's the button:

<a href="/all-ttha-gear" onclick="UpdateItemQuantity(0,324401,282161,9383705,337215,'','US');return false;">Continue Shopping</a>

I used javascript to change the text to "Continue Shopping" and changed the href value from "#" to "/all-ttha-gear".

This link is being displayed in a modal when a user drops the shopping cart total below $40. I want them to click continue shopping and have it remove the bonus item from the cart.

As the a tag is displayed above, it removes the correct product but stays on the same page.

Any thoughts?

Hey everyone, I've got a client who would like a message displayed when the shopping cart exceeds $40 (before tax and shipping).

In addition to the message, they would like to offer a free membership and optional magazine. Neither of these will be managed through BC, but I need to be able to pass that information off to the client.

My first thought is to create a custom CRM field with a check box that can be toggled on and off from the checkout page. I've also wondered if there is a way to add a free product (the membership and magazine) to the shopping cart once the price is over $40.

Do any of you have experience with this situation?

Create New or Update CRM Customer via API

I need to start by saying I know NOTHING about API / 3rd party integration.

Is it possible to update or add a new CRM customer from with the API?

I gave my contact at the 3rd party i'm working with a link to the API documentation and he responded with the following.

"I do not see anything to create a contact. The only thing that is close is ContactList_UpdateInsert web service. I want to try this one to see if it will add a contact if it does not already exist. For me to try this, I will need the web service username, password, and siteId"

This leaves me with two questions.

Where do i find the web service username, password, and siteId?
Is what i'm trying to do with customers possible?

Any help would be great!

Merge form Validation

Hey guys,

I've added some form validation with Dreamweaver's behavior tool but i can't figure out how to merge it with the existing BC validation.

It validates on blue so i could have the form blank and still submit the form.

I'm trying to make a required filed that the user has to enter an 11 digit number and I'm sure there's an easier way to do it.

Here's the Dreamweaver code. (it works on blur):

Show "original price" below wholesale price

I know I've seen something about this on the forum before but I can't find it. So here we go...

How can I show the discount my wholesale customers receive when they are logged in?

Example:

Retail price = $20

Wholesale Price = $15

I want the wholesalers to see

Price: $15.00

Original Price: $20.00

What tags do i need to use for this?

Force Refresh the Shopping Cart Quantities?

Hey guys,

Is it possible to refresh all shopping cart items on demand?

Here's what my client wants:

They want magazine subscribers who visit their site to be able to punch in their Member ID (11 digit number found on their magazine label) in the shopping cart and get the 15% discount that comes with the membership.

Having members login to a secure zone is out of the question
Individual discount codes would be to cumbersome to keep up with

My idea on how to make it work:

At the top of the cart page, I would ask if they are a member. If yes, a form would appear.

This form would be setup with two fields.

e-mail address
Member ID
- Since i have no way of verifying their member ID i would set it to accept any 11 digit number.
- The client is ok with this idea.

When the form is submitted, the form will set the user up as a wholesaler and log them in (without them knowing)

This will change the store prices to reflect the 15% discount.

The Problem:

This all works great with one big problem. Any item that was in the cart before filling out the form continues to show retail pricing instead of wholesale.

If you change the quantity or remove and add the same item back to the cart it works.

This leads me to my original question. Is there a way to refresh / reload the cart items so that they display the correct price as a wholesaler?

Any help on this would be amazing!

"Round Up" cart total for charity?

Hey everyone, one of my clients has requested a feature I've never dealt with before. Here's what they asked for:

We had an idea on our orders where people would be asked to ‘round-up’ their bill and the remainder of the bill goes to charity. So if the total bill was $20.39 you’d be asked if you wanted to round up to $21. Then the .61 goes to a fund that goes to one of our charities.

They could even have the option to ID where the funds would go based on our charities. We have been doing some research on it and how it could happen. But know there is much on your end that would have to work as well.

If anyone has experience with this or any ideas on how i could go about making it happen i would greatly appreciate the help.

UPS Worldship integration with BC

Hey Everyone,

I need some help integrating UPS Worldship with a Business Catalyst site. I have no experience working with the BC API or any other for that matter.

Is this something that BC makes easy enough that I could do it following a tutorial or am I best to get someone else to do it for me?

If I need to hire it out, where should I start that search and how much should I expect to pay?

Additional "Pricing Types"? - I need 3 pricing tiers per product

Is there a way to add additional pricing types for individual products? For instance, my client needs 3 pricing types (2 secure). Right now there are pricing types for consumer and wholesaler. We need pricing types for consumer, dealer, and employee. Can we create additional custom pricing types for these?

The only way i can think to do it is by duplicating each product and their corresponding catalogs twice and putting them in their own secure zone. Although i think this should work, it will be incredibly time consuming with hundreds of products. Not to mention having to make product changes across all three copies. Is there a better way to do this?

Can't Send Mail form Apple Mail or Webmail

I want to start by saying I've been using the BC email without this problem for quite a while and i haven't changed any SMTP settings. It just stopped working over the weekend.

When i try to send an email from my mac i get the following.

"Cannot send message using the server BC - SMTP" (BC - SMTP is the name i gave the server when setting it up monts ago.)

WHen i try to send an email from webmail i get "The Page at mail.413sga.com says: We were unable to send your message. Please try again later".

I can receive email to both Apple Mail and webmail. I'm using IMAP. Any Help would be great.

User ID for USPS Shipping Option

How do we know what our User ID/Account Number is supposed to be when setting up USPS as a shipping option?

I found my account number on the Click N Ship page on USPS.com. However, after putting this in the User ID field and testing it in my cart, i'm continuing to get an error message that says: authorization failure. Perhaps username and/or password is incorrect.

Shopping Cart and Inventory Control Problem

When items are placed in the shopping cart it deducts from the Inventory levels on the backend. This makes it impossible to get an accurate inventory level to know what we actually have in stock.

(On our high volume stores, shoppers can have up to $10,000 in their carts collectively at any given time. If we check inventory levels during high traffic, the levels are significantly off from what we actually have in stock.)

Is there a way to get an accurate in stock level while people could have items in their carts?

Can a customer edit/update a case?

Is it possible for a customer (who is logged in) to "interact" with a case that has been previously created?

For example: I would like to build a system where an admin can create a case in the CRM that included information that a customer would need to approve. The customer would then be able to login to a secure zone, see their case (proof) and then approve or reject it.

I had thought about using a webapp but can't find a way to create the item without being logged in as the customer. It would great if the CRM allowed for updating Web Apps

I've got a "how did you hear about us" dropdown on my checkout page.

I would like to add the ability for useres to select "other" then type in where they heard about us.

Here's what i've got without the other option:

Hey Guys,

Has anyone here had experience with building a design proofing system into their BC site?

I was hoping there would be a way to setup a web app to do this.

It would need the basic features like:

Image of design being proofed
Approve / Reject buttons
Comments
Notifications when approved or rejected
Secure zone access

I'm guessing something like this can be setup with a web app but I have no clue on how to individualize the content based on who is logged in. Would it be possible to use cases to populate the content? I'm new to BC so I don't fully understand all the possibilities here.

API for inventory control?

Can we use the API to update the inventory of product B when product A is purchased?

For instance:

We need to have a product listed at 4 different pricing tiers in secure zones for specific customers. Since Business Catalyst only offers retail and wholesale pricing tiers, we had to find a work around.

We ended up duplicating each product 4 times in seperate catalogs each one in its own secure zone. This solves being able to have each priced differently, however now we aren't able to control inventory for a specific product across the 4 tiers.

For Example:

Product A1

Product A2

Product A3

Product A4

Product A1 has been ordered, is there a way to use the API to subtract the number of Products ordered from the inventory levels in Product A2, A3, and A4?

Can I change the "Card Type" field on checkout page?

I'm not real familyar with forms so i don't want to mess up the one on the chekout page.

This is the default:

I don't really need Bank Card, Diners Club, or JCB so i'm assuming i can just delete them.

I would like to ad Discover Card to the list.

Can i simply change out "Bank Card" for "Discover Card" or will this mess up the transaction?
