Do payment types really work?

I have three payment options on the checkout:

1/ Cheque

2/ EFT

3/ Paypal.

Paypal works fine, cheque and eft payments record the orders as paid. Why is this - they are offline payments made by the customer at some point in the future.

I have tried using COD as a work around but this has the same issue.

Please can someone explain why this is before I loose the will to live.

Alternatively as a workaround - is there a way of setting the order status automatically to payment pending and delete the recorded payment?

Is it possible to change page content based on 'case' or 'workflow' state (or similar method)

Is it possible to change the page content if the customer revisits the page?

I have an approval page which the customer completes - when they submit the form with their answers a case is generated and they are taken to a submission successful page.

As they can revisit this page through their account details I want the page to change to say they have already submitted their approval.

Is there a method within business catalyst to achieve this?

Can I extend the CRM database to use a flag for the case and then set / check the state of that flag when the page is visited again?

Help needed with customizing {tag_attributes}

I've tried searching for information on how best to customize {tag_attributes} but not finding much help so hoping someone can help on here.

I would like to know if it is possible and if so how to do the following.

1/ For a mandatory product attribute with a drop down list (or radio button) how do I automatically select the first option. I assume I use javascript to achieve this but I don't know how you select the correct elements. Has anyone some example code?

2/ When an option is selected (not mandatory) which has am additional price how do I recalculate and show the product total?

3/ Can the tag_attributes style be configured (I assume with css) can anyone provide a simple example I could follow?

Would appreciate anyone's help on this.
