Help with creating color schemes in Illustrator file

I'm repeating a particular background image on each page of a calendar and would like to change its colors on each page. There are 2 gradients in the image which use a total of four different colors. I'm not at all skilled in color theory and was wondering if anyone can please tell me if there's an easy way to come up with harmonious color combinations that I can apply to the original Illustrator file? My shortcut solution would be to convert the color to grayscale and apply a color overlay, but the image just looks flat when I do that. I would prefer to adjust the gradients individually but just don't know how to find compatible colors.

Here's a preview of the image followed by a DropBox link to the Illustrator file.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52882455/background1.ai

Thanks!

How to create a radio button that changes colors

I'm using Acrobat X and ID CS5 on Mac OS X.

A couple of years ago someone on the forums explained to me how to create a button that changes color with each click. You can view a sample PDF at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52882455/colorcycle.pdf. They gave me the document JS and showed me how to set the properties of the button. I've integrated the button into a particular series of PDF forms and it's worked out very well.

Now I would like to do the same thing, but using a circle instead of a square. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? Can I somehow set a radio button to cycle through colors in the same way? I design my forms initially in ID CS5 and then activate and format the fields in Acrobat X. I've tried using circles instead of squares in my ID document, but when I export to an interactive PDF, they're converted to squares.

Any ideas?

Calculated field doesn't auto-populate right away.

In each column, I set up three calculated fields which should auto-populate as I enter values. When I enter values under "Option 3" or "Option 4", the total at the bottom does not populate or repopulate until I enter another value somewhere else in the form. For example, if I enter an office fee of $500 under "Option 3", both the "Monthly Total" and "Retainer" fields auto populate instantly, while the "Total to Start Service" does not until I enter another value somewhere else in the form. The calculation is correct, just delayed. I'm guessing this problem has to do with the calculation order, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Link to form: https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=fc26VU7Fpm0IOfmmekrXYw

Thanks in advance for any help!

How to knock out the shape of a placed object

Each photo is a separate object. I would like to knock out the shape of the dog in silhouette to reveal the background layer, which is underneath the small images and can't be seen in this picture. Then I would like to add a drop shadow to give the background layer some depth.

I know how to do this with either text or a shape created in InDesign, but I'm having trouble getting it to work for a placed object.
Highlighting areas in a form

I have a client who leases furnished office units. He wants a floor plan which will be used by his leasing agents which shows the following info for each office: high price, low price and current price. These figures will change on a regular basis. He also wants to be able to highlight each office to indicate whether it is vacant (RED), available in 30 days (BLUE) or available in 60 days (YELLOW).

I have turned the floor plan into a PDF form with 3 fields located in each office for the prices. My problem now is creating a feature which will allow the user to highlight each office according to the parameters I indicated above. My initial solution was to add 4 radio buttons to each office--red, blue, yellow and white (to reset). It does the job, but I would like the highlight color to be much larger (almost as large as the office).

Is there a way of doing this? Would it be possible to add a large box to each office and somehow make it so the user can change the color? Can the fill color of a field be determined by a separate radio button or check box? Is it possible to set up a sequence for a radio button so that it changes color with each click?

Here's a screenshot of the form:

http://i.imgur.com/u5dGy.png

Thanks!

This gives me a way of laying out my form fields in InDesign rather than in Acrobat. Now I need to figure out how to install the .js file or find the appropriate folder to place it in. The instructions that came along with the script were written for Acrobat 10.0. I am running 10.1.3 on a Mac. I know this must be a simple question but I know absolutely nothing about scripts.
