Johannes describes a (not yet official released way) to link cross publications

sadly this does not work for us as it does for Johannes.

my problem is

i tried it with a button in ACV folio linking to a published magazine.

the link to the library works. but not to a specific folio or article.

used the link as described. renamed folios so they are url friendly. it always says "Error on download - cant proceed because file is missing or invalid" followed by a second message "error - this article is currently not available for your device". either a free or a 2pay folio. logged in (subscription) or not.

do you have any idea what could be wrong?

and

when i try to link to dps tips of bob it only gives the 2nd error message. using an ipad2 or ipad4. dps is rev 29. also the error occurs if i try to open it from within contenviewer, published folio or safari.

i can link to other folios, but not to a specific folio, or article in a folio.

do you have more insight on that matter?

embedded Google maps

I used the script from HTML5 Geolocation API: Standort in Google Maps anzeigen
(german)

I use embedded web form in the folio builder to add a html-file containing the script.

the goal is to have google maps shown with the users current position.

it works. the only problem is, it is asking the user if it is allowed to use the current position.

and it looks like: "May "/var/mobile/Applications/F6025DED-6AE6-4c))-8240-EEE6A2CD8E6B8/Library/Caches/issues/geo location/yiQ3togSMoGGXL35AXwlw/1OverlayResources/html/geolocation.html" use your current location".

obviously this does not look very professional or trustworthy.

do you have a suggestion how i could achieve the effect but get a better box? like "may google use your current location".?

Updates are unable to be downloaded

I reported this already to customers, but I hope some of you might increase the urgency towards engineering.

"once again its Android.

I tried downloading our updated version (added HTMLResources) three days ago.

It recognizes there is an update, but once I click the update-button the downloadbar displays briefly, then aborts and shows "update avaiable" again.

device: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. 10"

today it worked for me, but failed on an Galaxy Note

tried: restarting app, restarting device, deleting cache, deleting all downloads. reinstalling app.

I am very certain, that it is a size problem. i tried uploading smaller (fake) HTMLResources, and at a certain point it works.

At first I thought it was roughly 150MB (Folio including HTMLResources). But the error occuring on the Galaxy Note was only 93 MB.

Please get back to me as soon as possible, as we can not calculate how many customers will experience the same problem."

what I got as answer:

"This is a known issue that engineering are still looking into. There is a problem handling the zip files on the server which can cause the server to time out when downloading the files. The issue is dependent on the server load at the time the download is attempted which is why you see the variations in behaviour. Changes to our handling of the content on the server are planned but I’m afraid I don’t have a definite timeline as yet. For now I can only recommend trying to keep HTMLResources files below ~90MB to ensure that the download succeeds."

we have daily production. we can not change our workflow, just because some changes were made to the server and there was no backup-plan.

this thing is really pushing my buttons here. Sudden, unannounced changes for which we, as an agancy, will have to take the fall. Topped of by (understanding and kind) support, which is unable to do more then adress our problems to someone who we have no contact to. As honest and good our support is, it seems they have no influence at all.

The whole android experience with dps is, and I chose the next word is well considered: terrible.

Login error on iPad store

The login-button can be used, the window pops up. But once you start typing your username/password no letters appear in the boxes.

Restarting the app helps; obviously an imposition for our user.

sections are not working on android

I try to use sections on android devices. But they simply have no effect at all.

tested on android galaxy 7 and nexus 10. r25

on ipad3 it works fine.

unpublished, republished.

closed, reopened the store

reinstalled the app.

nothing has an effect.

did not find any information online either.

reported this also to our gold suppurt, but in hopes to a get a faster response here it is as well

is this known? is this a bug? is this in the works?

InDesign crashes when using liquid layout at certain files

While using "scale" some documents crash the programm, some don't.

It's not even the large or long files. just some, compared to others that work, medium files.

Crashes never on small sizes (eg. 1024x768).

My crashing example would be a 1205 Pt x 6290,947 Pt

I resize it to 2048 Pt x 10691,999 Pt

When liquid layout rules are on, it crashes. If they are off, it does not.

Content can then be scaled up by hand.

cs 6, no special things in the article, just font and 2 pictures. no mmo or similar.

Android and HTMLResources bug

I encounter a serious problem when using HTMLResources in my android-application. (See the video). Testing on Android Galaxy 10" 2nd generation.

The "solution" to this is closing and ending the app completly. Restarting it and crossing fingers.

The button uses "HTMLResources\something.html"

the HTMLResources contain 2 html. 16 jpg. 1 js.

Of course this is a customer concern, which is more then annoying, but also frustrating and is the main reason for our bad android-rating.

Does anybody else encounter this problem? Will there be a solution?

Website speed is terrible

The speed of the folio producer website is terrible, given the "correct" time.

The problem mainly occurs at 8pm GMT+1. Which I suppose is when most daily publication in europe take place.

Still, waiting for 4-5 minutes till the site loads, usually cancels at the first few tries is not just annoying. I have a deadline and I have problems holding it.

also sometimes it is faster on safari, sometimes firefox. sometimes it does not work in one and in the other it does (slowly).

we tested our connection (we have 3 different wifi, cable and dsl). no problems.

late at night the connections are fast again.

This sounds like a power-problem siding with the servers. Are they not able to handle all the data coming at the same time?
Is there a plan to upgrade them, if so?

Or is there another reason?

Adobe Content Viewer problems with the library on android

Here is another android related problem.

My finished folio does not appear in the ACV library. Login in, out, closing, quiting, restarting, dleting other issues, downloading other issues. Nothing works.

At some point it does appear, but there is absolutely no clue when this happens, but at least hours after it is done.

Therefor I am unable to test any of my daily productions and have to publish the issues untested.

this is a stress on the user, as they often need to download an update, once I found mistakes in the issue, previously unknown.

Is this a common problem? Will there be a fix? Is there a workaround.

Other data:

Issues currently in the ACV: 90.

Device: Galaxy 10" generation2

filesize: anything from 12 to 170mb.
