Auto Play

I understand that Apple policy is that for web content (audio and movies) autoplay is disabled but I am creating an app which will not require any internet with CP8 and Phonegap.

Is there a way to autoplay the project rather than having the user press the play button?

Problem with the quiz

In this project I have a 10 question quiz at the end of it and for some reason it starts with question 2 rather than question 1.

I figure its because the user needs to interact with the software with a software simulation. That said all the hotspots have been excluded from the quiz but for some reason it still shows as question 2.

Anyone have the same problem and or a fix

Could someone with the latest CP8 patch please try making a responsive project, then making 3 random questions, adding 3-4 questions to the question pool (multiple choice) and then adding a couple of images to the questions in the pools and check if the images do indeed show p when published as on my end the images disappear.

After updating CP8 to 8.0.1.242 Quiz buttons dissapear

I installed the latest patch yesterday. Before the patch I published my quiz and everything worked fine except the final slide audio would start after the first correct answer (no clue why). After the patch all my quiz buttons disappear. They are custom image buttons that replace the original CP buttons. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Since this patch is completely broken (see my other discussion about question pools), is it possible to downgrade to the older patch so my company can keep working on the iPad versions of my software?

Problems with quizzes

Ok since the latest captivate update all my quizzes do not work anymore.

My custom buttons are not visible anymore and any image loaded on to a question slide also disappears.

Its not acceptable that a company like Adobe keeps making these kind of mistakes. They release a patch to fix a bug and while doing so they break other stuff.Before the patch everything worked fine. My project is online and everything works perfect. Now after getting my first App approved on iTunes I went back to the old project to change some details for the iPad version and all quizzes are now frikkn broken. This is truly unbelievable and needs to get fixed ASAP.

Not a question, just a thank you note.

Finally My App got approved by iTunes. After 2 and 1/2 years of trying to make them accept something using Captivate and Phonegap they finally said Yes!

So I guess thank you to the Captivate development team for finally delivering a product that is compliant with the many requirements of the Apple folks!

Quiz not working properly with CP8

Hello everyone.

I created a quiz with over 750 questions divided into 11 pools. Many of them have figures and buttons to open the figure in a large format.

For some reason the figures are replaced with wrong figures and also the buttons open a wrong figure.

for example:

This figure here is supposed to be an airspeed indicator. In the CPTX file it is an airspeed indicator belonging in pool1 but the image shown is an image of pool8 which makes no sense whatsoever.

I imported the pools from the CPTX files should I copy and paste the questions rather than importing them. I think that was suggested in CP7.

I just installed the latest patch of Captivate 8 and noticed that the instances of note on and note of (rather than start and stop) have actually increased rather than disappeared. Are these going to cause issues with Chrome as they did in the past or is the problem fixed now?

Hello Everyone again!

I have been trying to update CP8 to the latest version through Help->Updates...

The first time it failed with this error message:

Adobe Captivate 8 Update Installation failed. Error Code: U44M1P7

and now its stuck at 99% download and will not move any forward or give any error message...

Any help would be appreciated!

CP8 and Audition

I just updated Audition to 2014.1 release and now if I try to edit audio from CP8 in Audition the file does not open. Audition Opens but the audio file does not.

Javascript to pause/play project

So I created an HTML5 project with CP8 and have a button on top to pause play the movie connected to an advanced conditional action to pause and play. Here are the screen shots:

This action works fine until a hyperlink or a button with external link is opened. After that the pause button needs to be held for 2 seconds and then released to actually pause the slide while the play function works instantly. This is being packaged into an App for review by the Apple store and I know they are going to have a field day with it.

So the question is is there some javascript code that I can use to accomplish the same function

Hi everyone I have included in my project a large pause play button with a conditional action:

The command works perfect until the first slide with a hyperlink after the hyperlink you need to hold the pause button area for 4-5 seconds before it actually pauses (while the Resume or Play button works immediately).

Has anyone experienced this problem and or found a fix for it?

Hello everyone

I have created a test project to test the results of advanced interactions. I published the result at:

The interactions are a scrollable web object on the first slide (works fine)

The second slide has a zoomable image and that seems to disappear at times no matter the browser, even packaging it as an app on the iPad (has anyone noticed this problem?)

It appears that gestures do not work in advanced interactions.

I created a web widget with a PDF file inside (14 pages). viewing it in a browser you are able to scroll but if you open it in an ipad the scrolling is disabled.

I included an example of the problem at this address:

Javascript to open a new sized window

Hello everyone

I am working on a responsive project (CP8) which is going to be converted into an iPad App with phonegap.

The app has several links that open PDF documents. The problem is that when the new window is opened you are stuck on it and con'not get back to the actual App. There is no back button like an android phone and pressing the home button and going back to the App just reopens the link with the PDF document.

I was thinking of adding javascript to open a small window to view the pdf document so the user can X out of it, but I do not know if this will work and am uncertain on what code I would need to open a link in lets say an 800 wide x 400 high new popup window.

Any idea on how to resolve this issue.

Where is the TOC code in the HTML5 output

Hello everyone I am trying to find the TOC code in the HTML5 output. I found this line in the index.html

But that does nothing to modify it. I am currently looking in the CSS but I am going nuts. All I need to do is move the whole TOC div container down 20 pixels.

Anyone have an answer?

Back button on a PDF to go back to my iPad App

I created a responsive project in CP8 used phonegap to package it as an app and have some problems.

one is that I have many PDF files that are opened locally (in the calles folder). Opening them is not an issue. The problem is when I need to navigate back to the app. It appears there is no way of actually closing the pdf file without also closing the app and since the iPad does not have a back button its becoming an issue. Does anyone know how I can back to the app from the PDF document?

Second it appears that the responsiveness of the project ends when it is packaged into an app. Since the iPad does not open a browser all adaptability is lost and the project sits on the top of the iPad screen and the bottom 20% of the screen is blank.

I managed to move the project to the center of the screen by adding

document.body.innerHTML = " <div class='cpMainContainer' id='cpDocument' style='left: 0px; top:80px;' >

This also moves the TOC expander icons but the actual TOC still opens from the top left corner which I already know Apple is not going to approve.

Does anyone know how to fix either or both issues

I have created a project where many slides are followed by an equal slide which shows all the text rather than having the audio narration, images and minimal text. I also created buttons for those slides that skip or show the text content slide.

Is there a way to connect the table (in particular iPad) swipe function to the button actions so it jumps the text slide?

Is there a way to control the swipe function of a particular slide at all?

Sorry for my ignorance but I just started using Edge Animate and stumbled across a problem I can't seem to find a solution to.

I have the latest Edge Animate CC 2014 and I am experimenting with motion paths. The output needs to go into a Captivate 8 responsive project and so far I have been able to accomodate all of my needs by changing the px to %, but with Position and size set to motion paths it seems I cant change the X and Y to %. Its probably something stupid but I could use a helping hand here.

it works fine on Chrome/Safari on PC and Mac but it keeps crashing on my ASUS tablet.

I already changed the instances of "noteOn" with "start" and "noteOff" with "stop" but it still crashes on opening. When it does open the Audio does not work unless its an instance activated audio such as clicking on a button or answering a question with feedback. any help would be appreciated as I am ready to deploy online and also package the product for the Apple App Store.

Problems with Edge Animate Animations

Hello There

I am Using CP8 with responsive projects. It appears that no matter what if an edge animate file is imported into a slide it lays on top of everything else and trying to put a caption or an image or anything else on top of it will not work (it shows behind it). also I have a custom pause play button on the slide and it does not work on any slide containing an edge animation. Anyone else found these problems and maybe a solution?

Hello guys has anyone figured out why on a mac if I click anywhere on the screen the view re-aligns to the top left corner?

I am using a Mac and CP 8 its becoming quite annoying as to select an object to resize or move it I am forced to click on it several times before the slide decides not to recenter to the top left corner forcing me to scroll down and right several times. Its not a huge issue but its a big waste of time.

Project not working anymore on Chrome Browser

After the latest Google Chrome update my project is stuck on preload. It will open fine on android browser but as usual the audio does not work (no idea why but it never worked).

It will also open fine on the PC or Mac but it will not open on my phone and will crash my Asus Tablet.

While in production mode, every time I select an object or click anywhere on the screen it re-centers my slide which can become quite a pain when all my buttons are either top left and right corner and bottom left and right. I looked under view and was not able to find a solution am I missing something?

Adaptive Fonts? (CP8)

Ok So I like the new features of CP8 but I can't seem to find a way to make the fonts adaptive. To be truly adaptive the fonts should decrease in size as the screen of the viewer becomes smaller is this a feature of CP*? Can it be done?

Scrolling the ToC on iPad

2 questions really

1: how do I make the ToC scrollable on an iPad? If you touch the ToC it immediately brings you to the slide you touched and there is no way of scrolling.

2: is there a way to place an image on top of quiz objects? For example I added a help button that opens a hidden image to show the functions of the quiz but the image is unclear because of all the quiz objects. I figured I would add a slide and have the button navigate to it and on exit the help slide would go back to the last visited, but because of random questions and question pools that would be a long and tedious job. So again is there a way to place objects on top of the quiz objects?

buttons to bookmark and unmark the toc

Hello I am tring to find a way to have a button mark and unmark the TOC so that the user can mark a question on the toc for later review (it doesn't need to remember the mark if the user exits the course).

I have been trying for days now with no success is there any way to accomplish this?

Also I am trying to change the o on the question to a square button with A, B and C on them but I cant seem to be able to accomplish this either. Is there a way to create a style (.cps) for a button outside Captivate?

I am using the latest version of captivate 7.

Printing my own certificate in landscape

I have been searching for hours and can't find out how to print my own certificate in landscape mode the wdget is printing in portrait mode which in captivate is useless because 99.9% of captivate project have the width much greater than the height.

The only way I found how to do this is by purchasing a $20 widget to print this way.

Is there a different solution than me spending $20 to print the certificate?

CP7 quizzes with multiple question banks not working

Hello there

I have worked 2 weeks on creating a quiz to be published in HTML5 and now that I am finally ready to publish it appears that CP7 has a problem when publishing a quiz with all random questions taken from more than 4 question pools.

Up to 3 question pools HTML5 works like a charm but add a 4th one and it all goes to hell.

I have 60 questions taken from 11 question pools and many questions appear blank (just the background appears and the slide keeps going for its 3 seconds untill it automatically jumps to the next question not giving the possibility to answer and therefore scoring it negatively. (the answer all questions is active).

Now if I publish the same project as SWF the quiz has no problems and works just fine but I would really like to be able to have people take the quiz on their iPad and also I was actually going to convert it into an iPad app but that now appears impossible to do.

Is there a solution to the problem? Is CP7 limited to 3 Question Pools when publishing as HTML5?

Buttons not working on all computers / browsers

Hello

I created a tasting site that mimics the actual testing that pilots use for their examination, to do so I created a couple of extra buttons on the first slide (as smart shapes) and made them appear for the rest of the project.

For some reaon the buttons work fine on my Mac using Chrome and My Pc (still Crome) but when I use Safary on my Mac the buttons do nothing and when I used chrome on a friends computer again no joy.

The help and View buttons are the ones having the problem.

I hade made a quiz with over 100 questions. Then I copied the slides and pasted them on a question pool. Saved, deleted the slides except for 2 and saved again by mistake without save as to change the name, so I could use it as a template.

I about shot myself then I figured maybe the cached version would work so I dcahed it and zipped changed to .cptx. Since it was 1.1 GB i figured it would have all the slides but nope it only has the 2 slides is there anyway to get the project back?

And no, before you ask, like an idiot I forgot to I enable project backup on the prferences.

Bookmark a slide on the TOC

Hello everyone.

Is there a way to have a button bookmark a slide on the TOC. Not so when he comes back he automatically goes to that slide.

Lets say I have a hard question on a quiz and don't know the answer. I press a button and voila' the slide is bookmarked without having to actually open the TOC and bookmark the slide and close the TOC again.

BTW This would be a great function.

Any help would be appreciated.

CP7 Interactions not Working

I have a Process Circle in my project and publishing as HTML5 all I see is a blank screen for the duration.

Aren't interactions supposed to work in CP7???

ok I am having a problem with the audio on a captivate 6 project published to my server in HTML5 and viewed on Android or iPad. The audio works fine when viewed through a PC but doesn't start playing on iPad or Android untill a minute after the slide is displayed. Any idea why?

OK so I have been developing programs to help students pass the FAA written exams to become pilots, and finally now with the advent of HTML5 publishing and Phone Gap I was able to bundle up an iPad app only to be rejected 10 days later because of the following reasons:

Specifically, we noticed your app had low quality images and graphics, slow app performance, controls that were difficult to use, and poor navigation. Also, Specifically, your app does not take advantage of the iOS platform. It would be appropriate to add iOS specific UI and functionality.

Now the images are my problem and most of them are taken directly from the FAA themselves as to familiarize students, So the quality is the one the FAA gives.

How do I increase performance (app speed). When I click the next button it takes 1-3 seconds to actually go to the next slide. (I have not changed the text animations, because although not supported by HTML5 they still show up without the effects: does this slow down performance?).

For the iOS UI well I have taken out the standard playbar from the ToC completely but it looks like mimiking a play bar from an iPad app might be the way to go. Is this something that can be done. (as you can see from the below image I have already modified the ToC collapse expand icon by coding the CPTOC.js. This was quite a struggle and even on your forums it says it cannot be done (well it has: you can add any image you want to replace the << >> and resize it as you please) here is the example:

Rollover areas for HTML 5 Publishing

Ok I understand that roll over areas are not supported and for the most part I have converted those to click (tap on) areas for the normal running of the project. My problem is in quizzes, I have images that need to be zoomed to see the details and I cannot instert click areas on quizzes so I am left pondering what other options I might have to let the user zoom in on an iPad to be able to see the images better in detail.

Also my quizzes used to be random taken from a question pool on the subject discussed and this is also not supported, any idea on how to generate quizzes that offer new questions every time the user runs the quiz?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

captivate 6 publishing to html5 failing

Ok so I have now published plenty on my mac without an issue and now as I try to publish this error comes up: could not copy folder to /user...~/assets publish failed

also the publish to folder option is now greyed out and can't be selected.

Please help asap since I am on a deadline to deliver my content to the apple store
