Folio inconsistencies with pinch & zoom

I Am having an inconsistent pinch & zoom reaction in my folio. Some times PNZ will work immediately on a page and some times it will take up to three tries. the same page can have different reactions when you leave it and come back. double tap always works immediately on page load.

The problem is the same whether the folio is in Content Viewer, ether published or unpublished, or built as an app from App Builder. The reaction is slightly faster on my iPad Air then on my iPad mini (non-retina). I cannot recreate the problem with Bob's March of Dimes app. So, I'm guessing it's the folio/articles.

THe articles in folio are from a print project built in Indesign. The print catalog contains a mix of graphics from Photoshop and illustrator. The articles have four layers (top-to-bottom) header, content, search, and footer.

Header - a button for the search MSO and a hyper link

Content - type, graphics, and hyperlinks

Search - MSO with an HTML overlay

Footer - text and hyperlink

THe folio is about 80mb.

I Have exhausted my range of why this is happening. Any insight would be appreciated.

Multi-folio: submitting and approval

My project has been given the go ahead and we are nearing launch.

I have read the Adobe Publishing Companion Guide for iPad, searched the forum, and Googled but could not find answers on how a multi-folio app is submitted and approved. I understand that a multi-folio app is an Adobe DPS feature based on a shell/container library app. Does the multi-folio viewer app get submitted to Apple? If so, do I need to do a layout for it (will be using a Professional license)?

Is there a step-by-step guide that I missed that details the creation and submission of a multi-folio app?

Renditions or Single Folio for Native Android?

I am not sure what the best strategy is for native Android folios. Should I build a single folio at 1280x800 or renditions at 1280x800, 1920x1200, and 2560x1600 as described in Digital Publishing Suite Help | Setting up renditions for native Android viewers?

Do I need three sizes of graphics (as describe in the Android developers docs) if I use the renditions?

About how long does it take from submitting the folio to receiving the file to upload?

Does a new app need to be built each time I add a new folio to a multi-folio app?

Creating Buttons from Shapes

I have an image that is composed of several products. I draw paths around each item, no fill or stroke, and create buttons. According to the documentation, InDesign Help | Buttons, I should be able to make a button from an object drawn with the pen tool. Well, it makes a button but converts the shape into a rectangle which is counter productive (all the buttons now overlap each other).

Am I missing something? How do you create a button from a custom path?

Folio Hanging after Updated Article

I have two folios that were updated. When I choose to update them in Content Viewer they both will hang after the download and move to the first page. This is happening on both my iPads (mini and Air). Is this a server issue? If not, ideas on how to fix it?

Arranging Folios in Content Viewer

My client is presenting to his executive board this week. He wants to show how the multi-folio app will look if he is given the go ahead from the money guys. I need to arrange 9 folios in Content Viewer having the two functioning folios in the first two spaces followed by the next seven place holders and pushing the Adobe Release out of view.

I thought that Content Viewer arranged the folios by most recently updated. This would mean I could load the ones I need on top last so they would be first and they would all push the Adobe Release out of sight. This does not to seem to be happening. Every time I update a folio it remains in it's original loaded position.

Any ideas on how to achieve this?

I have detailed information of a product opening an MSO when the article's thumbnail image is tapped.

If i tap in any are of the MSO that is not a button or link and there is a button or link in the article behind the MSO, the articles link/button action is triggered. Anyway to prevent this?

I have my folio set for PDF and all my articles are set for PDF. Each article uses a MSO which opens a HTML web overlay. The web overlay first shows a form field with two small icons. Once the form is submitted it returns text.

Is vector still the best choice for the MSO (slideshow) PDF format?

Can I have Two Buttons Triggering the Same MSO?

I have a button in my articles pointing to an MSO (SearchButton 1). Works fine. I am trying to add an additional second button on the instructions page (IntroSearch). My original (SearchButton 1) works as expected (opens up web overlay); the second (IntroSearch) does nothing. I can set IntroSearch to have other responses like go to next page. I did try changing the name of my additional button to match the original button but the results were the same.

Is it possible to have two buttons on the same page point to the same MSO?

DPS App Builder Fails to Launch

Every time I try and create an app I have to quit and restart Indesign (CC 2014) in order for DPS App Builder to successfully login.

Anyway to fix this without throwing away the preferences?

folio load time

My client is concerned about the load time of the folio in Content Viewer.

My folio is 67mb in size and consists of 22 articles. I have the first article's, the table of contents, download priority set to high and the remaining set to medium. The folio takes about 13 seconds to load on my iPad mini (non-retina and latest one available) and 3 seconds on my iPad Air. My client is using a 3rd generation iPad. The folio is being shared and viewed in Content Viewer version 31. I downloaded Bob Levine's March of Dimes app which he states is 105mb. This launches and is ready to use in 3 seconds.

Is the faster load time due to Bob's app being published vs mine being shared and viewed in Content Viewer? If not, what could be causing the slower load and does anyone have ideas on how to improve it?

Folios Disappeared from Folio Builder

I had three folios in my folio builder; two shared and one offline. I logged into folio producer for the first time and when I logged out and went back to indesign only the offline folio was in folio builder. Is this normal? How do I get the shared folios back into folio builder?

I'm working on a project that has one audio per page of a 20 page article. They are set to autoplay when they swipe to the page.I know I can add play/pause controls to each audio file on every article's page. Is there away to over ride the autoplay, stop all of the auido files from playing when they swipe to a page, or mute the audio files all at once instead of one at a time?

My project is to convert an 800 page Indesign print catalog into a DPS folio. I have 14 out of 26 articles completed and received a message on my iPad saying I was almost out of space message while previewing in Content Viewer. When I deleted it from Content Viewer it is just over 11gb and when I looked at the local resource on hard drive it is 5.75gb. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Is it typical for the Content Viewer file to be twice the size of the local file? Which is a better indicator of what to expect for a finished project?

This is obviously way too large. How can I make this a more manageable size? First, this has a dual orientation. The vertical is produced first, then an alternate layout is created for the horizontal. The vertical is deleted and the layout is saved as _h. Would having only one orientation reduce my overall size significantly? Each article's individual .folio file size ranges from 400mb-600mb. It was my understanding that Folio Builder compressed/converted all images used in the articles. Do I need to convert all of the high resolution print images into low resolution?

Updates to a Shared Folio

According to the documentation, Whenever you update an article in the shared folio, recipients are notified that an update is available when they open the library in the Adobe Content Viewer.

What exactly is an update to an article? For example, simply opening and closing the Indesign file, adding a new article to a folio, etc?

Best way to Display Single Vertical Pages and Horizontal Spreads

My client wants to have a horizontal and vertical version of his folio that presents as a two page spread horizontally and single pages vertically. When the device is rotated from vertical to horizontal, the two vertical pages should appear and when you rotate from horizontal to vertical the first page of the spread should appear (like the Ikea catalog).

I know you can accomplish this by this method:Re: 2 Vertical Layouts (left page and right page) to every 1 Horizontal Layout ( 2page Spread). The problem is having 800 articles is a bit messy. If you use a _h and _v layouts, the pages/spreads are not correlated when rotated. The articles will be from Indesign.

Is there a way to either eliminate/customize the way the generic TOC is made if I go with individual articles that was suggested in the forum post or override/customize (hopefully with javascript) what page of an article is displayed after the rotation if I use _h and _v layouts?

Web Overlay Form Field Tap Triggers iPad Navigation

I have an HTML form in a web overlay. When you touch/tap the input box to enter the information, the iPad's navigation is triggered before the input is able to receive the data. Is there some way to control/stop this?

App Server and jQuery

Does the DPS app server have a web server, like apache, running? I am working on a jQuery search solution and it appears jQuery needs to run on a server to search HTML files even if they are in the local file tree. I am trying not to have to convert my Indesign layouts to text for a json file. I would much rather export to HTML.

Is there a way to export/save all of the text from an Indesign file without going to PDF first? There was a script that handled this in earlier, CS2-4, versions.

Selecting each story/text box and choosing export is not a viable option.

Displaying HTML in a Web Content Overlay

I have an article created in Indesign. I add a frame holder and create a web content overlay with a local html file and allow user interaction selected. When I preview the folio in either content viewer or on an iPad the html only appears after you click/tap the frame holder. Is this by design? If so, is there a way to have the html visible when the article is loaded (displayed) without a click/tap?
