Plugins are a thing of the past. All modern tools are including some sort of WebGL output: Unity, Flash, etc.

Blocking Error Messages

I have a couple of error messages displaying in my iPad occasionally when testing an App. Is there a way to block all error messages in a Projector? These are the messages that i get:

Director Player Error

This application requires an Xtra (Font…) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s).

Property not found

#templateTitle

They don’t interfere in the performance of the app, just have to click OK. Is there a way to disable these Director error messages? Anyone had the same issues?

Adobe should abandon the Shockwave plugin altogether

...and concentrate the efforts on apps and a HTML5 exporter. There is no future for plugins, why waste resources? People won't download the Shockwave plugin anymore, it's a thing of the past.

Director is better than Flash

The only advantage Flash had over Director was the plugin penetration. Now that plugins are becoming irrelevant, Director should have a grand come back. The problem is the lack of vision in the part of Adobe.

It is beyond me why people still use such unintuitive tool as Flash. I guess is just an aura from its past glory that persists.

I haven't seen any new Xtras for Director lately. I think it would be financially attractive for a programmer to develop an Xtra to export simple projects as HTML5. It would revitalize Director.

Sound Loop

The sound loop checkbox in the property inspector only works with sounds of more than 3 or 4 seconds. It doesn't loop short sound effects. I'm under the impression that it used to work in previous versions of Director. I'm using 11.5 on a Mac.

Is there a workaround for this?

Image in the Background?

I want to create a full-screen Mac projector that is 800x600. It turns out that the stage occupies just a small area in the center of the screen with a simple color dominating the remaining area of the screen. My idea was to place an image in the background instead os just a simple color. Or maybe a tile like in webpages.

Does anybody know if it's possible to use an image that goes beyond the stage borders instead of just a simple color?

Basic Lingo (Intersecting)

Hi folks, I need help with some basic lingo.

Let's say, I have a Sprite X that explodes and touching 100 other different sprites.

What I'm doing now is:

If sprite X intersects 1 then...

If sprite X intersects 2 then...

So on... 100 times

I would like to have single line of lingo for all these sprites, something like "If sprite X intersects THE CURRENT SPRITE then...

Any suggestions? Thanks

Director 11 on PPC

Can someone explain to me what is the problem of using Director 11 on a PPC Mac? Why the product page says an Intel Mac is required? I downloaded the trial on my PowerBook G4 and didn't find any problem so far.
